- WNBA Is EXPANDING.. Here's What We Know
Welcome back to Sports Magnet, today on this channel we are going to talk about “ WNBA expansion plans narrowed to 10 cities with goal to announce by end of the year + San Antonio Spurs hiring former WNBA star Candice Dupree as assistant” The WNBA is going to expand. Exactly when and where those new franchises will be is getting closer to being a reality. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said Sunday, before the Las Vegas Aces took a 1-0 series lead in the WNBA Finals, the league has narrowed its focus to “about 10” cities that could host an expansion team.
Engelbert announced the league would hold its first-ever preseason game in Canada next season after previously having discussions before the COVID-19 pandemic and coming off the most recent collective bargaining agreement in early 2020. The WNBA last played internationally in 2011 when the Atlanta Dream played a preseason game in Manchester, England. The league also hosted a preseason game in Monterrey, Mexico (2004). Philly definitely needs a team, it needs to be one of the two.
Toronto, Houston, Philly and The Bay all need teams
I would like to see Houston again. I never made it to a Comets game as they launched when I was in college and they folded before I had gotten established enough post college to go to a game.
We need a team in Philly!
Being real. I forgot about Toronto, Canada yes the fans loves basketball there very exciting city yes 5 .
Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, New Jersey or 2nd New York team, Baltimore or Annapolis, Cincinnati or Cleveland, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Saint Louis, Anaheim, San Diego, San Francisco or San Jose and Oakland, Sacramento, San Antonio or Houston, Nashville or Memphis, Charlotte or Raleigh, Tampa Bay or Orlando, Miami, and Jacksonville
toronto and Houston
Bring back some old teams HOUSTON COMETS, SACRAMENTO MONARCHS, PORTLAND FIRE, UTAH STARZ, EAST BAY SEALS AND IOWA WILD ROSES...CHARLOTTE STING, CLEVELAND ROCKERS, DETROIT SHOCK, MIAMI VIBE, PHILADELPHIA BELLS AND TORONTO HUSKIES. To start and keep it growing.
WNBA costs NBA owners $10 million a year now. How much will two more teams cost? Who is willing to pay it?
WNBA loses over 10 mil a season, NBA makes 9 billion a year….let that discrepancy sink in
And they'll probably expect the NBA to continue subsidizing their losses.
The Bay(San Francisco)would definitely be good city to have a team.Philly would be a great city to have a team.
Being real. Other cities need to get involved in Basketball 1 is Philadelphia needs a WNBA team 2 San Francisco yes . 3 Nashville, TN. 4 Portland to a WNBA team as well. That's my opinion.
NBA TEAMS SHOULD SPONSOR WNBA TEAMS.
How about El Paso Texas? Why because of the especially high volume of illegal human traffic there, should be no problem for INS to get them tickets to the games. Form a team of trans people and they can dunk all day long and draft Caitlyn Clark for long distance shooting, should be a sold out every home games. LBGTQ community be happy and be rivals to Las Vegas Aces for the league championship
What'd El Paso do to you bro? 😂
expansion means even more turnovers, more- wide open (missed) layups, more embarrassing crime page exposes. and back-alley brawls. can't wait!
u don’t even watch the wnba lol
@@leslieknope3942 you're wrong about that. i happen to be a big fan women's sports. but the politics of the WNBA have me hanging by a thread. the same atrocity that
Billy Jean King brought to tennis in the form
of a 44-year-old male transexual is going to happen in the WNBA. count it!
He should have started the video off with "Good News to the 500 WNBA fans,.......
