boaz was 80 years old. Probably not single. Naomi and Ruth only waited a night, not years.
King Daniel I don’t see this as a love story. I see Ruth laying humbly at his feet. “Under his feet” is also the place where our defeated enemies are placed. It’s where EVERYTHING is under Christ’s feet. This important. Naomi asked her to do something culturally that meant laying humbly at his feet offering herself as your personal servant. This is how we’re supposed to give ourselves as living sacrifices, holy, and acceptable to God.
It wasnt that big of a surprise to boaz...it was his kindness that gave Naomi the idea.
Naomi Beery I agree. He wasn’t just giving Ruth grain, he was taking care of his own widowed sister-in-law in a culturally acceptable way. I don’t see it as a love story between Ruth and Boaz. Ruth offered her lifelong servitude in order to restore Naomi’s property. She loved her mother-in-law. And she also wanted to give her husband, Naomi’s son, an heir. She is a perfect picture of a living sacrifice.
