The way Kiera hasn't watched it for 20 years and I've been rewatching the movie 12 times a year for 20 years💀
Little less 😅 then 20 years but same here. It feels like a must, to watch it every month
Real... me too 😊
she doesn't like watching herself
This movie makes me incandescently happy
Thank goodness it came back to the big screen for its 20th birthday 😭
Do they realise how manyyyyyy of us watch this film constantly every year?
Every fall, baby
Every time I can't sleep
When the film ends I feel like I could watch it againnnnnn😭
I think yes!! When they joked about watching it over and over and being a true fan, I think they know it's a constant rewatch for folks!
Seriously!!! It’s a must. ❤
I miss how warm this film feels. The Bennett sisters cast really were stacked with talents
u had me at stacked
Definitely!!! So stacked
Like geez, Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Carey Mulligan
That's like putting Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp in a movie together. They are THAT huge
Except the ex wife of Musk. She was terrible
@mikiim5739Not really, she portrayed well the character
It's so upsetting to me that she was ridiculed as a terrible actress in the Pirates franchise. As a kid, and still to this day, I thought she was the backbone of the original trilogy and I thought she was a badass and an amazing actor.
Same.
Ditto.
Absolute backbone!!
I'm shocked to find that out today 😂 She's always been an A-list actress in my books. Those critics must have felt some type of way when she got nominated for an oscar just 1-2 years later haha
@@gianellab.4953 You think critics have shame? Or a working memory that reaches that far back?
Your opinion of film critics is much higher than mine...
Rosamund Pike oozes a timeless beauty that never goes out of style.
She’s a Grace Kelly.
She combines her looks with the pinnacle of sophistication, which elevates her beauty.
But there's too much Botox at play now 🙈
@@suzanneoleander3224Nope. It’s DIOR CAPTURE anti-aging skin care routine.
Yes! I'm always amazed by her quiet beauty, it's almost cold. Weirdly, I feel like I come across this type of beauty with blonde women only (Catherine Deneuve, someone said here Grace Kelly and that's spot on)... Anyway.
Rosamund Pike does the narration for the 'Pride and Prejudice' audiobook. She does all the voices perfectly.
Where can one find it?
I heard it and thought she was almost brilliant. I do feel her Mr Darcy was a bit off... I needed her to sound more "pinning"
She does audiobook for 'The Wheel of Time' novel as well. Her voice is so ethereal.
@alicecarol.audible 😊
@alicecarol.It’s on Audible
Rosamund is basically a princess. She looks like one, speaks like one and commands the room like one!
I love her vibe.... super posh and intelligent but also laid back, fun and funny. I actually wish she could be in more stuff :)
@@emmad.176absolutely! She's a wordsmith. So precise every time.
Very Grace Kelly vibes
So beautiful, so classy.
She does comedy too. What We Did on Our Holiday is hilarious.
It really does feel like they're similar to their characters. Kiera is so energetic and passionate when she talks, and Rosamund is like an older sister, a bit more reserved, and perhaps a tad more steady.
Ros feels a lot like a slightly younger Cate Blanchet😊
I wish Carey Mulligan was here, she would've been exactly like Kitty during this interview
I thought they were perfect!
Rosamund just had this ethereal beauty to her. Keira is gorgeous but in a different way. I find in the BBC production, which is great!, Elizabeth Bennet is too pretty!
I enjoyed this movie and have watched it a number of times, however, Keira speaks WAY too fast - especially in 'that' scene where they both speak in a robotic, staccato way which is very distracting.
I’ve seen Carey Mulligan being interviewed multiple times, she’s reserved and elegant like Rosamund. She might loosen up a bit with Keira and Rosamund in the VF space but she’s nothing like Kitty.
This is so sweet how they remember the same things differently and they both admire each other
Keira, Rosamund and Carey became very close during and after the film according to Ros. Carey even lived with Ros when in America. And the 3 of them hung out constantly.
Have Keira and Rosamund worked together since Pride and Prejudice?
@@RavenIdril2966No. But Ros and Carey have.
@@RoSen344I recall that Pike and Carey were roommates for a while because both were auditioning for An Education and filmed the movie there
Keira, Pike, and Carey Mulligan are very much so close friends. Pike and Carey did three films together (they both were roommates when both were auditioning for An Education), Keira and Pike were neighbors in London at one point, Keira and Carey did Never Let Me Go (Carey said that she asked Keira to be in the movie because she is her friend and a much more experienced actress at the time just to help her out)
"I can't believe, they're daring to do another one"
Exactly, what I thought!
What????
It's probably aimed at Gen Z. I'm expecting race swapping and edgy, ironic humor.
Oof. There's gonna be some interesting reactions to a remake. 😅
Thats what we all thought 😢
SAME! There are just movies that CANNOT have a remake cause it's a MASTER CLASS!
This version of Pride and Prejudice will forever be my number one comfort movie. Nothing can replace it
Same, the cinematography, the music 😌
Same ♥️it’s so intricate
Loved P&P but also love new version of Persuasion with Dakota Johnson !!
I made virtually the same comment before I found this one.
There's a Mormon one we called it the "Pink" pride and prejudice. It's kinda funny.
It's Mormon but you would not know unless you're Mormon. There's really no references to the religion.
Pride and Prejudice is my go-to movie.
Sad? P&P
Bored? P&P
Wistfully in love: P&P
Thank you for the interview! I loved seeing them together again.
I love the soundtrack ❤
Girl YES.
Oh, that soundtrack is divine @@daisyr.bontrager9556
@@daisyr.bontrager9556I had one of the songs in the background when I got married 🥰 I love the soundtrack, too!
✋Same
my gawd these women are so elegant and laid back lol
it always boggles me that keira knightly was so incredibly prolific and talented at such a young age. i dont think she ever played a child even when she was one
You don't count Bend It Like Beckham?
@@milesgould8288 her character was most likely 18 like the main character, considering they both leave in the end for the US.
@@milesgould8288 it was a semi-pro team so i dont think they could be minors and jess is 18
Yeah...even playing Queen Amidala's double. She was so young then.
I think the closest to playing a child was Princess of Thieves.
My Mom passed away 10 years ago and this was her favorite movie. My sister and I loved watching it with her and dancing together during the ball scenes. She would cry during the scene where Elizabeth is standing on the edge of the cliff while the piano plays. "She looks so free," she would say when we asked why. I hope somewhere my Mom is on her own cliff, feeling just as free.
❤❤❤❤
🥹🤍🤍 so sorry for your loss, but what a beautiful memory of her this is.
🤍🕊️
Such a tribute to your lovely Mum.
That last sentence... you made me cry. I'm sure she is!
A perfect film in every respect. I still think Keira should have won the Oscar for Best Actress that year. No one remembers who won it that year, but this film is still beloved,.
I bet Reese Witherspoon remembers.
i always say Keira should have won 10 oscars for it after I'm done the movie, even though it doesn't makes sense that's how moved i always am
She won the Oscar of our hearts 💕
The Oscar is a rigged game anyway and pointless. The movie is a beloved classic, which is the real measure of success I'd think.
@@fibanocci314100% rigged. Awards are meaningless. Only what the public thinks matters, and sometimes, that changes over time. However, I love Pride and Prejudice as much now as I ever did.
I know people always says that the 1995 adaptation was the best one with perfect casting, and while I do agree, I must say that Rosamund Pike done the best potrayal of Jane Bennet. Her Jane is simply beautiful, angelic, pure and kind with a touch of shyness. Such a great actress
Exactly this. She embodied Jane perfectly
I know everyone swoons over Mr Darcy and Elizabeth in that film, but I think the Jane and Mr. Bingley plotline is just so sublime and sweet and those actors are perfectly casted ❤
Who'd have thought she had Amy Dunne in her
I remember thinking that Rosamund was probably the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen. Loved Kiera and her performance. Cried when Donald was such a wonderful father to all. Fell in love with matthew. Seriously, every single performance was spectacular. The movie was perfect.
The dawn scene in Pride & Prejudice is by far my favorite scene in any movie. It's so beautiful, and so emotional; it makes me tear up every time.
It's so wonderfully dramatic and romantic.
If you haven’t listened to Rosamund Pike narrate P&P on audible, do yourself a favor and go listen. Probably the best narrator I’ve ever heard. She nails every character!
I totally agree, she and Juliet Stevenson.
Oh, she is perfect!
I feel the same about The Wheel of Time narration. She has an excellent narration voice.
I don't think we talk enough about how similar Keira Knightley and Rosamund Pike’s voices are, it’s such a subtle but perfect detail that adds to their casting as sisters. Their voices aren’t exactly the same, but they complement each other beautifully: Keira’s sharper, more expressive tone reflects Elizabeth's wit and fire, while Pike's calm, elegant voice captures Jane’s grace and warmth. It’s those little things that make their sisterly bond feel so authentic on screen. Truly one of the best casting decisions ever.
Edit : I should also note that even Carey Mulligan has a perfect combination of Keira's sharp expressive tone and Pike's calm and elegant voice. The casting is so perfect that I actually bought them as sisters had I didn't know who they are
This is such a sweet and apt analysis. ❤
I always think they have similar facial features too especially their noses. If i didn't know any better i would've thought they were actual sisters
@@Dhidur18Even Carey Mulligan has a perfect combination of Keira's sharp expressive tone and Pike's calm and elegant voice. The casting is so perfect that I actually bought them as sisters had I didn't know who they are
Lovely. I think their cheekbones and mouths/teeth (sounds weird, but still) are similar.
The Bennet sisters were cast with such incredible talent, it’s amazing to realize that some of them would go on to become some of the biggest actresses working today.
This movie means so much to an entire generation.
Keira fangirling over Rosamund’s incredible performance in 'I Care a Lot' is so relatable, I've never loved and hated a character so much. Rosamund rlly deserved that Golden Globes award!
Agreed! 👍
I'm 24 and only recently learnt how YOUNG Keira was doing this, along with many other films. I'm in awe, she's cinematic history
They have aged like fine wine. So beautiful.
Rosamund is SO majestic in person! Such a strong presence! Met her on set in Prague, and she just floored me with one glance (mind you, I am 190cm lady, so def not easily intimidated, but her singular posture does that)
Aw 🤩 thanks for sharing! So jealous you have met her 😍
20 years
Wow…time flies so fast. Those two women are still gorgeous
I was 14 when Pride & Prejudice came out and I’m 34 now. I have been rewatching this movie many times a year for these past 20 years. It is my number 2 all time favorite movie. Gosh it’s such a magical film.
Ok, now I need to know #1!😊
Yes what is number one??
@@daisyr.bontrager9556All three Lord of the Rings movies hold the #1 spot for me in a three way haha
@@SandKeats All three Lord of the Rings movies hold the #1 spot for me in a three way haha
I'm almost the exact same! 36 now and remember watching this in the cinema when I was in secondary school and not expecting much (because I absolutely ADORED the BBC series since I was a kid) but ended up loving it. I bought it on DVD some years later and then I couldn't stop watching it and it soon became one of my favourite films. I honestly had no idea so many people loved it as much as I do and also find it to be such a great comfort watch.
Pride and Prejudice was one of my mom's favorite movies. I remember this one summer, she had the movie on repeat probably 500 times, and somewhere along the line, I started to slowly grow interested in the movie that I eventually sat down to watch it with her in the living room for the last 200. It grew so much on me that I learned almost the entire dialogue of the movie, and she would chuckle whenever I repeated some of them.
She passed away in 2018, and that summer watching Pride and Prejudice over and over again will forever be one of my most cherished memories with her.
Fun Fact: Among all the actresses that played the Bennet sisters, Keira, Pike, and Carey Mulligan have remained especially close. Keira and Carey went on to do Never Let Me Go together. Carey and Pike have done three films together, makes it better that they were even roommates when they auditioned for and filmed An Education. Keira and Pike were neighbors in London for quite a while and as she said in this video that she reached out to Pike after seeing I Care A Lot which is very sweet. Love when a film leads to real, lasting friendships. These three's chemistry off screen is what a Bennet sister would do in real life ❤
I think they made the best version of Pride and Prejudice. They were all perfectly cast and were amazing actors. It was just brilliant!
why does this feel so genuine? so often compliments are fake, this is not that!
I’m so glad Keira mentioned Joe Wright because Atonement is one of my favourite films ❤
Another great one with her in it❣️
He and Rosamund were engaged but he dumped her. I guess it's been long enough that it's not awkward.
@@agoodwin3174 Yes! I remember when the two of them were dating.
Is the movie Atonement better than the book?
Loved it
Hollywood should take note: audiences love loyalist takes that are clean and as pure to the novel as possible.
You can really tell that they both like and respected each other.
It’s just such a relief to see that the Bennet sisters are still great friends after all these years. Just two years ago, we had Carey Mulligan and Rosamund Pike together in Saltburn, and now it’s Keira Knightley and Pike reuniting! I’d love to see the whole cast come together again for the 20th anniversary, it would be such a dream ❤
Wow, I’ve been in love with Keira since back then. It’s incredible how 20 years have already passed. She’s aged, and so have I-both of us exactly the same age. And it’s interesting how she admired the confidence and wisdom that Rosamund showed on the set of Pride and Prejudice because nowadays, she embodies exactly that. A person who knows how to express herself beautifully and has a big heart.
I love both of them. Smile lines and wrinkles no veneers. Real beauties 🤩
I do too :) They were beautiful and fresh faced in pride and prejudice, and now beautiful in a mature, elegant way :)
I love that they are natural. Just beautiful
@@emmad.176 this whole idea that beautiful women become un beautiful due to age is bonkers. look at Kate Winslet too: absolutely gorgeous at any age.
This is a gem of an interview
It’s 2 a.m. I was about to go to bed when I saw this video. I’ve never clicked on anything so fast in my life. Shared the video with my besties, and now I’m watching this amazing reunion, and I’m so happy 🥹
best version EVER. nothing will ever beat it. my best friend and I watched it in cinema and it was magical. I remember every second of that day. and I watch this movie every year. it's so amazing. seeing these two together again, very emotional.
Rosamund's narration of the Wheel of time books are phenomenal and I cannot stand that the show was canceled. I hope she will continue to do the rest of the books!
Is it really?!?! I didn’t know!
Truly? I am devastated by this news.
I'm SO SAD about the show being canceled! Even though the writing wasn't on par with the books, all the actors are fantastic and it was such a magical show that I enjoyed watching. I hope she continues narrating the rest of the WoT books.
My favorite scene is the Lake District scene of the camera panning around her as she stood on the cliff. The score was also the best in that scene.
Not the Lake District. Stanage Edge. Peak District. Derbyshire.
The music for this film is sublime!
I love the shot of her eating an apple under a huge tree in the woods. It takes my breath away.
My two absolute favorites reunited. It's been such a pleasure following both their careers through the past couple decades and to see how much they've both grown and all their respective successes. This entire cast was an absolute dream.
How beautiful are these women without any plastic surgery whatsoever! So refreshing… ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Real Flesh, not plastic, thank you
What a wonderful conversation to listen in on. I love hearing women lifting one another up and encouraging one another, celebrating each other’s strengths.
WHAT DO YOU MEEEANNN 20 YEARS AGO??!?!! it's crazy
Love love love this movie! Happy to see them together in this video
My thoughts exactly!!!!
I love that British actresses prefer to maintain their natural beauty
My biggest thanks to whoever set this up. I've watched the film so many times I can-and have-played it in the background and said lines along with characters like singing along to my favorite song perfectly in time. I'm so grateful to Joe Wright and the entire cast and crew for making a film that feels familiar and timeless yet fresh with every rewatch.
I've been bitter for a Pride and Prejudice reunion for so long. I mean, it's nice to see Carey Mulligan and Pike made three films together but Keira and Pike? The closest we could've gotten was during the 2014/2015 award season where Keira was nominated for The Imitation Game and Pike was nominated for Gone Girl and yet these two didn't interact or we didn't get a photo of them together. How relief to see them finally in the same frame again
Do they have any idea how much this movie made an impact ever since it came out. I personally have watched it for about 20 times, everything about this version of pride and prejudice is gorgeously cinematic. PLEASE they should know this.
This movie’s impact is as unforgettable as the luxury homes I feature-cinematic, breathtaking, and timeless. If you love stunning visuals and elegant design, head over to my page for the most gorgeous luxury house tours you won’t want to miss!
Two of my favourite actresses talking about starring in one of my favourite films.
This is heaven.
Love that movie, it's one of those movies that everything seems to come together and create some strange magic - the direction the casting the cinematography the lighting the design the music and the incredible chemistry between Knightley and Macfadyen all just perfect.
I've been in love with Rosamund Pike for 20 years now! I was captivated by her in this role. Everyone was always talking about Keira, but all I could see was Rosamund.
It is so nice to just see two actresses who seem so grounded and real still after all these years. Makes me feel like it’s acceptable for me to turn 40 next year.
Pike is such an amazing fearless actor. I love how brave she is in her choices.
This interview was everything I wanted it to be and more as a devoted, lifelong fan of this adaptation. Thank you, Vanity Fair, for making it happen!!
Keira and Rosamund?!!! They did this for me 😍😍
Rosamund Pike is an amazing actress! Her performance in “ I Care a Lot” it’s fenomenal! And “Gone Girl” too! She deserve more recognition 👏
This is the best historical romance movie ever. Period.
And best ending (the original UK version)! The father/daughter moment was so powerful! ❤
How are they both even more beautiful than ever? This felt like a warm hug.
Rosamund Pike is just sublime!
reunited 🥹 their wit & power in one room like yess queens
Rosamund Puke is such a brilliant natural interviewer!! The questions she asks Kiera are so intelligent and interesting..
This was so wholesome. I watched their entire conversation with a big smile on my face. It felt like I was listening to my older sister and cousin tell me about an exciting experience they had, and even though I wasn’t part of it, I’m just so happy to listen to their stories.
Wow they both look as gorgeous as ever
Ah Keira my favourite actress of all time, and Rosamund is so easy to adore! 🥰 ❤ It's unhealthy how many times I've watched this film and read the book! Both should already have Oscars by now! Keira for Pride & Prejudice & Colette and Rosamund for Gone Girl!
I used it for my going to sleep movie for a long time. I love the piano music in the background. I've probably watched it over 100 times, at least.
20 years - still my favourite rendition of P&P thank you so much for doing this!
Rosamund has a beautiful voice!
"Sophisticated and gorgeous." 😍😍😍
I just recently watched Pride & Prejudice again - it is such a beautiful film. And that scene with Darcy coming across the field still grabs hold of my heart! ♥️♥️♥️ Absolute adore Rosamund Pike too. 🤩🤩🤩
These two have been on my favorite actress list for decades now! Love this reunion!
This movie is my comfort movie of all time. I'm sad, I watch it... I'm happy, I'll play it again... I feel nostalgic... you got it. I can't make my mind on somebody making another one cause it will never feel the same as this one.
Rosamund is amazing in asking questions! Great chat
The entire length of the video, every time one of them was mentionning one of their works, I was just thinking "Yes! and you were brilliant in it!" Amazing actresses both of them!
Rosamund just carries that elegance and gravity into Wheel of Time and her character just draws you in and holds you in the moments of her scenes so beautifully.
Rosamund's permanent blush when Keira whistles praises and compliments her way
Pride and prejudice is absolutely my go-to movie. It feels so cozy to watch it. Loved this video 😍
What a privilege to watch these two interview each other. Not knighted Dames as yet, but I do hope they both are. I felt like this was watching Maggie and Judi chat… 🫶
I fall asleep to this movie when I’m anxious. It calms me. and I listen to the soundtrack nearly every day.
CLICKED IMMEDIATELY
😊 AND messaged my daughter about it!❤

I've always have a massive crush on Roamund Pike and in this interview its evident why. She has more compliments to offer, more incisive questions and observations. Kiera is speaking more but in her silence Rosamund completely commands the room. What a queen
Thank you for this, @VanityFair! I clicked play on this so quickly, two wonderfully talented truly classy women, a pure joy!
Yes, thank you VR for reuniting these queens!
I love this interview. I think these are genuine people, Rosamund and Keira. I'm really impressed. Also! Wheel of Time must go on! Rosamund has become one of my FAVORITE actors through that series.
I was waiting for them to mention Joe Wright. He was so young and he did an amazing job on P&P. All those one shot scenes - incredible.
He’s also Rosamund Pike’s ex-fiance tho (he broke off their engagement!), which is probably a sore spot!
There will never be another performance like this movie! Their performances were spot on! Even if you hadn’t read the book you instinctively knew they nailed the role! Love how these two converse with each other! Very respectful and full of intellect 😊
What a fabulous reunion. It felt warm and genuine as they reminisced
I don't know any other versions of P&P that with their casting choices absolutely nailed the "Jane is the beauty of the county" aspect while allowing Elizabeth to be beautiful in a completely different way.
Rosamund Pike was amazing reading Pride and Prejudice for the Audible book. Highly recommend the listen!
I rewatch that film with my friends every year.
I also reread the book yearly and will sometimes listen to Rosamund’s voice performance of it too. She nailed Mrs Bennett’s character.
MY SHOW IS ON
Never clicked faster.
I love both of their voices
I fell in love with these two 20 years ago. Seeing them together again is a total dream come true. I do wish Carey had joined but Carey had only 6 lines in P&P, and she was only a baby then lol. Just 17 years.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve watched the movie. One of my all time faves. And these ladies are both amazing and talented actors.
Not only is Rosamund beautiful, but she has the most pleasant voice. How amazing it would be to sit down and have a conversation with her like this. I did not know that she narrated the Wheel of Time books, but I know now what to spend my Audible credits on.
This film is one of my go-to cozy comfort films. Love this reunion. Whittle love if all the sisters got together to chat too!
Oh the amount of elegance in this one frame
I could listen to these two lovely ladies for hours. This film made me fall in love with the classics!
I remember going to see it with my Mum. We both came out of the cinema thinking that it was the most beautiful film we had ever seen, fond memory :)
