1960 Director Kaneto Shindo's ``Naked Island'' Tour of filming locations in Mihara and Onomichi

I came to Sakijima from Onomichi Innoshima Shigei Port to tour the filming locations of Kaneto Shindo's film ``The Naked Island.''
Like Innoshima and Mukojima, it is an island in the Seto Inland Sea. The jurisdiction of Saki Island is Mihara City.
Although the movie ``The Naked Island'' does not have any dialogue, the story of the human drama is understandable.
This film has won awards at numerous international film festivals and is highly acclaimed overseas.
Touring filming locations: At Mihara Saki Island, take pictures from Sagi Port, including the area around the inlet, roads, monuments, etc.
It has been more than 60 years since the movie was released in Onomichi, including the coastal roads and central pier, and the cityscape has changed significantly, making it impossible to pinpoint the location.

初めて観ました。家族を連れて尾道に帰省する時、母の歳もあるのでペンションに宿を取っていました。そのオーナーさんのお父様は生前、新藤兼人の助手をされてたとうかがいました。私たちの知る監督と乙羽信子とのどんな映画が他にあったのか知りたいと思っていました。私の母が瀬戸内の島の生まれでしたので、昭和30年代の島々の生活は今も記憶にあります。やはり新藤兼人ならではの作品ですね。ありがとうございます。

良い映画でした。セリフは殆どないが心に残る映画でした。
確か、外国の映画の賞を受賞しましたね。
