2021 platinum owner here.... and I have the EXACT same issues with the AC and the brightness ! Thank you so much for this video , man. Taking it into the dealer shop this weekend ( 4/23/21 ) , and if I hear anything new I'll update here.
Completely unreliable car.. I had to lemon law a 2019 rogue sport. Purchased brand new and the first week of ownership it broke down, it’s been terrible since it’s been at the Nissan dealership broken 3 more times. once I reached 33k miles guess what.. Nissan said sorry can’t help you.
Just FYI on the SYNC button. It’s not a bug according to my Nissan - it’s because the rear is still synced (as you can see in the video). There’s a rear sync symbol and a passenger sync symbol. When you press sync, all three zones sync, if one of them breaks the sync, the light stays on because it’s still syncing with one of them. If you change the rear temp AND passenger, the sync button will turn off.
I have a 2021 Platinum - going on 2 months now, and had those heat/ac/sync dash issues. I thought I was crazy, but just found it to be a minor inconvenience. Now I see your note about the sync light being as it is supposed to be anyway. Twice I have gotten an error message that my oil service is due. WTH? I also have an issue with Apple Carplay dropping the wireless connection, so I gave up on it. The map does not display properly anyway - the one integrated with the nav system is much better for me. The other day my key fob just stopped working. I had to use the manual key to open the car door. Thought it was the battery, but I just kept pushing buttons and it started working again, and continues to now so who knows? I have looked up how to start it (hold the end of the fob up to the start button, supposedly) in case this happens again I love the car itself, but I am worried about all of the electronic issues. Hoping for software updates soon!! For now just compiling a list.
@@annamarieh333 I purchased mine on February 27, so just two months ago. I am compiling a list - seems to be some odd electronic issues. The latest for me is the seat not moving "back", when I turn off the car, for the easy-exit feature. Started working again today, but definitely some quirks here
Anything new that resolved the low battery voltage problem? Is it a alternator related problem? I would like to purchase a new Rogue but fear that it won't start in winter if left sitting for a day.
I guess I'll look at the Rogue in 2022. I started watching these Rogue videos and found I like them But I can't get stuck at work for a dead battery only owning the car 6 months. Thanks for the information.
July, 2021, i bought a 2021, GunmetaL gray, SV, AWD ModeL,..also bought 5 New, Falken, Wildpeak AT, Tires,..AWESOME, Tires👍Anyways,..Same my Rogue, on dash Light goes super dim when headlights are on, or goes super bright when headlights are off😳❓😳
It's a weird thing about the brightness of dash lights. Personally I like for them to turn down really low or even off for night driving. Then again, I live in a rural area with basically no street lights and lots of deer, so being able to see further down the road becomes essential. This is something I very much loved about Saabs and their 'night panel' function, where only a portion of the speedo was lit when activated.
For some reason I don't get _any_ notifications on YT anymore. Go figure. Anyway, "dash lighting in general" as in all cars, not just the Rogue. And yes, I did understand what you were talking about with the brightness settings while in night mode. Communication based purely on text is occasionally very misleading.
2023 Rogue, just picked it up 2 days ago and I'm having the exact same issues. Sad to say that this issue hasn't been addressed over a year later. Get it together Nissan.
9/13/21: 3 weeks ago, after picking my sister up from Same Day Surgery my 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum battery died. Male nurse came out and tried to jump it. Car had to be towed to Dealership. They finally said they had to replace the Battery. Car was purchased 7/3/21
I have 2021 Platinum Level rogue and ac does not work in any mode. Set at 61 or on low it blows hot air, set at any degree, it blows hot air. I drove it into the dealer on Sunday when it was 89 out and sweltering in my car with the ac on 61 blasting hot air. They said I could leave it and it maybe Wednesday before they could look at it, 4 days! Oh and they had no loner. The first actual appointment was in 10 days. It gets looked at Tuesday 6/1, there is also a recall already. Feeling pretty disillusioned with my new car.
Have the SL and have that same ac sync issue. Was driving me nuts til I saw this. Now at least I know and hopefully there’ll be a software fix. I don’t have the digital display but the brightness control is to the left of the steering column and was finding as I adjust the brightness down a step or two it gets real dim real fast and then the rest of the steps down make no difference. It’s not a biggie as the dimness is right for me now. Annoying little bugs on a really good car.
I know this is an old post, but maybe someone like me will be scrolling through 2 years later like I am. I own 2021 Rogue and the battery continually drains. I live in northern BC so winter can be hard on it, but drive it most days. Seemed to be fine through the -30c weather, we're now 0 celsius and after driving it all day yesterday, I remote started it twice, then went out to manually start it this morning to leave and it died. This is the second time this has happened in as many months. I called the dealership as the battery is under warranty (as I did last time), but once it's charged it is within Nissan standards, so they will not replace it. I was talking to one of the mechanics and they say that the alternator doesn't always run - it was designed that way for gas consumption (energy stuff that I'm not too up on). Anyway, I asked do I buy a new battery and his advice was to buy a battery tender and leave it connected all the time. It seems unfortunate that one would have to do this for a new vehicle, but the battery tender at approx. $100 is far cheaper than the new batteries at $300 every couple of years. Of course, the Nissan Dealership said they could install the tender for a fee of $500. Hahah Think I'll do it myself at that price! The Nissans have a constant drain on the battery with all the new tech, even if the fob is too close to the vehicle it will send signals. Most new vehicles have this issue as unfortunately, the battery manufacturing technology hasn't caught up yet. My husband's GMC had the same issue. My mom's Toyota - same issue. My friend's Honda, you guessed it - same issue.
I have a question - my Nissan Rogue 2021 the ac - the Nissan guy explained that even if you set a temperature - like cold 62 degrees if your car is colder than that it will still have the ac blow hot air - is there a way to get around this ?
Great video and thanks for posting. Was unaware of the battery issue and live in Canada where it gets pretty cold so I’ll keep an eye on this. Another software bug is the clock will sometimes be a few hours off and then correct itself when it updates after 69 seconds. Not a surprise having a few bugs for a new vehicle but I love my platinum was an happy with the purchase.
2021 Nissan rogue SV premium model 5 weeks old today. The digital dashboard went blank last week......just got a call from the dealer....the entire instrument panel needs to be replaced! At least they gave me a loaner.
Had my new rogue in at 1500 miles the dealership said it was a bad battery due to being a gel battery that maybe was old.... now I am at 6500 miles seems like the same problem again??? Back to dealership after I jump it this is starting to suck!!!!
I have a 2020 Rogue SL. Got it at the end of 2020. Have had nothing but problems with it from day one. Nissan could never fix the issues. The problems were Always under an engineering review with Nissan. Mine had to do with the safety sensors and the AEB system. my recommendation would be to pursue a lemon law case with a lemon law attorney. Nissan will keep dragging these issues out saying they are under an engineering review and never produce a fix for any problem. That is currently my situation. I purchased a Toyota RAV4 to replace this Nissan, has been a great vehicle. Definitely recommend.
I have a 2015 Rogue SL. Purchased in October 2015. The car is working great never had any mechanical problems to address so far. Only thing done was replacing new tires and normal oil changes and maintenance as recommended. CVT transmission is original no issues. Only things need replacing soon will be brakes and battery both are original. Seems you bought a lemon every manufacturer has a lemon wish got a CX-5 much fun to drive but enjoy the RAV4 even CR-V having some quality issues so Honda isn't what used to be, Nissan was same way new lineup isn't Renault written see all Nissan. Maybe I hope you be interested in the new 2022 Pathfinder non-CVT didn't put a bad taste mouth over Nissan.
Is it possible that the sync light does not go off when a front passenger turns the knob because it lets the driver know that the rear (passenger) unit is still in sync mode, unless perhaps the rear passenger also changes the temp setting, and THEN the sync light goes off?
My lights are doing the same thing but sometimes it thinks it’s dark outside and dims it real low when it’s bright and sunny. Also having issues with dash lights not showing up on dash when low
I have the Platinum and twice already I get an engine light on! I took it in and they didn't find anything on it and did a reset. After a few days it comes on again!
I'm in the works in getting a new 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum. The AC wouldn't be an issue for me and the instrument cluster brightness is a bug issue that can be fixed, but I'm worried about the battery draining. Any updates on this or any advice?
Battery drainage was a problem for the new rav4. It was some phone module for the sos button that should go in sleep mode when the car is not running. Could be fixed with a software update.
Just going to say what my experience is...My 2016 Altima has gone through 2 batteries within the past two years. I recently took it in because I noticed the Crank pulley(harmonic balancer) was wobbly/causing vibration & belt squeak (which is affecting all the pulleys.) they just (3 weeks ago) replaced the alternator, battery, belt, tensioner. Guess what I’m still having lights flicker & radio distortion. It’s simply the Crank Pulley (harmonic balancer) which I’m having them replace (finally) Friday!
2021 Nissan Rogue blowing hot air when ac is on. I have took it to the dealership twice and everytime they could not duplicate it. Is anyone know what it maybe
I have the 2021 ROGUE SV AWD and the issues for me now is my sync doesn't work at all. hot air coming from the drivers side vent and the passengers side vent is outside air. When you turn the passengers dial the sync light goes out and the temp. changes. They told me a recall is coming someday on this issue. My other problem is my windshield seal is damaged and is causing a rattle noise. The seal is on backorder since Mar.6. We bought a Covid year vehicle.
I have seen a few people with the driver vent temp issue. No idea if it’s related to a plant, trim or supplier batch. The platinum are from Japan and I haven’t seen any reports so who knows
@@thestig007 for me Toyota, Honda and Nissan are great brands, this vehicle seems to be a great vehicle, commonly the first year of a vehicle have some details, it doesn’t matter if it’s a Honda a Nissan a Toyota or Ford...
As a car handyman, I would not recommend. I bought the 2021 Rogue but regretting it. From top it looks nice but when you go under the car you can tell that it is cheaply built. I have owned toyotas in past & when I compare with toyota there is a big difference.
With 6,000 miles on my 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum I had a message "malfunction power reduced service now" come on and about three miles from home (12/31/21). Drove home and turned it off and started again and message didn't come back on. I've read where this could be a battery issue and wondered if anyone else has had this problem.
Unrelated comment/question here. Did you drive the previous Rogue? What do you think about the 2021 seat comfort? How does it feel compared to the previous gen? I was sold on the zero gravity seat technology. But to be honest, I think I'm kinda disappointed. The seat is not soft enough, the cushions are not thick enough, and it doesn't feel like there is memory foam in it. Only looks nice due to the leather. My 2020 Civic has softer seat cushions that feel like memory foam.
I have had the problem with the instrument panel going black on two occasions. One was after getting a jumpstart. Each time the Dealership tech did a reset. I had no idea that you shouldn’t keep the radio on after switching the car to OFF position; (the radio will continue to play until you open the driver’s door) right. But if you don’t open the door and want to sit in car with radio on it will play for a about 5-10 minutes then automatically cut off. If you do a short press on start button you can turn the radio back on. Didn’t know if you do that, the car battery will run down completely in about 20 mins and you will need a jump start!! Car won’t say nothing 😂! Then sometimes after getting a jumpstart it will mess with the instrument panel lights then back tot he dealership for a reset.😢 I have finally learn my lesson. When I wash my car, I have to listen to music on IPhone! By the way I did buy me a cute little Battery Jump Starter Booster Pack; every female driver needs one in their car.
Being a 2018 Rogue owner. The Air Con light is behaving like yours. So Nissan never sees it as an issue, I guess. The sync works on my 2018. As for the night time dash brightness, might be it has to do with the ambient sensor. Other than that, mechanically is reliable. It’s my second Rogue as I switched to it from a 2015 for the Pro Pilot. The older one worked just as well. The sun roof had more wind noise when you titled it up. That is no longer an issue on my 2018 model. I will probably go for my 3rd Rogue as my lease will be done in a few months. Prior, I had 4 Honda. I think Nissan is better between the 2 imho.
No, it was acting goofy just hours before when I showed the tech. Something definitely got changed lol. Does your 2018 have the three zones or just two?
Another guy said the manual contradicts the video, and the light only goes off when both other zones are off sync. So in your case it wouldn’t apply with just the two.
@@COGuyStuff to be honest...I had this same I guess problem with my 2012 Ford focus when I first bought it. I thought it was a normal thing lol when the passenger changed the temperature, it would change it but still said sync. Never bothered me.
I'm puzzled why you took a car with 593 miles on it back to the dealership. What got you to check the batteries voltage? I have a 21 Rogue SV Premium with 5300 miles on it. It's been flawless.
Yup I have had my 2022 rogue only 8 mos and it doesnt start! it has happened a few times, changed the fob etc all the lights radio and stuff work but it wont turn over!!! It is not even a year old!!!!!
The ac auto button in my Sentra does the same thing , you have to hit the ac button after manually turning the ac off. If the system turn off via master button alone , when auto is switched on the ac button will light
My car died overnight at 404 miles. Towed in. Dealer confirmed what you said. Nissan knows. They replaced my battery. I don't have tools or equipment to check or top off battery.
They probably performed an update on the programming of one of the onboard modules. Sometimes it will fix minor bugs, the tech may not have even realized that the issue was fixed, service advisors sometimes communicate poorly or inaccurately describe customer complaints to the technicians.
@@COGuyStuff that’s the best thing to do, I know some dealers don’t like that, but if you can talk directly to the one repairing it, then some things aren’t lost in translation. I used to write service and I learned real quick to get all the info I could or get chewed out by the tech and the customer both! Hahahahaha
actually the ac sync isn’t an issue mine does the same thing i have the platinum version and it says sync because the rear ac temp is still in sync with the driver temp
Glad you got the dash brightness fixed. The lights problems is just laziness in software programming. Software development people are the dumbest and laziest people.
I have three maps on carplay. They aren't nearly as good as the stock nav for the screens and integration. I get info on the HUD and both screens plus better prompts.
I just got 2021 Rouge Platinum and the issue is starting to pop up with seat memory buttons sometimes working but most of the time not working. Another issue is that the seat suppose to be moving back as soon as you turn off the car and open the driver's door, but it is not moving back in that sequence. Instead, it is moving back after I open a door and then turn off the car or not moving back at all. Nissan and electronics are not liking each other. Had Murano in the past and it was horrible with the Audio system constantly disconnecting one channel. I already regret purchasing Nissan. Never again.
Nissan warranty work is so bad! Also nissan always have ground issues! My first and last nissan was a 2015 Juke Nismo and only owned it for 3 years….. and it always had some weird electrical issues and weird starting! Luckily it never left me stranded but never felt safe driving it
Yeah , no I have a 2021 rogue platinum, it has been acting really weird, it was a cold winter where my job took me and for whatever reason the battery kept dying, mind u I hadn’t had the car but for a little over a year at this point. The. I had this squeaking noise on the drivers side of the car when I first got the car, took it back to the dealer 3 times, they said they fixed it and it just goes right back to the same way a couple days later! Now the car is back to going dead after sitting over night again, I have to keep a jumper box with me at all times! Like I got the car with no even 250 miles on it, this is crazy, they need to drop the price on this car, completely not worth the hassle with a new car, my next car will be a Honda I swear!
Haven’t had issues with this, but my Platinum AWD makes a weird “gurgling” noise like water having trouble going through pipes, during/after a rain storm. It is around the front sunroof area. Lasts for a good 20-30 mins after rain stops. Loud enough to hear over my radio at a normal level. Nissan dealer said I was only person to complain about it. I would have to bring it in during a rainstorm-afterwards so they can pinpoint it. It’s annoying.
Should have watched Scotty Kilmer and bought a Toyota. Bought a Nissan, so sad too bad. “We can’t replicate the problem” not tripping any codes. All within specs, burns 1 qrt oil every 1,000 miles that’s normal for those wngines

I have a 2021 Nissan Rogue and the AC light is on but does not blow air even when the air vents are open.
Is this battery issue for a hybrid
No
Do you recommend this vehicle?
Stick with Toyota / Honda if you want reliability. Nissan is not reliable.
@@thestig007 for me Toyota, Honda and Nissan are great brands, this vehicle seems to be a great vehicle, commonly the first year of a vehicle have some details, it doesn’t matter if it’s a Honda a Nissan a Toyota or Ford...
Other than these things, i LOVE it
This is a first year model, I expect it.
It's been reported by many people, so far just a new battery from the dealer solves it
@@COGuyStuff I will contact the Nissan service department this week and have them test the battery.
No I had no interest in previous years
If I use the remote start, the vehicle's battery does not charge. 2021 rogue sv.
Then see your dealer.
What if my screen is completely black no sign of life what would be the cause and how to fix
Hold down the power button (left knob) until it resets. About 10 seconds. If that doesn’t work you’ll need the dealer.
I’m sorry I think you misunderstood be it’s the instrument panel that is out
Oh! 100% the dealer then.
@@COGuyStuff My 2 Rogues only have dual zones
Others have had bad new batteries reporting low voltage, lack of charge and error messages. I checked and found it before mine was that bad.
That’s the point. It doesn’t light in auto
Great video. How do you like the rogue compared to your wife’s new suv? What exterior color did you get? Should do a video review of the Rogue -
I don’t like that the gas cap doesn’t lock.
I do. Faster and no cap to wear out later. Plus a seal when filling
My car died overnight at 404 miles. Towed in. Dealer confirmed what you said. Nissan knows. They replaced my battery. I don't have tools or equipment to check or top off battery.
But you vehicle is working fine now?
How many miles since?
What’s the sticker price on this car?
Depends on what you get for options. Tops around 40
@@COGuyStuff wow, they should have many of the problems like this addressed for that kind of money
For the cost of any car these days lol
They probably performed an update on the programming of one of the onboard modules. Sometimes it will fix minor bugs, the tech may not have even realized that the issue was fixed, service advisors sometimes communicate poorly or inaccurately describe customer complaints to the technicians.
I talked with the tech and showed him the things directly.
@@COGuyStuff that’s the best thing to do, I know some dealers don’t like that, but if you can talk directly to the one repairing it, then some things aren’t lost in translation. I used to write service and I learned real quick to get all the info I could or get chewed out by the tech and the customer both! Hahahahaha
@@COGuyStuff on a totally unrelated topic, I know you do some awesome grilling, what kind of grille do you recommend?
My dealer puts you right in touch, it's standard. I have the techs number and he will follow my car in the future. I'm loving my Pitboss :)
I have the same problems. Thank you for sharing
Had the same problem. Nissan swapped the battery. We shall see what happens next.
Thank you very much for posting this. Very helpful!! Keep us updated!!
actually the ac sync isn’t an issue mine does the same thing i have the platinum version and it says sync because the rear ac temp is still in sync with the driver temp
Glad you got the dash brightness fixed. The lights problems is just laziness in software programming. Software development people are the dumbest and laziest people.
The sync button will still show sync of two or more are the same .
Yes, I said that in the description
that is why you use apple car play for navigation, apps always up to date on your phone
I have three maps on carplay. They aren't nearly as good as the stock nav for the screens and integration. I get info on the HUD and both screens plus better prompts.
If you get a microsoft teams call over carplay, Carplay disconnects
Luckily it never left me stranded but never felt safe driving it
My 2011 Toyota has the same problem with the AC button.
The sync thing kinda makes sense, because the reas is still synced, and this is the only button for sync...
Clean the drain lines
My navigation system is the same.
That’s why I don’t go crazy about the early batch of the new generation. I buy the mid or refreshed or last batch.
You should wait for the the Tucson 😀
I’m sure that the new Tucson is going to have some troubles.
@@rafaelg9016 why?
@@junye1833 because every new vehicle presents some problems
Ever since Renault got involved with Nissan their cars are crap. Should've went with a Honda or Toyota Brian.
Nah, didn't like um as much Robie
Thank You
Thanks for posting this…
Nissan is pretty awful. I had problems with an Altima but managed to unload it for a Toyota Tacoma. Never buying Nissan again.
Every single brand/model will have people that say the exact same thing about it LOL
I could have bought a Toyota and other people would comment about what’s better than Toyota.
Nissan is not what it used to be after Carlos Ghosn.
Ghosn ruined Nissan.... smh.. do research
Nissan Response: user error 🤦🏾♂️
By the way it’s a brand new product the bugs will be worked out like every other manufacturer
Should have watched Scotty Kilmer and bought a Toyota. Bought a Nissan, so sad too bad. “We can’t replicate the problem” not tripping any codes. All within specs, burns 1 qrt oil every 1,000 miles that’s normal for those wngines
Lol you guys and your assumptions and blanket statements
I watch Scotty too. I'm in the market right now and I'm so glad that I did not purchase this car.😗😗😗😗
Easy fix, Toyota
Yuck. I considered the RAV4 though...didn't do it for me.
The Rogue is better than RAV4 and also when this generation of RAV4 was released it used to have some little problems.
Search for Toyota RAV 4 battery issues. So many people with dead batteries just sitting in their garage. No thanks!!
I was thinking about the Rav-4 but they act like youreasing a Lexus. Prices are so high it's ridiculous. $550 for a XSE ? No thanks
