    You say in your review that you can’t see the point of this car...
    Then at the end of the review mention that no other manufacturer offers an SUV with
    The blistering performance and equipment of this car for anywhere near the price, except a Porsche Mecan which is 16k more.
    Surely that is the point...

    • @astrogaming3083

      What he means is this is supposed to be a brand for enthusiasts, people who want a car to have character, to have a personality of its own, to be a bit “unhinged”, a bit crazy,
      Firstly if you’re gonna launch a brand for enthusiasts don’t launch it with an SUV, the vast majority of enthusiasts hate them
      Secondly if you’re gonna make a new brand, launch it with a brand new car, or at least make the car so different from its “normal version” that it qualifies as a brand new car
      This is just an ateca with more power
      The perfect example of they should have done is the hyundai i30 N, it’s a hyundai and yet it’s different from it’s normal version, it has huge alloys and rock hard suspension that will break your spine, it has a shift indicator, is has proper seats, it has a strut bar in the boot, it has one of the loudest exhausts fitted to a car this size, it is brilliant, unhinged, exciting, utterly uncompromised, and the results are obvious: it’s selling so fast that production can’t keep up.
      That’s what people wanted from the Cupra brand and it’s just not what this is

    • @ytprodata
      @ytprodata 5 лет назад +3

      @@@astrogaming3083 You're not addressing Peter Lumsden's point, which is that the Cupra Ateca is a unique offering in the market (for now at least) giving real performance in a compact SUV package. It may not be what you want, but I'm guessing that thousands of owners _do_ want this combination of features.
      Overall, it's a very patchy review. Why spend the first 20% of a relatively short review going on about branding and the badge - it's just irrelevant to most buyers? And all that stuff about wanting a super-loud exhaust - most of us left that sort of nonsense behind at school. But for all my gripes, the comment about the interior not being special enough is right to the point and a potential deal-breaker I suspect. Not even electric seats on offer apparently.

    • @astrogaming3083
      @astrogaming3083 5 лет назад +2

      John Dann buy a normal Ateca then, other than the power this has nothing going for it. As for the fact that most of you left the loud exhaust behind at school, stop being so high and mighty, if you want a quiet car, go buy the normal Ateca. People like to have a car that pops and bangs, why do you think hot hatches and mustangs sell really well.
      This is unique in that it’s an SUV with a lot of power and that’s it there’s nothing else there,buy a leon cupra, it will have more power, be more economical, better to drive, cheaper and better equipped
      I just don’t understand the appeal of SUVs, to me they’re pointless, they’re useless off road, and they’re not that good on the road, especially these performance versions
      In regards to the the branding, it’s important, people care about the brand, why do you think VW still sells so many cars. If you’re gonna launch a new brand do it with a good product not average one, especially if it is a brand for enthusiasts. The interior and things like not putting a proper badge on the rear just filling in the square just shows how little effort they put into it.
      Where i live, this thing costs 42000, for that i could get myself an i30 n and 8000 euros worth of petrol. And if you take this thing on a track it will get completely recked by all of the hot hatches around it.
      Come to think of it, i could get a mustang for that money, with a buying roaring V8
      This car is pointless, it’s useless, and unlike the macan and the sq5, which sell because of their badges, it’s going to fail

    32 mph is bad ? 🙄 And just slap another exhaust on the car solved 😋

    That logo is extremely cringy. Driving down the road in a half decent looking SUV like that and you then spot the badge! Oh man it's just so bad. It's like some cheap gaming brand that makes keyboards and headsets. It's dreadful.

    It's definitely not worth the money, we seen one on the weekend and the plastics around the console area are shocking....rock hard plastic.....dare I say that the Dacia duster has a better plastics....🤔

      I don't expect hard scratchy plastics on a £37,000 car...

    This is supposed to be an enthusiast’s brand right?
    Tell me do enthusiasts like SUV’s ? I don’t think the majority do.
    Why would you launch a new sport brand with an SUV, why not launch it with a Leon, a much more sporty car
    Just buy a Leon Cupra300, it’s much better, and you can have it with a manual

      The DSG outperforms the manual..... with 1 sec 0-100 and much better elasticity too, its a lot faster with DSG.

    its so boring that all the Audi Subbrands are just cheaper versions of audis

    Why on earth do they pick a SUV to launch a sports brand? That in itself is a poor choice. And then of course there's the disappointing final delivery with nothing exciting. It's supposed to be thrilling. I've always been a bit of a SEAT Cupra fan, owning a LCR mk1 myself. But this Ateca is just not made in the spirit of what Cupra has always meant.
