Love that Salem Sampler! I would go for "we are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn't burn" or maybe the first couple of lines from a poem spell from The Once and Future Witches.
Love your stitching but I also love your book reviews! I have been interested in trying contemporary romance but as a secret softie who trends cynical, I never "click" with typical romance; I usually have better luck with historical romance (and even then at a relatively dismal success rate). I have been collecting books to try from your reviews and look forward to my next library trip. Also thanks for the spoiler-free review of Onyx Storm; I just started Iron Flame so am a little behind the rest of the world. ;-)
I figured some people are still reading Iron Flame so I tried to be very careful! 😅 You might like Abby Jimenez or Emily Henry for your cynical heart! 🤣 They are not sappy and saccharine!
I agree with you about the church steeple. I love Plum Street but I often change things that are not historically correct (like an American flag on a sampler dated 1774). I read a lot about our colonial and revolutionary times so I spot things like that. Maybe your building would have a bell on top, like the schoolhouse/church on Little House on the Prairie. Happy Stitching!
Well darn, I was going to jump right into Onyx Storm, but now I think I need to do a re-read of 1 and 2 first. But I know I’ll enjoy reading those again too. I’m excited for Stitch North again too!
Ohhhhh that Don't Feed the Plants is on my list. Maybe I'll kit that one up later this year. It is so beautiful! It'll be fun to see your progress on that one! The called for fabric is gorgeous!
I'm going to wait for the Witchy Stitcher tarot ones until they're all released because I collected the sabbats from that designer. Then they were put in a listing for all of them. And I prefer being able to get all of a thing at the same time (mostly because I'm lazy lol).
Julie!! Greetings from Dallas! Another stellar video! Looking forward to seeing you at Stitch North in May! Going on a small retreat in February to Phoenix so will be visiting The Attic. I’m very excited . Hugs!! ❤️
Hi Julie I am listening to Fourth Wing through Audible. I do have the Physical Copy of the Book. Love your Finishes and your WIPS. Beautiful Stitching. Beautiful Projects. Take Care & Happy Stitching - Reading ❤️🤗🧵🪡🧵🔰❤️
I was excited when I first saw The Salem Sampler, but then I saw the quote. The choice to include a quote from Cotton Mather, one of the witch trials' most fervent supporters, seems off to me. This piece could have been an opportunity to honor the innocent lives lost during the Salem trials, but instead, it features a sinister warning from Cotton Mather. Your idea of featuring the victims' words, or sentiments that reflect on a dark chapter of American history, would really change the tone of this piece and make it more poignant. Since I still want to stitch the piece, I will likely follow your lead and change the quote to something different. If you want a well-researched, if not a little long-winded, book about the witch trials, The Witches: Salem, 1692 by Stacy Schiff is pretty interesting.
Thank you for your insightful words! I took the Cotton Mather quote as a warning and showing how perilous this time in history was, but I do appreciate that it does not sit right with everyone. I will absolutely share when I decide on something different and happy to send you my rechart
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work! I totally agree the reveal in Onyx Storm for the thing we’ve all been wondering about was totally blah. I know Yarros will bring it around and it’ll be epic in the end, right now I’m not so sure 😂 I just followed you on Goodreads! -Katherine @accounting.my.stitches

I haven’t dug into it yet but I’ll “know it when I see it”
Thanks for keeping me company this rainy afternoon. ❤❤❤
I love your stitching most of all but thank you for posting your Good Reads profile. I enjoy your book recommendations.

I will definitely be researching! It’s something I don’t always think about or pay attention to, but once I “know” it, I can’t overlook it.
So agree with you about Abby Jimenez novels all of the ones I’ve read are amazing ❤
