50 years ago, Canadian icon Andy Kim wrote a pop song that would
quickly take over the airwaves and become the sleeper summer hit of 1969.
50 years later, the song remains one of the catchiest ever written.
That song is Sugar Sugar, and we just needed to celebrate its 50th birthday!
So, we got in touch with Andy, invited some friends, booked some studio time
in Toronto, and recorded a very special 50th anniversary version of Sugar Sugar.
The result is Sugar Sugar 50, and we love it! Hope you do to, honey...

LOVE IT FIFTY YEARS LATER. I remember dancing to this song over fifty years ago and I can't thank Andy enough for writing it with Jeff. It has always always been MY song.
My first record ever. Got to play it in the living room on the Big People Stereo and dance my little 3 year old butt off until I passed out. Oh - and the "record" was an 8 track! Still listen to this song and it feels like the first time hearing it over and over. Just part of my soul!
Sugar, Sugar is the ultimate anti-depressant!!! The happiest song I can think of.

Love it! Being a cartoon fan as well as an Archies fan (even when it wasn't considered cool), it would be cool if someone took this audio and animated it as Archie Andrews' 50th Riverdale High School reunion with the entire class as the chorus.

That was really awesome!! Great hearing this great song with such a great backing choir!! Of course, I remember first hearing this in the old Archies & Sabrina the Teenage Witch cartoons 😃 Now, I'm very much hoping Choir! Choir! Choir! can get Mr. Austin Roberts to sing one of his awesome "Scooby-Doo chase scene" songs from the 1970 season :-) That'd be so cool!!

Sugar, Sugar -the single was by the Archies. "Archie" was a Saturday morning cartoon show based on the comic book series with Archie, Veronica, Jughead, etc. It was the ORIGINAL bubble gum pop song.

I remember when this record came out on the back of a cereal box! SUGAR PUFFS! AKA... Golden Crisp with SuGAR Bear!! I was like 6 and I couldnt wait till that box was empty so I could cut that record out and play it!!...Hotdam our generation was awesome! Cant say that enough!!

That was great! I saw Andy Kim at the first music concert I ever attended. I was 13 years old - he opened for Gary Puckett and the Union Gap in Montreal and I had a MAD crush on him. I even got his autograph!

Didnt know this was Andy Kims song. Only version I ever heard back in the day was by The Archies who I believe were just a Studio group. Enjoyed this performance thoroughly.
He helped write it. It was recorded by Ron Dante under the fictional group, The Archies.
