Hellendoorn Rally 2023 - Best of

The 41. Eurol Hellendoorn Rally 2023 lived up to its reputation as biggest rally in the Netherlands with over 100 entries in the main field and more than 40 historics as well. Especially the historic field offered great variety with exotics like Ferrari 308 GTB, Lancia Rally 037, Ford Mustang coupe, Volvo Amazone or Ford Capri tackling the mixed-surface stages.
Jos Verstappen, father of current F1 champion Max Verstappen, was clearly the fastest driver in the main field with codriver Renaud Jamoul in the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. But a mistake on the final test of Friday afternoon cost more than two minutes and the rally victory. In the end, the pair missed the podium by a mere 3,3 seconds.
Bernhard ten Brinke and Davy Thierie won the event in another Škoda ahead of Germans Björn Satorius and Jara Hain in a Ford Fiesta Rally2. Third place went to Kevin van Deijne and Hein Verschuren (Hyundai i20N Rally2).

De quality van de drivers is er op achteruit gegone in vergelijk met 20 year ago. Met name the drivestyle van de oudere crosscars uit the 80's en 90's jaren. Wat een prutsers drive daar between.
