If that makes between 730 and 750 hp STD, it is more like 690 to 715 SAE compared to the corvette. That’s well in line with how it walked the corvette at speed.
Nobody wants to give props or talk about the fact that the Z06 is as fast or potentially faster than a car that is 250k. The cheapest corvette zo6 is around 100k.
What’s crazy is that the Z06/Z07 will absolutely eviscerate a 600 LT on a circuit! The 600 LT is my personal favorite Mac, but it wouldn’t stand up against a Z07 with a good track driver on on a circuit where it belongs. These were some good ass races though, man. Awesome job as always, Brooks!
Not disagreeing but realize it’s all down to the tire, it’s not like Chevrolet engineers are some magicians or are more capable than Mclaren but rather Mclaren engineers care more about having better steering feel and being the best drivers cars than outright lap times. This isn’t anything new as the domestic manufacturers have gone after crazy lap times mostly by fitting the stickiest/widest/most aggressive tires they can even with all the negatives that may bring to the car on the street
@@jameswillard1 That was indeed true for the C7 generation (at least, some of it), but for the C8, and now C8 Z06, GM didn’t just tack on big aero and big sticky tires to the car and call it a day. From what reviewers and journalists alike have said about the car during their testing and hot laps, the Z06, outside of the steering feeling a bit numb, is an honest to God driver’s car with incredible balance, handling, and responsiveness. When your car is put up there right with a GT3 in terms of how good it feels to drive, it’s no longer a simple matter of throwing the biggest tires and aero at the car and hoping for the best. If you haven’t already, I recommend watching SavageGeese’s exhaustive coverage on the Z06 and all that went into its production and mission statement. I would also recommend watching their coverage on the Camaro ZL1 1LE from a few years back, as that is a good example of domestic manufacturers doing more than throwing big everything at their cars.
@@jameswillard1 The Z06 wasn't designed to be a numbers car. It was designed to be a nice car with a visceral experience (especially when it comes to sound) that happens to be decent on track. American cars have the widest tires because they are heavier and need the support. Narrower tires create higher pressure on the ground, but not necessarily more grip. This is why lightweight dedicated track monsters like the Mclaren Senna carry 245/315 tires, while heavier cars like the Lamborghini aventador carries 255/355 tires, and even heavier cars like the Bugatti Veyron carries 265/365 tires. The width is to support the weight. The tire compound is what makes it grippy, and European cars generally have the more grippy compounds first. For example Porsche had Michelin pilot sport cup 2 R tires since 2017, while Chevrolet only got them in 2023.
Daniel what evidence do you have that a Z06/Z07 will 'eviscerate a 600LT' at the track? The LT's are always fantastic performers on the track, although I'm not suggesting the 600LT is the faster car, the Z06 is going to have to be Porsche GT3RS levels of track fast to 'eviscerate' the 600LT. I'm wondering if you've seen the two compared on the same day/same driver or in some head-to-head you can share with us?
I expected the 600LT to move out better off the line, but once it was rolling it was clearly faster than the C8. I'm thinking the lap times would be noticeably quicker in the Mac as it's lighter and makes more power, but I haven't looked into it.
Those are stock 600LT numbers, maybe the tiniest improvement in ET, but effectively a stock 600LT. You could also see it doing weird things as he was getting passed
Something is wrong with that 600LT, it's putting in slower times than the standard car does. I've no idea what's going on there but it's not a 750hp LT for sure!
FYI.. there is a pressure sensor on the steering wheel that is tied to the mid throttles on the intake. If you push harder on the steering wheel on the launch the car will open more the mod throttles creating more torque and launching harder.
I just commented in another video that I would never trade my Mclaren 570S for a C8 Z06 but I begin to second guess myself after videos like this lol..
I suspect it wasn't down on power. The 600LT in this video is slower than the factory standard car. I think the 600LT is making nowhere near the power of the Z06 but remains faster due to better aero and less weight.
Good races! Brooks you crack me up though. Usually you are spot on with the tree. Struggled a bit today. But what cracked me up was you inside the Z06 watching you like mashing the gas pedal harder makes the thing go faster. I just found that funny. However, It looks like the exhaust on the Z06 was done to change the exhaust note but not adding any performance because I see totally stock Z06's running 10.5's, 10.4's regularly easy. Even seen one guy, totally stock Z06 which had been set-up properly running 10.0's at over 130. Anyway, nice job!
As far as I am concerned the C8 won regardless. American muscle yet again is better value over Euro brands. The fact that it nearly beat a tuned / mod’d 600LT is amazing considering IT IS 1/2 the price!. McClaren’s drop like a lead weight in value from new but they’re great cars. Buying one new at MSRP is insane to me though. Buying a clean, used, 1-owner car is the only way those things make any financial sense. Unless they’re the very high value top models and specs that hold their value extremely well due to rarity, ultra low production numbers, etc.

@Henderson C A $10k civic runs 10.6 in a quarter mile?
Yea put that 600LT back to stock lmao there’s literally clips of bone stock 570S right here on RUclips in 82 degree air running 10.3 at 134mph and this is a “730hp” 600LT…..🥴🤡
Warum hat der lt600 das erste Rennen gewonnen ??? Die Zeiten habe etwas anderes angezeigt .
My problem with Vettes is that they never seem to have much on the top end. While a 1/4 mile time of 10.4s is pretty good for a 670hp supercars, I was expecting a trap speed of (at least) 130mph, from the Z06. Still an amazing car! And it sounds fantastic!!
some have done 134 MPH
131 mph is almost the same as a stock 600lt. Confused. Yoked dudes muscle must be made of lead.... added 1000 lbs.
Yeah, Something is not right with 600LT. I would normally blame the DA but the Z06 is running in the same DA. I would think the trap speed differential should be 8 mph+ given the respective mods.
This is gonna be amazing. I already know it let’s go.
That 600lt is slow as af. Whoever set that car up, lied!
A chase is a race
That McLaren is sweet! But for half the price, the Corvette is an easy choice for me.
These results gonna blow me away tho cause its faster than expected, its so agile and loud, the whole fiasco going on here, the vids dont do justice, im laughing cause the 600lt lost, vividly rmrnber the c7 zr1 smoking a 600lt
Brooks holding that steering wheel so hard just to go straight. You could literally use one finger.
Makes him look like a proper racer in his automatic vehicle
If that makes between 730 and 750 hp STD, it is more like 690 to 715 SAE compared to the corvette. That’s well in line with how it walked the corvette at speed.
Say what want. These races are fixed!!!. Trying to make Z06 looks good. HP + weight and race results do not add up.
Damn the Z06 is fast,, can imagine the ZR1 when it comes
That Vette seems to consistently beat other cars off the line, it just doesn't quite seem to stay with it once speeds increase.
Nobody wants to give props or talk about the fact that the Z06 is as fast or potentially faster than a car that is 250k. The cheapest corvette zo6 is around 100k.
That Z06 downshift reminds me of coughing with strep throat 😣
the shifts sound way quicker and smoother on the Mclaren. lighter flywheel?
600LT twin turbo V8. Z06 N/A V8
You're bugging Tf out I'd you think a z06 is destroy a 600lt on track lol.
10.5 is faster than 10.4?
Would be cool to see it race a stock 600LT.
That MPH and trap speed is roughly what you'd see from a stock 600LT.
@@rustler08 135 for stock 600lt
@@danmyers9372 and you should get that back and more with the mods
Love the look of the 600LT. Is it me or were the older generations of McLarens better looking than the newest ones?
I expected the 600LT to move out better off the line, but once it was rolling it was clearly faster than the C8. I'm thinking the lap times would be noticeably quicker in the Mac as it's lighter and makes more power, but I haven't looked into it.
That vet is bad ass
That is a freakin race!!!
Is high altitude an advantage or not? Because the higher you are, the less horsepower engine makes
I want to see Brooks drive a GT500, because his cheeks seem to make cars hook.
I was expecting from that 600 LT to wax the Z06 especially with Downpipes and tune , looks like stock 600 LT has no chance
Those are stock 600LT numbers, maybe the tiniest improvement in ET, but effectively a stock 600LT. You could also see it doing weird things as he was getting passed
Stock 600lt is faster lol
@@jozefjozefczyk3936 stock is faster than tuned ? What type of crack are u smoking ?
Something is wrong with that 600LT, it's putting in slower times than the standard car does. I've no idea what's going on there but it's not a 750hp LT for sure!
Z06 sounds so mean is that exhaust modded???
Anyone know what wheels are on the 600lt?
FYI.. there is a pressure sensor on the steering wheel that is tied to the mid throttles on the intake. If you push harder on the steering wheel on the launch the car will open more the mod throttles creating more torque and launching harder.
I just commented in another video that I would never trade my Mclaren 570S for a C8 Z06 but I begin to second guess myself after videos like this lol..
Zo6 held up surprisingly well for being down on power and heavier 🔥
Do you ever plan on tracking these cars that are obviously meant for the track and not just straight line?
At least the 600LT can always get a job as a weed whacker if the whole racing thing doesn’t work out.
Modded Mclaren is the faster car 🇬🇧
Brooks is the faster driver 💪🇺🇲
Either the 600 is not making that much power or the driver is just terrible at launching lol
Corvettes doing what they do whip up on euros finest .
And people in the comments on another video were telling me that the 600LT would blow the Z out of the water....
