Iowa Wildlife Center Controlled Prairie Burn - March 25, 2023

Yesterday, trained Iowa Wildlife Center volunteers conducted a controlled burn on IWC's WildWay grounds. Controlled prairie burns help restore nutrients to the soil, remove dead organic matter, and prevent invasive species from out-competing native prairie plants. Many hours over several days went into preparing the area for a safe and successful fire.
