Grant (Daddy G) and his mum used to come and buy fish from a stall that I worked on in Bristol Market around 2002-3. I had no idea who he was, even though I had all of Massive Attacks albums and loved them. He was always really friendly and obviously a popular guy around the neighbourhood. Anyway, longer story shorter, I eventually cottoned on and then one time he slipped me a CD which was a promo press release only copy of 100th Window and said 'keep this for yourself only... don't give it to anyone', gave me a wink and walked off. It was officially released to the world a few weeks later.

Massive Attack was absolutely life changing for me. When I heard “Mezzanine”… it blew my mind open. The music bits own was totally singular and innovative… but having the ear to recognize Horace’s unique gift … and showcase it , was brilliance. It created something completely new.
Still probably the most groundbreaking band of the last 40 years.

The Bristol Sound made me move to Bristol from Cambridge. Ten of the happiest years of my life. Lived in Easton BS5 when the tabloids labelled Stapleton Rd “the most dangerous street in the UK”. Absolute rubbish, it was lovely and chilled! I live in Wilts now, up the M4, but my dentist is still in Henleaze as it gives me an excuse to return and reminisce lol. Love you Bristol, always will!

Musician. Dr Andy Keep (Bath Spa Uni) took me to the dugout. I then invited my college mates Marc Picken and Andy Phipps. Mark became MA’s manager,(and my daughters godfather),Andy became Banksy’s assistant. This all happened! Live the life, the life you love.

One of my all time favorite groups with Mezzanine being an ESSENTIAL album for me - I had heard about the "Bristol sound", but had no idea these guys went that far back! This is early-mid 80s. That's the same timeline as Run DMC and Beastie Boys!

I remember when they came out, around the time of the 1st Gulf War they dropped the word "Attack" and were only known as "Massive". Also, Shara Nelson should have been a superstar. Heard she is not so well healthwise.

BBC Documentaries rarely have much information in them, for some reason. Oh well, Blue Lines is a bit overrated anyway. It's good, but overrated. Half of it is just samples that already got used by EPMD and people like that.

Good band but have got way too political in their older years. To the point of ramming it down your throats on giant screens at their shows.
