I was truly privileged along with my dear brother Kash who represents the next generation of Qawwali tabla maestro's to spend a day with this legend. We talked, we laughed and of course tabla was played! Here he is in this phenomenal tabla solo during which he is conversation with Kash and talking about how he has managed to combine the Qawwali tabla with the classical tabla of Punjab.
The legendary Ustad Dilda Hossain. I bet if anyone who starts a day with a musical instrument the rest of the day will be less chaotic.

He is a great artist and everyone likes his qawwali style more than any classical tabla player. He plays bass like a bass guitarist, his sense of tuning bass according to the composition is amazing. A non punjabi Indian here. dilldaar saahab ko peechay baithay huay POOOORI shaam diligently tabla bajaatay huay dekha hai. Poori javaani bas yehi dekha hai.
Mehnat ka ek EXAMPLE hai Dildaar.
Bas itna he chaahta hoon ki kabhie bhi aap HALKAY mein naa bikein. NEVER.
Meray say jitna hogo doonga dildaar saahab, lekin aap kabhi kisi say maangyiyga mutt. Chaahay woh karodon he na hon🙏

He was brilliant when he was playing alongside the great Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Ustad Dildar Hussein's tabla playing, Ustad Farroukh Fateh Ali Khan's harmonium and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Qawwall singing are legendary and unique.

Ustad ji was an extremely handsome man in his youth.
terrific. So humble and his handspeed is phenomenal!. Pls ask him a qn, why this style of holding the table is important/merits/demerits? I am always fascinated this way of playing. Thank you bhai!
