I love this version! Bobby Orlando will always be the king of High Energy! this was the very first version of West End Girls... they didn't get on with Bobby so they left and did their own thing, Much love, High Energy is my favourite music genre, i make my own music in this style under Night Energy please gimme a lil love x
Never heard this before. Feels more edgy and raw but i can see why the reworked version was a commercial success - much better, more sophisticated production, appealed to a wider audience. Plus the vid was contemporary which is now a brilliant piece of film/London history
I still have a copy of this somewhere. It is very different to the version that charted the following year. I remember hearing this version played in the clubs, but didn't know who the PSB's were until they exploded in 1985. I just thought this was an obscure club track, which it was I suppose. Certainly not mainstream.
A fashion girl gave this version to me on tape, 1984 I guess? I still remember her room, wildly colored, with heaps of textile. It was winter with lots of snow. I parked my car in a low part of that street. Very hard to get out of that hole...wheels slipped endless. That neighborhood has been demolished since decades.
I'm glad I saw this today and not 3 years from now! Thanks for the incredible breaking news story! I can only imagine what that letter with the original 12" would have sold for anywhere else. David Prior is a very lucky journalist to have found that and the store owner didn't try to price gouge him
Is there such thing as a place where there are no interpersonal misunderstandings?? DAMN, I'd love to know where that might be!! 😅 But hey, at least I can always hear people make good music on RUclips, no matter where I am... 🎶
Carlos, is this some original video dated 1984 and showing London‘s West End? Or did you add a video of the 80s to the song? Best version of West End Girls, I‘ve heard it at Club Pacha, Ibiza in 1984 and still love it.
Somewhere around 2010 the world started down a path that brings us to this present hell-hole we call life. Looking back to what we once had is all we can hope for now. Things are too far gone now to be changed.
This is Soho, most of the skinny fashionable people are socialites and club kids starving themselves and taking lots of drugs, the average person in any period of history is not nearly this glamorous!
Clearly some one that doesnt have a clue about Mr "O" was and appreciate the kind of Genre he created that still keeps getting played today but in other forms.
Could have been a preview of the HUNGER to come in latter years, when we had to hit the food Banks......we did it in Arizona....no laughing matter......that's for sure
@@VAGCOMM He preferred East End boys over West End girls, but had to pretend the whole song is about the other way 'round. Poor, thing, he just ain't into the Vag(comm)! 😅

This is the version I remember dancing to in 85/86!
Early '84
I can never get enough of Bobby O’s version! I’m not being sarcastic-- I love (and miss) the 80’s clap-track! 👏
Post punk, Punk, Goths, New romantic. Dark Wave, New wave. I l❤ved the video.
SHAKERS..Vancouver West Georgia Street..where East End Boys met West End(Side) girls👩🦽🥂
Bobby Orlando was one of the most underestimtated artist of it's time
Visited London last month with this song in my ear... magical 🙂
Agradezco el mix PSB 👌y muy interesante las imagenes 👋✌️

Check out the article up on the BBC News site today titled "How a 'priceless' Pet Shop Boys letter ended up in an Altrincham record shop" :)

Legendäre 😎
Awesome 😀 the first two minutes of the video are great with all the new wave outfits
Are those the Blitz kids?
Probably in England but it could be Melrose in LA from that time period.
❤️❤️❤️
I sang West End Girls at a karaoke on Sunday night.

It is REALLY LUCK to live in places where there are no interpersonal misunderstandings and where we CAN make good music.

@@crystalidentity RIGHT NOW, you ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Better RUclips than nothing. Thank you for your comment.
Has a Harold F style sound also...
this needs more cowbell
Cowbell on 16th notes
Play loud in the car...
How cool
Cool verson of a classic song, also loved the video of people just being people, looks like mid 70's?
Its definitely not 1985
Show Man!!!!!

First version❤
I like this version for a bit of whimsy and fashion sense.

Meglio quella dell'album please. È più completa, cantata meglio. Al livello sonoro è più professionale.
Si sente che questa è più amatoriale.

Might be a little too much cowbell
there is never too much cowbell :)
😂
so much better than the lame Stephen Hague version.
Тут много панка и постпанка
sounds amateurish like hell
What i can't stand being on the streets are couples holding hands and pushchairs😠😠😠😠
West end girls but the singer has crippling depression
Maybe because
He didn`t like Girls?)
