They weren't able to draw when they wanted because they didn't have enough moves, 30 minimum, IIRC. They drew at move 31. Since they are not writing their moves in a rapid game, they probably didn't realize it. BTW, the position at move 15. ... Qc8 is unique, at least in my database. This is the only game I could find. Explains why Anand spent so much time thinking on it. He really wanted to post a Knight on d5, but c2 would be hanging. Pretty amazing the high level of positional and tactical understanding these guys have. Way beyond me!!!
