And the best Uncle award goes to "Uncle Keith" 🏅. Nicely done mate. Great project. Good clean laminations 😁. A great development toy. Thanks for the video 😁👍
These are great! I’ve made a few of them for my kids and friends & family, the great thing is that once the form is made they’re pretty easy to churn out! The company that makes these charge a small fortune for them, so you’ve saved a few quid for sure!
Nice toy, and great for balancing skills. The kid loves it. The adult version is called a "rola bola", a flat board perched on top of a tube (I use a PVA plastic drain pipe). The rola bola is a lot more dangerous to use, but much easier to make.
It is gorgeous and your niece seem very happy with the board. It also reminds me a kind of chairs that was made in the 70s , maybe you should consider making one of these since your laminations is perfect !!! Cool job !!!!!!!!!
I had to laugh when I saw your niece, the way you were talking about it should be ok because with can hold your weight, I expected to see a teenager! 😆😆😆😆 Nice build, mate and schmicko no gap lamination! 👍🏽
I have never seen one of these before but it looks like a great idea. I would say our little one is just about at the age where she could try it. Another project to add to my list of things to do in the shed!
Was hoping your brother would try it out, perhaps by the edge of a lake, to increase the comedy of his tumble. Good build, I have never tried curving ply but now I want to have a go. Impressive that you made it without voids. Happy new year.
That was awesome. Came across you out of the blue as you do on here. Now I'd like to attempt to make a balance board Cheers fella and happy new year to you and the family
That's an awesome project and seeing your niece playing on it was really amazing. I actually thought that you were making it for someone several years older so seeing her playing on it and using it with a rocking motion was so sweet, cute, brilliant and a TON of other awesome words!! I wish we had had one of these for our kiddies........ and I'm just thinking of a slightly bigger one for my 8 year old daughter. Thanks for this. Happy New Year 👍👍👍👍👍
Just wondering if when you build something amazing like this and you've made the jig, do you then get the desire to batch out 10 or more of them? or is that just me.
@@RagnBoneBrown you've gone to all the effort of building the jig, would seem a shame not to especially as you already have a shop set up. Beautiful product.
. . . and the final element that added to the success of the lamination glue-up was the use of the cauls to help distribute the clamping pressure. Thanks for your time

Thanks for sharing the video. That's a great gift. The possibilities of decorating it are numerous. Now you've made the mould for it, eventually next boards will probably be produced faster. Are you going to do something about the low temperatures in your shop? 5 degrees doesn't seem very pleasant to me.

These are also very good for injury rehabilition. I tore a calf muscle really badly yearsago nd part of my rehab was to use a flat wooden wobble board with a half ball shape underneath to re-learn balance. Also, my son had a doubel hip oeration last year and we had to buy him a rubber wobble board (circlular with rounded top and bottom) to help him strengthen his hips, towards the end of his rehabilation. The one I had to use was quite different to this one, so I might make one myself, to show what it looked like.
@@RagnBoneBrown I used 3 sheets of 4 mm ply for some chair seats I made. My experience with the 3rd layer was that I needed a lot of force and had to make a set of extra battens to be able to bend the curve (the raw seat is 60x70 cm and the bend is about 70 mm in the middle). Besides the extra effort bending a 3rd layer, using fiber/poly would also keep the weight down, which might be a good selling argument. All in all, I love such smart "inventions" as you did here, and it definitively manifests your position in the Makers community.
Another great video thank you. Just a quick question. Are you troubled by condensation in your workshop as it’s so cold. Mine gets quite damp when it’s cold outside and wondered if you had a solution. Thanks gavin..
Bit of a random question, but where did you pick up the weights you used to hold the OSB down? I'd really like some like that but not sure where to get them. Enjoyed the video!
Great toy for building her balance. She is adorable.
What a good uncle she has!
Keith that's a great toy, and will definitely help with ballance, motor skills and coordination. Little one will be an athlete😊

Well Done! And beautiful.

Aw. She is really cute! I love that balance board. The ocean waves and snowy mountains are waiting for her. So fun!
Wonderful design, I'm glad she likes it. So cute.
A great video and nice to see the new workshop in action!

Love this! We bought a Wobbel board for our children a few years ago and it is still one of their favourites. Great gift and really nicely finished.
