I love the previous albums but I have to admit I really like the new sound too
His voice is just so beautiful it's like magical listening to it

Kayne Jacques it’s funny cuz I just listen to Johnny in a radio show yesterday and he did say that while making this album he broke his foot. It’s also really cool too that he said that any song that he comes out with comes with no BS it’s all true to his life and real

At first I hesitated to listen to this album in fear I might be let down but holy shit.... I love this new sound.. It's fuckin great. Y'all have no songs I dislike. From one of the earliest songs I know of (smile on) to this, I'm amazed...
A month since this album was released and I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING THIS ALBUM!! completely different from what we have heard from highly suspect before but still absolutely amazing, I just love their sound!! Hope they come to NZ soon

You know what? Even with the popish sound, this band is still awesome. Although I miss the guitar in most of the songs of MCID, I somehow identify with some lyrics and the band kept its place in my music file :3

It seems like an experimental album. I'm impressed by the bands ability to morph into other styles but its like they've lost something.

honestly my biggest problem with this album isn't the album itself, but rather the fact that johnny stevens thinks this is the bands best work
It’s more curiosity more than anything. They really don’t want to be limited by one style of music. And since it’s their music it’s respectable

man... i grew up on rap. within the last two or three years of playing guitar, I've dropped rap and became a huge rock fan. now this isn't bad rap necessarily, but it's so basic. lyrics like: i broke my left foot I can still kick heat.
that's just basic. it's not saying anything, it doesn't sound aesthetically pleasing, etc. maybe it's just because I prefer a witty intelligent rap verse like kendrick, mick jenkins, etc. but a lot of this just feels like an an amateur side project that could've been done in a week or two... the highly suspect elements that the band is built on, don't exist. I understand progression and evolution, but what I don't understand is becoming a new band with a new sound and claiming to hate rock n roll. this really should've been released as a side project rather than acting like it was the best thing the world had yet to see. still love highly suspect, I it sounds like Johnny is going through a lot of hard times and my heart goes out to him. I respect and look up to jihhny as a musician, songwriter, performer, etc. but let this album be a wake up call, you all are way to talented to settle. you could've made a sick psychedelic rock album with all this new synth shit you're doing, you could've even put a few rap verses on it... if anything, combine the sounds, dont do a compete 180 on fans
Well stated! My son said Johnny needed more heartbreak in his life to make that great sound again. But totally agree with you. Maybe go back to Bogata Columbia where they recorded the last masterpiece... Johnny has the talent no doubt and I will still see the concert in February. Saw them in Dallas and Denver the last few years.

You say that however he uses his experiences to make their music and he actually did break his foot so him adding that is just keeping to their roots of mostly keeping the material original to them
Waiting for the sounds that locked me in. This is good, but for me it lacks everything that drew me to the band.
I think it's natural for a band to grow and evolve. Embrace it, their souls are still very much intact and you can hear that in the new songs. That's what matters to me. Having been an acoustic musician for the last 20 years and more recently being blindsided by a love of synthesizers I had no idea I had. They are REALLY fucking fun to create sounds with and I've never made so much music since I've gotten my hands on a few. Sound design opens up all new parts of a musician's brain. I salute these motherfuckers. Well fucking done!
Lyrics were ever outstanding good. It's not the element of Rap that disturbs me! it's the absence of guitarplay that lets me starve.

@@flarfadelic5654 I dislike the "evolve" excuse. It's one thing to grow and expand your sound but they are literally changing genres. Might as well be a different band. If Slayer started making indie rock, should their fans just accept it?
A proper form of "evolution" would be the Deftones. They manage to always evolve, experiment and change their sound while sounding like themselves and keeping true to what they are at the core. And stuff that sounds way different that Chino does, always comes out as separate side projects such as Team Sleep, Crosses, Palms, etc. he never releases it as Deftones music.
Even Maynard with Tool, he formed A Perfect Circle to make music with a different sound and aesthetic, he didn't just release it as Tool music. Most these new Highly Suspect songs really should be a Johnny side project under a different name because Highly Suspect built their name and fanbase on ROCK and this new stuff isn't it. Tokyo Ghoul is probably the best example.

Sean Abel yeah, kind of crazy to me bc I know they’re not as big as they deserve, I’m guessing this is their way to grow. I know Johnny has posted a lot about wanting to have a diverse sound with a diverse audience, idk though, I think switching up that sound on a third album? Seratonia, Vanity, Claudeland, Lydia, Lost. Those songs-their music-was the only reason I wanted to own an electric guitar, I don’t get that inspiration out of this album. If it’s what they wanted though, good on them. I’ll still be here waiting for the next
Caroline R the lack of cohesion is the confusing part for me. I don’t mind the various sounds. I’m going to listen to the whole album and see if I can get a story. If I can get a theme, I’m cool. Every album or song doesn’t have to be a banger, but just don’t have me saying WTF?

Dammit, this is now the 3rd or 4th song I've previewed on this new album that made me wonder if I Prevail wrote these songs. Shit! No heart and soul! Where'd it go? It isn't the rock music not being there, it's the hip hop that's just meh.

Highly Suspect has been a band for a long time. Go back to the Gang Lion EP. You could hear sublime influences from when they were a sublime cover band. EVERY band is gonna change. Either change eith em or find different music. Stop complaining. If it's not your music, it's not. Just say it's not your thing without trying to sound cool and edgy lol

Personally , I loved songs like lost , bloodfeather and bath salts . It just felt more complete and soulful .
