The white dots remind me of my hometown as a kid and the times it would snow on Halloween! Beautiful piece, still has a very autumn vibe with the snow effect ❤
I’ve been hesitating on adding a filbert to my collection but this video is what I needed to see to convince me 😂 And I fully agree with you on angled vs flat. They’re SO much more comfortable! Tbh don’t beat yourself up about not getting the same result as your thumbnail. Sometimes pieces you push through and throw everything at sometimes open up new avenues, techniques, or material mastership to make future pieces really shine. ❤
I just want to say that you're art is such an inspiration! Even though the painting didn't turn out how you intended, (it happens to all of us lol) this one in particular truely left me speechless. It's ethereal, calming, and all the words for evocative. I'm always in awe of artists that have such command over mood, and you've got it. I love it to bits, Chris! ❤
Congratulations on the upcoming launching!! Out of all the craftamo collabs I've seen, your set and box are by far the prettiest. I'm sure its super useful too! I'll try to get my hands on a set, hopefully they ship to my country. Watching you paint is always such a joy
You can dilute the white acrylics to where it’s very watery and do a few halos or a few larger circles with the white dot in the center. If you do it around some of the dots and points on some of the circles it will look like the glowing glitter shine u wanted to
I think you accomplished the magic of fall more with the white dots. When the leaves are blowing around there is always dirt and other debris inside of it making it fell like fall even more. In my home state we have cotton trees and sometimes it’s left behind and falls during autumn. I love you defection of fall.
That was the intention!🥺 to mimic the look of “debris” floating around that is catching the light. Perhaps I could’ve changed up the shapes a bit to make it look less uniform. thank you so much for your kind comment!🫶
I used to dislike angled brushes, but then I painted some of the walls at one of my dad’s workplaces a while back and I learned to appreciate how handy the came in painting the corners.
Congratulations, Chris! The brush set is absolutely stunning. Your artistry and vision are truly inspiring, and it’s amazing to see your talent reflected in these beautiful tools. I know they’ll empower so many artists to create incredible works! 😍🥰🎨
you're too hard on yourself... its so magical to me. it looks like she's in cold air.. or water.. or in the middle of fire or earth.. there are so many ways to interpret this piece. that's why it works. that's art ❤
I really like how the illustration came out, the metallic gleam of the crown draws the eye to the center of the piece and then the general downward trajectoire of everything leads you to the face. I wonder if a starburst composition, with the sparkles grouping heavily on the edges of the character then dispersing outward would’ve helped achieve your initial value comp
Oo yes I can def see that! Actually had I planned it better I think a rim light around the character would definitely have made the lighting feel a lot more impactful 😅 I just felt like moving on at this point haha the snow took me over the edge 😂
This piece is so beautiful as most of them are, also absolutely love love the piece on your brushset so happy it comes with an additional mini print of it I hope to get some of these brushes :)
First time watching your work and I was thinking wow this is very ethereal and magical. Then your like this isn’t as magical as you we’re thinking it would be. This was a beautiful piece and I loved watching you work I feel like you were being too hard on yourself but the white dots don’t read as snow with the falling leaves it looks like a magical moment caught on the cusp of dusk.😊
The piece came out great. Sometimes we just have to get up and walk away from a piece. It made me smile knowing that someone with your talent still has these same what if questions during the process. I am so happy for you and all of your success. Keep it up girl💕💕🥰🥰 Also maybe turning the “snow” into little twinkles✨🤷♀️ Either way it’s gorgeous And I love it. See you Saturday 🤗💕
Oh I really love your selection of brushes! You have a more loose approach to painting that I like for myself when I paint. I'm not usually a brush set girly but yours is very tempting
The brushes are my favourite color I'm so tempted❤. Also maybe the painting might not look what you intended but I've gotta say those falling leaves along with the white dots seeming the first snow are just so charming on their own that I can't be upset about them, then again fall and winter are my fav seasons so I'm highly biased 😂
If that dye blue is positioned nearer towards the butt end at the ferrule it would be better, so your lovely idea of blue detail would last slightly longer. But they look perfect.
I love the illustration, you truly are an amazing artist. We have all overworked a piece when it just isn't turning out the way we envisioned. I think one of the main problems was the background. No offense, but I did not like the black background at the top of the painting, especially in her hair. You drew her hair so lovely, with flowing auburn tresses billowing upward in the wind, but then you faded it out to a sort of smoky black. I think you may have gotten the contrast you were looking for if you had continued her hair in the same vibrant shade as you painted the hair framing her face. I noticed you basically did the same thing in the previous video of the illustration for your brush set. I remember that you said you said you have to work at getting the organic irregular flowing lines when painting hair. Is that why you tend to fade out the rest of the hair versus finishing rendering the hair? I only ask because I know i tend to sometimes make decisions in my art based on my own personal likes and dislikes, and on my strengths and weaknesses. I am terrified of sketching or painting people. And you are absolutely talented and skillful at painting people. I especially love your illustrations that remind of the artwork in vintage/antique children's books. I have always wanted to be able to draw and paint children and animals like the artists/illustrators of those vintage/antique children's books.
It's a lovely painting but I think the painting would've looked much better if the subject's hair looked a bit separated from the background, what I mean is If it had more orange than green in it.
I disagree about it not having a magical feeling. Because of the fact that you, unintentionally, over rendered the character, the white dots compliment the artwork overall. Although an Autumn theme may need to be a bit less saturated, a Christmas/ Winter one doesn't that much. Just my two cents though.
babe- babe wake up CHRIS HONG POSTED

that's probably the association I have too, snowy halloween times haha thank you!

I’m so glad you echo my thoughts about the angle brush being more comfortable to hold!😆 thank you for your kind words!🥺💙
It doesn’t look like snow. It looks magical and ethereal

@@ChrisHongArt You're welcome! 🤗
O, I love how effortlessly you made the crown read metallic! It's so on point!
I think the white dots looks like fire flies. Very magical.

I like how there's already color on the tips. You wouldn't feel bad about using dark colors to paint.
Haha exactly! It’s already pre-dyed 🤪

Oo you know I hadn’t even considered that 😅 not sure if that can be done but maybe if there’s another opportunity I’ll ask about it!😁
@@ChrisHongArt ive seen some benjamin moore brushes made of a similar treatment but theyre more of a home decor equipment :")
the set is beautiful, and the box is chef's kiss . Ill be there to buy the set at 9am from California, can't wait :)
Aw hope you can tune into the live too!!🥰🫶
Great piece it looks magical
Will you be releasing more of the tumble art books? 😊
언니 팬이에요 수채화 밀도 미쳤어요
awesome video
love!
Did you use a pencil to draw before painting? I noticed the pencil lines did not smudge into the paint colours when you painted. How do you do this?
woohoo!!
Hiiii! Will it be shipping to Mexico avaliable for this set of brushes? I reaaaaaaaaally want to buy a set 😢 love ur art Chris
I do believe Craftamo ships worldwide!😃 I imagine the shipping to be pricey.. 🥺 but I think they do!🫶
May I know what paint colour did you use for the skin colour (face)?
What camera do you use? I am never able to record my drawing process because my pencil lines are so light
