My father left his 1.4 million dollar estate after his death and settlement of mesothelioma, to my 2 sons. We took care of him, including my then teenage sons who are now adults. We learned to drain lungs, give him a bath, hygiene, we drove him to chemo, radiation, we feed him healthy food and paid for prescriptions. If Barbara was happy for the will to be divided between the four, with the youngest getting more, why should it be a problem to her if two more were added and the money evenly split, giving her more than the previous will? Seems odd
Second story: The college daughter can go to community college to save money or look for multiple scholarships or possibly a loan. I went to community college first to not have to take out a loan. Scholarships are easier to search for an apply to now online. The internet was just getting big when I was about to go to college. My high school counselor was no help. I also hope their daughter has a part-time job so she can help at least take care of herself. I worked part-time (almost full-time) and so did my boyfriend (now husband) while we were dating and he went to a top 10 college. We both took a full load of courses each quarter/semester.
"Money is the most replaceable commonity you'll ever have". Yes exactly. And a log cabin your father build with his own two hands is priceless. They where left the house (not money) that his father build with his own two hands. His father wanted to give this house to his son and his family and probably hoped it would be passed on for generations to come. Which is beautiful. The wife however wanted to sell the house. HIS (her husband) fathers house. And emotionally blackmailed the husband into doing that. That is what this is about and why he, the husband, resent his wife. I would resent my spouse too if he did that to me.
The question on this do they even really know what the deceased really want? Can they prove they knew what they want? This is something that is not worth arguing about because their deceased loved wouldn’t want this. What their loved would want is for them to work it or come to a neutral ground where there is no fighting over it.
I would be so utterly embarrassed and ashamed to be adults and to be acting like this on a tv show this is just ridiculous and not to mention petty and completely unnecessary and childish behavior

This Barbara remembers me of my own sister. Always wanting to be right, always thinking others want to overcome her, always making a drama out of her own life to get compassion and attention. Others should do the work and she can benefit from it, too. It's sad for the kids but I'm better off without letting her in into our life, only on Grey rock contact. Patrick is not only depressed about the money. I think he misses his father a lot and couldn't cope with the loss. It's his grieve that's getting in the way to live a happy life. I'm glad Dr Phil offered some help.
This is tragic. But the truth is that this family was a trainwreck long before the aunt died. If it hadn’t been the inheritance that lit the match, something else would have. The real victim is the memory of the aunt who tried to gift her nieces equally.
That decision can only be made by the person leaving the inheritance so it really doesn't matter. Maybe the grandchildren brought her more joy or did more for her than the children
It seems the easyist remedy would be to supply the receipts, either from the estate or the personal account of the woman who claims she did not receive an advance... or both. The executor would have the estate receipts. Otherwise, it's just bickering. It's no wonder why people leave their estates to charity or their pets. No one should know the contents of someone's will until AFTER the death at the reading of the Will.
I was left trustee when my mom died. I saw my family turned into salvage dogs. I found out I really didn't have anyone in my family stand with me in doing what is right and what my parents will and trust said. I had people lie slandered me.recruited people to come against me. I had my roof damaged and my car damaged and even people who gave me death threats and I had to call police. I saw them exactly who they really are and I will never consider them my family. Been one heck of a nightmare filled with pain . I have not even dealt with my mom's death because of people doing such cruel things with words and actions. My parents would be so a shamed of them all.
My mom and aunt stopped talking, my aunt went after my grandpas will. She forced my grandpa’s second’s wife to split all the money. So now it’s almost going to be two years in march since we’ve seen my aunt. Not only did we lose my grandpa but now we don’t have my aunt since she cared about money more. The point is these women rather be right than happy. It happened they are debating like they can change the past
I believe a person has a right to change their will. The family needs to respect their loved ones last wishes. Before she died she should have told everyone the will had changed the will. So they would have knew it was her wishes. Sounds like she changed her mind when she wanted to leave the nursing home and she to her in her home. It changed her mind what she wanted in the will.
Right? I knew I was written out of my parents will for years, I just always knew my sister would give my mums collection of books to me no matter what, never cared about any money
Yeah she probably knew she would have to spend her last days entertaining 4 grown women who aren’t even her children, crying and complaining about each other and faking interest in her so they could get a bigger piece of the pie.
If a person wants to change their will in the last days of their life it has to be done properly with an attorney and unrelated witness, privately, or it can be contested in probate court and dragged out for years. Turns into a nightmare!!
I believe make a will and don't tell anyone who's getting what. Just let them be surprised afterwards. Why fight over money, at least you're getting something.
It is not about the financial implications but rather the deception and moral integrity that is at the core of this matter. Have you truly violated the trust that I had placed in you? My affections for you were genuine, and yet you chose to deceive me. It is this betrayal that requires resolution and causes emotional distress, not the monetary aspect.
I think all 4 of them are awful. Its like they cared more about the inheritance than their aunt! And how is it surprising in any way that the will was changed to include Lindas children? They presumably lived with their parents, which means they lived with their great aunt as well. And speaking from the experience of having my grandmother move in with us towards the end of her life, i helped take care of her. I got her to bed at night, i helped whenever she needed something. It makes sense that the will would have been changed because Linda and her children were taking care of their aunt. And Carol doesnt seem upset at the fact that she thinks her aunt was manipulated and coerced, she seems upset at the fact that shes now getting less money. none of them deserve that money, imo.
the movie Secondhand Lions 2003 annoying money seeking relatives keep coming to their property. The boys great Uncles are so good and funny. I dont know why but awesome movie came to mind.
No one should want an inheritance, you want your parents and grandparents to have enough money to have a nice, safe, comfortable and happy retirement and to live long enough to spend it all. In Australia you can retire at 67 so someone hopefully has another 30 years of retirement to pay for.
The divided inheritance, I think dividing it so evenly is about the most fair thing other than not paying anyone at all. Also if you are going to claim someone influenced and convinced Virginia to change the will why would they make the change so even and fair? If someone is going to be so conniving then would you not expect them to also favor themselves? I guess the claim is she so deviously manipulated her Aunt and FORCED her to make a fair split? lol makes no sense.
Completely unrelated, but isn’t it wild how little fashion has changed in 25ish yrs. I honestly would never have guessed it was from the early years of the show!
If make mistakes with $ management then learn from your mistakes. You cant undo what was done. Forgive yourself & heal emotionally& change your personal life goals expectations. Say I will do better with $ management now and the future.
None of them deserve a penny!! If aunt wants to leave money that is her choice and her choice only!! Aunt shouldve just gave all the money to charity!! These women are ridiculous!
Sisters are more important than anything. I would give anything to have my brother back. I think Linda did pressure Virginia to change the will. Linda’s kids in the will now, come on.
Jesus Christ died for our Sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose Again the third day praise God praying for everyone Everyday God bless you all. .
Money is a necessity but its also what destroy families. How sad that these sisters are fighting for it. I would give all of my share to charities.😅 Money has a nasty way to bring to the surface the true character of people.
I know that when my parents go my 3 siblings will be fighting over the estate and their belongings. They own a horse farm and lots of land my brother allready lives in the granny flat their .supposed to have been for less than a year 10 years later he's still there living for free despite been a police man and having a decent wage . It's my childhood home and I NEVER want to sell it
Unfortunately this scenario is way more common than not. Ask me how I know. Even when things are divided up evenly as parents wanted for their children there was also those physical items in breaking down a lifetime of acquired things, memories, etc. Any unseen cracks that existed in the family dynamics become front stage and center when the last parents dies. Honestly, it can be a shocker when you see your siblings grabbing and tearing while they blame someone else of doing just that when it’s not even close. It’s shameful behavior. Now, listening in this case, I cannot help but agree in regard to “the perfect crime” the lawyer suggests. Linda is completely defensive 100% of the time and the fact that she took 13 k in multiple, (13) checks under 1k, says quite a bit about how she operates. Did I hear her husband became POA? Hmmm, definitely raises an eyebrow or two, especially when you know the POA calls the shots in the distribution process..again, ask me how I know. It’s just sad all the way around. On my parents grave, my Mother chose the verse, “love one another”. Some of us tried to honor that, no matter what. God bless this family for them to let go of their long established biases and truly just love and enjoy each other. Dr. Phil is right, it’s a choice, just don’t put your energy there and choose to love and enjoy your family!
Their argument isn't about the money it's the principle of the situation that one thinks the other was manipulative and coerced their aunt and lied. Not sure why this just keeps going back to money. They made out better with the new will regarding the money portion, this isn't about that. And the sisters have had distrust and problems for years so this last-minute change of the will is just is the icing on the cake. Also, my family has done things similar to how she wrote 13 separate $1,000 checks so we didn't have to go through more red tape. It doesn't mean she did it for bad purposes.
It's amazing how people fight over the convenience of someone's death. These people are insufferable- Its disgusting how often I see this when people are in the hospital. I can't even finish the episode. How pathetic

Why not? If she wanted the grandkids to have money, then they should get the money. The person that earned the money should have the only say so in who it's left to
@@Bri-d2k5u Because it's F'd up and punishing any nieces or nephews who didn't have kids. It's just wrong, but she is gone and obviously doesn't have to care anymore. Also, you never leave any sizeable money to children. You leave it their parents and the parents can make the decision on how much they get and when or if any at all.
Look at these women who love free money. Go make your own.
For real.
I can't believe that they are bickering about money, none of them seem to care about thier deceased aunt.
If Barbara was happy for the will to be divided between the four, with the youngest getting more, why should it be a problem to her if two more were added and the money evenly split, giving her more than the previous will? Seems odd
You lost the money..don't lose each other..that's tragic
Life is never fair - get used to it !
I would be so utterly embarrassed and ashamed to be adults and to be acting like this on a tv show this is just ridiculous and not to mention petty and completely unnecessary and childish behavior
6,000 pounds destroyed mine. My Grandad left me it and I had no idea until after he died because in my head he was never going to die. My siblings never visited and when my Grandad went to visit them they said they were just going out - every single time. He sat outside one time as he was suspicious and no one went anywhere. He was 80 at this point and was absolutely devastated. My poor lovely Grandad was in tears.
They are all slimey but Linda is definitely a bully and probably manipulated the poor aunt
@@O.K.Pemby10 I so agree. I'm sure SHE bullied her aunt into moving in with her AND took more money than she lets on. DEPLORABLE that her kids profited. Ok the Aunt moved in there, but the poor woman certainly PAID for it.
Linda is an inheritance SCAB
This Barbara remembers me of my own sister. Always wanting to be right, always thinking others want to overcome her, always making a drama out of her own life to get compassion and attention.
Others should do the work and she can benefit from it, too.
It's sad for the kids but I'm better off without letting her in into our life, only on Grey rock contact.
Patrick is not only depressed about the money. I think he misses his father a lot and couldn't cope with the loss. It's his grieve that's getting in the way to live a happy life. I'm glad Dr Phil offered some help.
Any wonder she lifted it to the cat 😂😂😂
This is tragic. But the truth is that this family was a trainwreck long before the aunt died. If it hadn’t been the inheritance that lit the match, something else would have. The real victim is the memory of the aunt who tried to gift her nieces equally.
It is just money that they didn't earn.
They are owed nothing.
Yeah all the sisters should get their share and the children should get none.
Agreed, the grand children should not get in on the shares. We sure as heck didn't get squat when our grandparents passed on either side.
That decision can only be made by the person leaving the inheritance so it really doesn't matter. Maybe the grandchildren brought her more joy or did more for her than the children
@@Bri-d2k5u Oh wow, that decision can only be made by the person leaving the inheritance? Really? I had no idea, Sherlock once again to the rescue.
How about go to work and not worry about it 😂
17:37 wow dr phill says it all right here!!
Please let me come along for a laugh!!
People go 180 over inheritance! Very sad and predictable
@@IamPINKIEDaniels Did you get the books? I hope so.
Yeah she probably knew she would have to spend her last days entertaining 4 grown women who aren’t even her children, crying and complaining about each other and faking interest in her so they could get a bigger piece of the pie.
@@NunyaBizness2.0 Lol So true Lol
If a person wants to change their will in the last days of their life it has to be done properly with an attorney and unrelated witness, privately, or it can be contested in probate court and dragged out for years. Turns into a nightmare!!
I believe make a will and don't tell anyone who's getting what. Just let them be surprised afterwards. Why fight over money, at least you're getting something.
They all deserve eachother🗑
They all need to shut up!
the movie Secondhand Lions 2003 annoying money seeking relatives keep coming to their property. The boys great Uncles are so good and funny. I dont know why but awesome movie came to mind.
Love that movie, so full of life
@@sharon-b7k6z ❤
Skip the will and put your assets in a trust.
This when see who real family members are the claws come out when money involved
Completely unrelated, but isn’t it wild how little fashion has changed in 25ish yrs. I honestly would never have guessed it was from the early years of the show!
I never had to worry about that I've been left nothing and don't care
What little money I have is going to the Humane society, already done , relatives are out, puppies and kitties in.
To leave 12 million dollars to a dog and nothing to the grandkids speaks to just how wicked she was..
The sisters probably stopped talking to each other after the show!!!!!
Its amazing how families get greedy over money they didnt earn. Its so discusting that rhe money is more important than your loved ones.
This is so crazy. They should be grateful she gave them anything. They’re greedy af.
If make mistakes with $ management then learn from your mistakes. You cant undo what was done. Forgive yourself & heal emotionally& change your personal life goals expectations. Say I will do better with $ management now and the future.
Anyone else notice there fighting over inheritance but 3 of them have had face surgery so there hardly on the poverty line .
As judge Judy says, you don’t visit me regularly, you aren’t getting anything from my will.
None of them deserve a penny!! If aunt wants to leave money that is her choice and her choice only!! Aunt shouldve just gave all the money to charity!! These women are ridiculous!
They act like they're entitled to their aunt's money when they're not owed a penny. She should've spent it all on herself.
Sisters are more important than anything. I would give anything to have my brother back. I think Linda did pressure Virginia to change the will. Linda’s kids in the will now, come on.
These sisters have been at each other throats all their lives.
Jesus Christ died for our Sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose Again the third day praise God praying for everyone Everyday God bless you all. .

@freyamccauley Are you trying to say that if he didn't die I wouldn't be alive lol what logic is that
Money is a necessity but its also what destroy families.
How sad that these sisters are fighting for it.
I would give all of my share to charities.😅
Money has a nasty way to bring to the surface the true character of people.
I know that when my parents go my 3 siblings will be fighting over the estate and their belongings.
They own a horse farm and lots of land my brother allready lives in the granny flat their .supposed to have been for less than a year 10 years later he's still there living for free despite been a police man and having a decent wage .
It's my childhood home and I NEVER want to sell it
What they say: Its not the lousy $5, its the principle of the thing!
What they really mean: Its the lousy $5!
Money from sold inheritance doesn't last.
Fighting over money and dividing the family just like politics I rather get a refrigerator box and live under a bridge.
