And Joao Felix, bought for €52.5 million, can’t even secure consistent playing time. It's clear the new ownership is dragging the club down. It's a mess.
Eghbali needs to be taken out as the primary force at Chelsea. The original model called for a rework of the wage structure, bringing in primarily younger players. But it was called project 2030 for a reason. As the team progressed there would be the need for fewer and fewer purchases, and the players that earned a spot on the first team could progress to higher wages. As the cash investor, Clearlake were there simply to be the bank that supported long term profit, not a Brighton style revolving player market. If Boehly had been backed we wouldn’t have Maresca, and I do like him, but we never would have lost Chalobah, Gallagher would still be here, and Chelsea becoming a “winning brand” would be THE most important focus.
