- At 5:20 you will see the cart escalator. This is defiantly not your typical Wal-Mart or Sam's Club. At the border of Lake Highlands and Vickery Meadows in Dallas, Texas is where you can find this 3 level Wal-Mart/Sams' Club combination. This is at a development called Timber Creek Crossing. As you can see, there is a three level parking garage in front of the structure. On the bottom level of the garage is Sam's Club and a Sam's Gas Station. The second level is parking and you can see into Sam's Club and the third floor is Wal-Mart Supercenter. You will also see the escalators and the cart escalator. There is also a JC Penny at this location. Land is scarce in this part of Dallas, hence the 3 level store combination. This was a ghetto apartment complex before the redevelopment.
Walmart and Sam’s Club should definitely build more stores like these, but it will take years to complete

I woke up from a dream that I saw a multi-story building that combines a Walmart and a Sam’s Club, and apparently that idea was already put in practice.
There is a 3 story Walmart in Grundy, Virginia. We got it good here in Grundy!
I have seen a cart escalator only once and that was at a target. In Australia, anyone with luggage, a cart or stroller is instructed to use an elevator instead of even staying on an escalator.
I never saw anything like that 'special elevator' before..andnever have I saw a Walmart on the 3rd level of a parking garage....very interesting .
That's what I went there after I went to Galveston and Houston before we get to Oklahoma City
@rhymeandreasoning I think it is the first one like it in the lower 48. Land is scarce in this area, so they saved land by stacking them. Walmart and Sam's Club side by side eats a lot of land plus all the surface parking. The Walmart opened last Wednesday August 17,2011 and Sam's Club will open September 8.

@rhymeandreasoning It is a highly developed area and there is not any empty land. Every time they have to build something new in this area they have to tear something down. This Walmart/ Sams Club replaced an apartment complex. This is in City of Dallas in an area where they land is all used up. Out in the suburbs they have plenty of land.
And I thought my local Walmart was big...
The Sam's Club was not open when this video was taken. It opened a few weeks later.

Very Similar to the newish Whole Foods a few blocks away on Greenville Ave in the Park Lane development. There are stores below, but they face the rear of Whole Foods onto a streetscape
This area is very population dense for a sunbelt city like Dallas. Not in dense in the traditional European or even Northeastern US tradition, but more because of tens of thousands of garden style apartments, traditional neighborhoods and millions of square feet of retail.
Interesting concept. I was wondering what if Target and Costco would work together by revitalize multi-level stores like that at Valley View Center in North Dallas?

Sam's family belive it or not has a 3 story Walmart in Los Angeles,It was formerly The Braoadway that went out of business about a couple of decades ago.

@CaltecCenter I haven't been in the JC Penny but I asked a lot of people who have been and everyone said it is one floor.
And The JCPenney Closed last year

The three story L.A. Walmart also has the shpping basket escallator,so you see that isn't nothing new.

@020808 I live in Montreal, Canada..I showed a friend of mine your video, and she told me that out in Alberta they have the elevator thing..I have never personally seen one ever, and there are definitely none here in Montreal....Why is it that land is scarce? I am almost scared to know what the answer will be.
