I always was skeptical about trading, and I had low expectations.
This is ABYSMAL, what a horrible feature. Disgusting from the devs. They had MONTHS.
It’s so disheartening. The TCGO had such a good system that they could’ve copied and changed slightly as well

I'm a bit disappointed you need to get rid of cards to get trading tokens so you can trade cards lol. Seems a little backwards, but hopefully they listen to constructive feedback on it. Have a good day everyone. New packs tomorrow :)
I'm also very disappointed I had to burn multiple cards to trade 1 card
not surprised if you ever played Pokemon masters ex their other game they do this type of thing a lot.
I think you can get tokens from events, but I expect it won't be much.
I wish they had done a market like the GE in Runescape. You burn cards for the currency, or by trading your cards on that marketplace, and it just takes a small listing fee when you list something.
Getting rid of your duplicates to trade your duplicate card is VERY counter productive. SMH!
This isn't trading this is literally Crafting. Yes trading is implemented but only for commons and uncommons but for rares, ex and 1stars you literally have to destroy cards to obtain tokens, by that point I can tell that's not trading anymore, that's crafting. DONT BE FOOLED PEOPLE. And the Devs should Stop deceiving us as well, they should either REMOVE Trade tokens or Remove TRADE from their game name.
Trading is awful, having to burn so many cards just to trade for 1 EX and then you have to "rebuild" the burn pile for the next EX.
For F2P players its a terrible system.
I thought they would just assign trade values to each card - 1 star = 4 - and that's how many trade stamina it would cost to trade it.
imagine naming your game "a trading card game"
just to add the worst trading feature known to mankind, even caveman had a better trading method than this.
did they want to add trading one day before the new set to create hype, or to ruin it?

The trading feature is a complete joke seeing as how really the only players that it benefits is FTP players yet getting the required amount of trade points is almost unachievable for players who are not spending money. Having whales trade whales doesn't seem to benefit anyone.

as a F2P player I was sooo excited for trading to come out, but as soon as i saw trading I was just completely dissapointed, i have not traded a single card cause this system sucks. For me to trade away a 3diamond card, I have to get rid of 5 other 3 diamond cards (not including the one i trade to the other person) and this onyl of 3 diamond cards i have more of 2 copies. I now have 1582 card and I only have 8 3diamond cards I coul trade in for tokens. This is just a fucking joke, its usles, its ridiculous and I dont see myself trading any card in the near future if they dont completely change this garbage system.
It says a lot when someone that has all the cards twice and some more doesn't feel comfortable trading....
That’s because John gave all of you an unrealistic idea of what to expect when he should’ve never let you guys think you can trade for whatever card you want. Just not realistic. If you want entertaining content, John’s the guy, but if you want informative and what to expect in updates, please look up someone else. John is not someone you wanna get your updates and what to expect from.
@@ericrossoni You're missing the point entirely. He doesn't like the trade system, but having to trade cards of the same rarity is only a small part of it. Basically everything about the trading system is awful, to the point that no one could have predicted it would be so awful.
@@ericrossoni I think it's actually reasonable to expect a decent trading system that doesn't waste away cards. Even people with the lowest expectations coming into trading would have been disappointed with what was put out. So I don't think John's optimism for trading was unfounded. The developers of the game really did bamboozled everyone.
I added random friends from battles and wonder picks in anticipation of trading. None of my IRL friends play the app. How the hell am i able to see what cards they have to trade or communicate with them??? Unusable!
You can start with commenting with your player ID and what cards you need. It helps with joining a discord and meeting players for trading.
@@ericrossoni having to use external platforms to communicate is so lazy by the devs. that on top of how greedy this feature is is insane

I understand trading the same rarity but having to get rid of cards to be able to trade for ones you need… that’s wild.
People DON'T BE FOOLED! They implemented Trading feature yes, but only for commons and uncommons. Absolutely abysmal honestly... Requires slow refilling stamina, loss of bulk cards to trade for only one, you can't ask for a specific card and you have to have two or more cards remaining after destruction to even be able to destroy cards as well... Absolutely BS... As a F2P player its not even worth playing the stupid game at all unles youre pouring money into it...
Definitely seems broken for anyone who is a free-to-play player. I get not wanting to plummet the pack ecosystem by letting people trade basic cards for ex/gold/etc, but burning a bunch of cards is wild. Should at least add something where if you trade in person with the other player it's free/discounted.
We all need to put our foot down and tell them this isn't cool. Let us trade what we want. Whenever we want. However we want. No stupid restrictions. Nintendo and the pokemon company hate people having fun and have done for ages.
Trading was meant for f2P players because the people who spend money will have the cards they want and they implemented trade this way. Really sad and disappointed
They added trading like people wanted, they just forgot to add all the features that would make it good and added all the possible features to make it shit. Just shows they really dont care about the players or the reputation of the game. I knew they'd want a boatload of money, I just thought they'd be a bit less subtle about it.
The system they came up with is so terrible. It's way to expensive and unless you know the person irl there's no way of getting the card you want since you can't communicate with them. I could think of 100 better ways they could have implemented this

Damn it sucks when developers take something with so much potential and you can just feel the greed as a consumer. I was playing almost every day and was super excited for this feature just to see it turn into shit

Within 24hrs the fun got sucked out of the game for me. Trading sucks, and gp wonderpicks got removed, i mean yeah we getting a new pack but i dont think it balances out, the whole point of this game is more of the trading aspect yet it is the worst feature of this game, hope they can fix it in the future.
I Uninstalled the game a month ago because I was fed up with F2P luck. Had 3% hit rate basically like out of 2000 cards I opened I had like 11 good ones, and I had a gut feeling we would get screwed over by trading because greedy company. I mean why would you let your player base have fun when you could have more money

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Shinedust should have been the 2nd trade currency instead of trade tokens. Everyone has X amount of shinedust apready. Definotely a missed opportunity by devs.
I’m kind of mad that trading isnt simple just like trading a card for any card. I get they don’t want people to send a 1 diamond for a gold card from a friend or so. But as a free to play player that has been playing everyday from launch, I haven’t got a new card in literally months besides some new ones in mythical islands. It’s kind of sad to see a such hyped part of the game be so secluded plus I can’t get good cards from friends or so.

That is not realistic for a card game. How is the game suppose to make money if all streamers spend thousands of dollars to get valuable cards and trade them all for cheap cards to players who don’t spend a dime? This game wouldn’t last long lol

I am very upset John mislead so many people with being ignorant and not realistic about what to expect regarding trading, just for everyone to be disappointed when they should’ve been realistic. This is like a collector opens a bunch of pokemon boxes, gets a lot of valuable cards and trades them all away for crappy cards. Collectors don’t do this in real life and players shouldn’t expect a free game that needs to make money, for players to exploit the trading system lol
The problem is they don't want players like you to just give other players the cards they need. They want every dollar, doesn't matter how small.
The animations for dismantling cards for tokens are spot on. You buy the cards from them with real money, then you need to sell them back those cards for virtual money. It's a win win for them. 🤣👌👌

it's honestly impressive how badly they screwed this up. I wonder which investor is to blame for this, because it can't have just been the dev's saying "yeah, totally, lets speedrun the 'alienate our entire audience' category, we could probably PB." The backlash for this is gonna be insane, reminds me of the 2017 Star Wars Battlefront 2 fiasco, they killed a ton of goodwill because they chose to add loot boxes and actively make the game worse just to profit. $400 million a quarter wasn't enough, PTCGP wants your kidneys too.
Btw. It does say you’ll be able to get tokens in missions , so let’s hope that’s the savior. But they still need to add chat so you can talk about trades

This format just makes it so you have to talk to people outside the game to be able to let them know what you want. So something needs to be added to be able to communicate what you are looking for to those you have no access to outside just the game.

It's pretty sad to see how expensive and non-worth this trading system is. I remember talking about how a free trading system prevents fresh accounts from obtaining items too easily, but is there a better way for prices to be scewed between rarities?

This trade system is hot garbage. If there is no way to earn trade currency either by daily missions or some other means, f2p players gets the shaft. Why even bother capping it at 1 star if you're going to make it this difficult to trade?

I’m glad my best friend is the one who got me into the game so we can just tell each other which cards we have we made our first trades yesterday and it was a success and I didn’t have to burn too many cards but I don’t think I’ll use the feature with anyone else other than him 😅 hope they fix this feature tho I feel like they will with how badly it was received 🤞

I have been opening packs since release and I don’t have enough cards to trade 1 ex card it’s absolutely crazy
The trading feature was outrageously horribly designed. Like wtf were they thinking?!
First of all, there is no way to communicate with the friend your trading with to know what card you want to request from the friend so there's no way to know what they want for them to accept the trade.
And second of all, don't even get me started on the cost of trading. I am a F2P player and the fact I have to burn through 20 four diamond cards just to be able to trade 1 EX card is RIDICULOUS. I don't have ennough duplicates of these EX cards to convert them to tokens nor do I have a lot of these cards to giveaway for trading as I either don't have the card at all, or I barely have 1 or 2 of them and need to have 2 for deck use. Guess I will never be able to trade in this trading card game.
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
I was so hyped to see trading coming in. Having the ability to give a crappy card to hopefully receive a good one. Not only is that not possible now you have to basically burn 4 ex cards to get one back. AND on top of that if you run out it’s an astronomical amount of money you have to spend to recover stamina and token. Since the only way to get enough tokens is trading big rarity cards. Hopefully they listen and can change this.
I burned all my cards to trade. Now I have no cards to trade.
We gotta review the app and give it 1 STAR, it’s the only way the corporate peeps are gonna understand

definitely a horrible trading implementation. if they wanted to forbid account-resetting bots, then lock it behind levels or missions that have you win a certain number of the ai battles
Trading is in a terrible place in it's current form in the game. I hope they make changes to it soon, because how they rolled out this feature is truly disappointing.
Do a nuzlock in Pokémon scarlet or violet but each time you lose a pokemon you remove a 2 3 or crown rarity

Muk is the card I need as well . Have a complete basic set. Just need one more to build a deck. I traded a couple with my daughter this morning and we were able to discuss first what we needed.. ironically she needs muk as well.
Might as well review bomb the trading update and hope that helps change things after a while

Pokemon didn’t scam you, you just had a crazy unrealistic way of how trading would work, when most players were practical, knew we couldn’t trade valuable cards for crappy cards lol

This is a horrendous system, such a fun game but this is really taking the fun away for free to play players. Also gutted they have patched godpack wonder picks as that was so fun as well.
It's a bit disappointing but I'm OK with never using the feature, I'd have preferred them adding a chat feature into the game so you can actually talk to other people, would have been more fun to me also add a spectator mode so you can just watch people play too
