Yes, Tig Notaro IS pure Joy even when she is serious, she just has the most warm kindness about her! When I watch her she makes me feel that EVERYTHING is going to be okay!
🎵 Tell it to my heart, tell me I'm the only one, is this really love or just a game? Tell it to my heart, I can feel your body rock every time you call my name...repeat...You've heard Taylor Dayne!
This was super cool! I love Tig and it was awesome for them to get Taylor Dayne to come as well. I haven't heard of or seen her for like 20 years. Super awesome. Love Will Lead You Back will always be a classic.
So I heard a Taylor Dayne song four the first time, on the radio the other day (which I only knew because of the announcer saying so as it was fading out) ~~ which immediately brought back this story of Tig's, that I'd heard a couple of years ago. 😁
NPR did two great things.... A Prarie Home Companion and introducing me to Tig Notaro via "Wait!" "Wait!" "Don't tell me!". She was on a few different NPR programs and I always loved her comedy on those shows.
So funny, I used to work in a small Ma and Pa music store in NJ. Taylor Dane used to come in often. Most of the employees there were either classical or rock musicians, so basically no one in the store knew who she was. I listened to top 40 so I knew who she but would never approach her.
Pat Fitzgerald I had the same feelings. I have epilepsy; which is my biggest fear to bomb the gig. I finally accepted my fears and been doing open mics. I always mention my seizures in a witty way. So far, I haven't nary a seizure :)
Pat, Try to do it. I would like to be a comic for fun, because I tell hilarious stories and make people laugh. Since I was in junior high, I have been frequently told that I have a good since of humor. Yet, my fears, anxiety s d long term depression have stopped me from doing public speaking (which I did in my 30s as part of a past work requirement). Good Luck! BTW, my great grandmother's "maiden name " was Fitzgerald. She was born in Ireland in 1850.
Tig and I used to work together at a coffee joint "Little Frida's Cafe" in West Hollywood. I think it was 1997. She also did stand-up there at the monthly comedy night. She was definitely focused and it's great to see her go so far.
Just move to Santa Barbara. Not kidding. This kind of thing happens there all the time The one and only unbreakable rule you are taught within your first week in town: one must never, ever acknowledge that you recognize them. (E.g. Kathy Ireland helping me find measuring cups in the local kitchenware shop, while I help her find the ramekins. Just two regular, busy gals shopping on a Saturday morning. Ta!) Tig, my heart, you know this! Crossing from the casual acquaintance zone into the fan zone is verboten. But you spun it into gold! LMAO!
got recommended this from a david sedaris reading, and its easy to see the resembalance. she embodies the honesty, introspection, and dry humor that makes him so great as well
Can I say, "We are victims of our times". When one becomes aware as a self-realized single-person-as-a-whole, music of the time of realization becomes very important. I was born in 1960. I love The Association. Wendy especially. I don't care. These were Good Times!
Anyone watching Under a Rock with Tig Notaro?
Sooo funny. She cracks me up!!!
Yup lol! My fav was Wyclef Jean!
I did take a look. Without Tig Notaro though, so just me alone. But there was nothing under the rock. 🤷🏼♂️
@@supersiri I see what you did there lol
Just started! I love how the celebrities are getting a kick out of it!
"Like, I'm not even convinced that she's not here tonight."
first thing I thought of too!
OMG I read this the moment she said it!
and she was
Lookalike contest winner
Tig is a National Treasure.
The video is half over and I haven’t heard her say the F word not even one time. She doesn’t need to… Because she’s funny.😊😂❤
Tig Notaro brings me instantaneous joy.
Yes!
Same here
If you happen to watch the terrible new Netflix Zack Snyder film "Army of the Dead," Tig Notaro is the only highlight.
@@choronos that’s what I thought as well lol!
"I've always loved Taylor Dane and not ironically." That is a brilliant line.
I have no idea who Taylor Dane is, but she sounds like a very unpleasant person. Why would anyone admire that?
@@judeirwin2222 Taylor Dane actually sounds like a comedian genius
Yes, Tig Notaro IS pure Joy even when she is serious, she just has the most warm kindness about her! When I watch her she makes me feel that EVERYTHING is going to be okay!
The only celebrity Tig does know who it is flies over everyone else's heads.
😆
I've seen her tell this story several times, and this time is the best. Go, Tig! You are crushing it!
When this played, I was like "Oh, I've heard this one" (a few times) but then watched the whole thing anyway :P so good
Tig Notaro you're a comedy genius.
I still don't know who Taylor Dane is but I've loved this joke for years hahaha
For years? And you never googled or RUclips searched Taylor Dayne? Watch the Tell It To My Heart Video.
🎵 Tell it to my heart, tell me I'm the only one, is this really love or just a game? Tell it to my heart, I can feel your body rock every time you call my name...repeat...You've heard Taylor Dayne!
This is very late but you found the joke funny without knowing who Taylor was? Now that's funny
She's the chick singing at the end of this skit
Exactly. Why Google?
I love how people hesitated cuz they didn't want to be hecklers. Then finally a guy subtlely yells out, "Taylor Dayne?"
Heard her do this many times so Taylor actually coming or and singing is EPIC
Yeah-- it was worth it just to hear Tig tell the story again!!!
I've listened to her tell this story so many times. I never get tired of it.
My first time seeing Tig. Glad this came up on my you tube.
Ladies and gentleman: The Notarous T. I. G.
I love your smile, Tig❤️🇨🇦❤️
I've heard this story so many times and it's still funny
Cannot believe I've just discovered tig as a comedian. My daughter (tigs) loves her!
Me either saw her in Star Trek Discovery
Tig's the best! Just a bit sad thinking about how ill she was here ❤ Such a performance regardless.
This was super cool! I love Tig and it was awesome for them to get Taylor Dayne to come as well. I haven't heard of or seen her for like 20 years. Super awesome. Love Will Lead You Back will always be a classic.
Everyone jokes that such and such is peak comedy but this is literally PEAK COMEDY
Peak is London slang for crap/bad. It’s not that bad it’s ok.
@@benhall2235 I used to be the lead singer in a band named "Peak" . That explains it.
Every time I see this bit, I can't resist playing it even though I know it by heart.
Hope you have a life by now. Well????
@@fuzzybutkus3951 Better than yours, don't worry about me :-)
I saw this live at the simulcast and still can't get enough of it. Made a permanent Tig fan out of me.
The robot bit was hilarious lmao
And she can and lock! Loved it!
pop and lock
Fab and I hope Taylor is still singing. I love her voice.
this is without a doubt one of the best stories ever told
Great sense of timing! Very funny! Full of surprises.
One of my favorite This American Life episodes.
lol, i've heard this a lot, very glad i stuck around for the ending today
Watching Tig get outplayed in her own bit is so fucking good
Watch this til the end. Amazing
I just found out about Tig when I saw Boyish Girl Interrupted. Lifetime fan. She's such an amazing person and a hilarious comedian.
Her delivery is so amazing. You probably have to be over 40 to know who Taylor Dayne is. Her and Tiffany. Lol.
Taylor Dayne is ON FIRE! Man, those legs... Her song on The Shadow movie soundtrack was amazing
Tig is the best! I wish I could run into her😃
Just change your name to Taylor Dayne!
that was pure genius!
Her timing is epic.
..:this is between me and Taylor Dane"... ha!
The ending is the BEST!
What a unique talent ! Great delivery
made my day...both are legends in their art.

I am convinced no other human would make this acquaintance and narration as legendary as Tig ❤
I love you Tig❤
She is hilarious, love her!
Love you Tig....I wish you were my best friend
Pacing, delivery, stage presence, all outstanding illustration of story telling over jokes.

Wow laughing so hard that was hilarious great job Tig!
All anybody needs is a little love and nurturing and to be appreciated...
This was just the icing on the cake to this story that Tig has told. I love Taylor’s voice, too.
I was not expecting Taylor Dane to actually be there.

Which one? Can you be more specific?
"Beat that Car Talk." LoL 😎
Needed a laugh and reeeeally got one. Fab!
This is between me and Taylor Dane HAHAHAHA
I maintain that the depiction of Kyle “on the phone” is the best part of this story.
For me it’s between that and the robot lol
She's an amazing robot!!!
Tig is my favorite comedian!
That awkward Michael Jackson kick was everything.
Damn spell check, she meant "slick"
It was great! And she can "pop and lock" perfectly!
this made my morning!!!
You Rule Tig Notaro
who is the woman singing at the end? I really love her voice.
@@doarmihaela I hear she has a nice voice
Her speaking voice?
Sorry for interrupting, but I really love her voice
You should tell her
Wow I wish I could do standup comedy.... I have a lot to share inside, but people scare me a lot. Tig makes it look easy.

Conan brought me here, glad I saw this, very funny.
Well now I know exactly what to say if I run into Tig Notaro.
