For anyone wondering how I got the true REV00 (original spike damage behavior), I asked the creator for it. Sorry to say, but nobody else can have it. I'm not allowed to share it. The creator didn't think anyone would enjoy or download that version. According to him, one mistake is usually a cruel punishment, especially in this hack. He was one of those people who would rather play with the spike damage behavior modified, so he modified it and released that version officially. The version I have is unofficial. He asked me not to spread that version, so that's what I'm currently sticking to. He doesn't have any plans to release that version whatsoever, so it can never be available for download. If you want to play with the original spike damage behavior, you will have to enter the level select code, then enter the debug code from "Sonic 2 (16-bit)". Once that's done, highlight Sound Test and press Start to go to the Sega screen (as if you were starting from power on). The only downside to this is you won't be able to TRULY start from power on (like I have) because the game starts with the spike damage behavior already modified.
At the start, I was wondering what you were doing going back and forth on sections so I decided to look at the description to maybe get some answers. Sure enough I got them. Some of the music remix ain't too bad. I didn't hear any drowning music on Labyrinth's Act 1, 3 and Scrap Brain Act 3. Only heard it on Act 2 during the chase. Nice. I like how you got a 1-up defeating the last Boss. About that True Rev 00 thing, that's the spike' true behavior from Sonic 1 on the Genesis before the ports correct? Whenever you hit a spike, if you happened to get knocked to another spike you die instead of the temporary invincibility from the ports. I think that should've stayed for this hack since this IS supposed to be a very hard re-imagined version of Sonic 1. It has "Master Edition" in its title you know. That is just my opinion.
#1, I wanted to show as much of the level as possible. #2, I wanted to try doing the levels without using the added Spin Dash as much as possible. #3, it was to reset certain patterns (fireball patterns were the most dangerous and annoying in Star Light). 'Out of tune' music doesn't bother me. In fact, that's what got me to record the "Master Edition" series (excluding the 1st one made by NovaWizard) in the first place. I wanted to clear those levels without triggering the drowning theme once (except during the boss battle, as it's pretty much impossible to avoid triggering the drowning theme). Considering how hard the true final boss is (extremely hard, to be precise), it deserves to be worth over 50,000 points, which gives an extra life (added in this hack, aside from the Japanese version). Hardest boss by far, maybe in the entire "Master Edition" series. The true final boss was made by TheBlad768. Yes. Only exception is the timer resets upon restarting from the checkpoint after getting a time over (like in "Sonic 3 & Knuckles"). The player also restarts from the checkpoint after getting a game over and using a continue (like in "Sonic 3 & Knuckles"). In the original REV00, after touching the checkpoint, the timer does not reset upon restarting from the checkpoint after getting a time over. Only way to reset the timer is to get a game over, use a continue, and restart at the beginning of the level. Vega talked to me about the spike damage behavior. He was originally going to release both versions (one with original spike damage behavior and one with modified spike damage behavior). As he was preparing to release the hack, he changed his mind at the last minute, which disappointed me because I wanted both versions. Instead, he modified the spike damage behavior with the option to change it back to the original spike damage behavior by adding the debug code from "Sonic 2 (16-bit)". After that, he released it officially.
Ah I see. Not triggering the drowning theme is an achievement / trophy itself I think. Oh! Timer doesn't reset in that version? I didn't notice that. Interesting. Oh. I wonder why he changed his mind? Only he knows. Considering the hack's purpose in making Sonic 1 hard for the people wanting a challenge, it's a weird choice releasing the modified one but he must have had some reason. Thanks for the additional information William.
Apparently, the sprite was too complicated to implement. Vega wasn't a professional hacker like the others were, which is one of the reasons why there was no dust coming out of the Spin Dash in this hack. He often asked TheBlad768 for help on certain things, like resetting the timer on using a continue upon restarting at the checkpoint after getting a time over. As for the Special Stages, he decided not to edit them this time.
Vega told me that he will take so long on trying to make that hack because he said he doesn't have enough skill on touching up mania yet. He also said he needs some time to study on how to. So chances are that hack might be completed by fall of 2019 I'm not sure were just gonna have to wait and see. Then again I saw he was working on it in the fall of 2018.
@@GamerBoy9930 sonic master edition mania! It's like this because a few weeks ago I thought Vega would never make a master edition of the game so i decided to do it myself.
Willian, vlad, vega, and other, i love your series of master edition, and I have a question, will there be a sonic cd master edition 5 with the ability to save, etc. just I like these complicated hacks, and if it's possible to do similar to Sega CD, it would be fun, for example, you can pass the level only after a good future, thereby placing large walls, so it was not possible to pass, or instead the finish point gap. and after getting all the time stones, you can go desert dazzle zone, after the final put on the second act of his boss, as it was in master edition 4 final phase, I'm not a programmer, but I can throw ideas can be scheme, if of course I'll appreciate, I can speak Russian, thank you for reading, waiting for an answer))

You're welcome.
I know this is too late and all but is there a reason why Vega didn't edit the sonic 1 sprite along with the special stages?

Is there any progress on the Sonic Mania - Master Edition mod that you know of other than the two videos Vega made on the game?
I have no idea on that one.

There is no hex editor for "Sonic CD", so chances are there will not be a "Master Edition V" for that game.
