너무 마음 아픈건 드라마 속 내용이 전부 사실이라는 거. '예쁘고 잘생기면 별 노력 없이도 대우 받지만 예쁘고 잘생겼다는 사람들의 기준에 미치지 못하면 아무리 피나게 노력해도 별 대우를 받지 못한다' 이게 너무 당연하듯이 인정하게 되는 시대가 되어버린 것. 극중 수아가 하는 마지막 대사가 너무 현실적이라서 놀란건 덤 😔

맞아요ㅜㅜㅠ수아 완전 불쌍한 캐릭터예요..원작에서는 수아 과거얘기 많이 나오는데 드라마에서는 짧게 나온게 조금 아쉬워요.. 원작에서는 수아 엄마랑 아빠랑 이혼했는데 엄마가 마침 수아발견해서 목욕시켜주고 씻고보니까 아빠랑 쏙 빼닮았다고 그래서 엄마가 수아 버릴려고 수아가 붙잡고 중학교2학년때까지 왕따당했었는데 목욕하고 깨끗하게 오니까 애들이 현수아 원래 저렇게 이뻤냐면서 잘해주기 시작하고 남자애들이 여자 외모 순위 1위로 현수아 뽑고 여자애들 얼굴 매기고 이 학교에서 자기가 제일 이뻐보여야 한다면서 지내고.. 어느날에 자기 친구가 쌍수해서 왔는데 그 이후로 애들은 그 친구에게 관심가져주니까 뭔가 진 기분이고 그렇게 살다가 결국 수아 마인드가 자기가 제일 이뻐보여야하고 제일 착해야하고 자기는 운으로 이쁘게 태어났는데 성형수술로 이뻐진애들은 행복을 왜 그렇게 쉽게 가져가냐면서 미래 만나고나서 괴롭힌이유가 바로 이거였쥬.. 너무 불쌍한 캐릭터예요ㅜㅜ.. 사랑받기위해서 뭐든 다하는..
This is the difference in how people grow up. Soo ah went through a lot obviously but what makes her different to mirae is that mirae received love and support from her friend and family where as sooa went through all of it alone. This shows how important the people around you are and can influence on someone. Sooa has turned out to be one of the most twisted characters but deep down I hope she grows up and can turn around the way she thinks to a normal decent person.

Oh cmon, u should feel sorry for Soo Ah, she was left by her parents. Who would teach her to be a good and kind person then? Be realistic. In the webtoon, Soo Ah was thrown a trash can to and was bullied (The drama showed fewer horrible scenes). Mirae has great parents and a great best friend while Soo Ah has noone truly cares for her but they all only care about her beauty. In fact, Soo Ah didn’t actually harm anybody, she’s just a man-tester. She tried everything on her own, she even got to such a great university without anyone’s encouragement. Without Soo Ah, Mirae wouldn’t have been as strong as Mirae is now. Don’t just look at her flaws look at her whole, that’s the message of the webtoon and the drama.

하지만 현실과 전혀 동떨어진 이야기가 아니라서 더 슬프다. 남자보다 여자가 더 외모에 예민하고 민감하게 받아들여지고 미적 기준이 더 구체적이라 그 밖의 사람들은 비난의 대상이 된다. 화장하고, 머리하고, 말을 예쁘게 하고, 사근사근 웃고, 애교가 많고, 착하고, 참하고, 얌전하고, 예의 바르고... 무의식적으로 요구 되는게 참 많아서 그리고 당연시 여겨져서 참 안타깝다. 외모뿐만 아니라 성적 대상이 되어 피해자가 되는 현실도 정말 처참하다. 남자 여자 모두 그저 다른 성일 뿐, 그 이상 그 이하도 아닌데 여성과 관련된 범죄는 만연하다. 여성만 당한다는 것이 아니라 상대적으로 많이 있다. 연쇄 살인, 성폭행은 주로 남자가 여자에게 행한다. 어린 아이나 노약자, 단순 폭행이 아니고서야 주로 타겟은 여자다. 굳이 멀리 가지 않아도 metoo, 승리사건, n번방, 최근 30대 남자의 연쇄살인사건, 여대생 몰카 등 뿐만이 아니라 여성연예인이나 일반인을 향한 성희롱이 정말 흔히 볼 수 있다. 남자 연예인 직캠과 여자 연예인 직캠을 보면 단숨에 찾을 수 있다. 물론 남자 직캠에서도 아예 볼 수 없는 것은 아니나 그 빈도차이가 아주 크다. 입에도 담지 못할 말을 댓글에서는 5번에 2번꼴로 볼 수 있고 그걸 자랑스럽게 여기는듯이 쓰여있다... 그리고 성별하면 항상 나오는 군대/ 임신 문제. 나는 여자이지만 군대를 여자도 갈 수 있다고 생각하고 군대를 가는 남자에 대한 혜택도 더 많아져야 한다 생각한다. 애초에 생명을 만드는 아름다운 일과 국가를 지키는 일을 비교하는 것 자체가 웃기지만 힘듦의 차이를 비교하자면 말이 안되는 건 아니다. 예전에는 임신이 의무처럼 여겨졌지만 지금은 선택으로 바뀌는 추세이다. 다만 입대는 여전히 의무다. 약 2년의 시간동안 강제적으로 나라를 위해 희생하는 대신 그 만큼의 보상을 주어 만족스러운 군대생활이 되도록 최선을 다해야 한다 생각한다. 그리고 두 일 모두 자랑스러운 일이니 이것 가지고 누가 힘드네 마네 하며 안 싸우면 여한이 없다. 정말 정신이 올바른 여자, 남자가 이 시대의 젊은 멋진 사고를 가진 사람들이 세상을 조금이라도 더 살기 편하도록 인식을 바꾸었으면 좋겠다. 서로가 서로를 그냥 사람으로 대했으면 좋겠다.
Ok i kind feel bad for Soo A because she had sad childhood but that doesn't mean she should bully others, even Mi Rae had a painful childhood but she never bullied anyone.
Mirae has her parents and friend. At least she's not alone. There's someone who'll support her. Then what about So Ah? She's alone,no one care abt her. That's what u became when u have no one to share your sadness.
It's not that she didn't have anyone beside but she doesn't knows the meaning of love, kindness and affection. She doesn't trusts anyone because she doesn't knows how to judge people. But once she became pretty she had made a mindset that being the most pretty will always keep people beside her, that's the reason she behaved like that. Not that it justifies her action towards mirae or the other people she hurted but she clearly needed someone to rely on who loves her, not for her looks but her innerself. That unnie understood it and helped her. I'm so glad that Soo ah seeked psychiatric treatment in the end.
Soo-ah remembers her school days. Girls make fun of Soo-ah and talk about her parents dumping her because she is dirty. And actually, Soo-ah is very dirty as if she has no one to take care of her. Soo-ah walks home and sees a woman in the street. This woman asks her if she cleans herself? Cut to this woman giving her a bath a good scrubbing. Then she takes her to eat something. But this woman looks upset. While eating she tells her that she should at least clean herself. You can go home alone right? She gets up to leave. But Soo-ah tells her not to leave, don’t abandon me again. Umma says that she can’t. Soo-ah asks why. Umma tells her that she did not give her anything, but she hopes that she will at least do well. The next day, Soo-ah is super clean and pretty looking. She hears all the girls talk about how pretty she is. She starts to get a lot of friends because she is so pretty. Boys start to tell her that they like her because she is pretty. Later on, she write in her diary - to be loved, I need to be pretty and cute, but I shuold not know that I am pretty, I should be nice and kind and not too smart.
To anyone who hasn't read the webtoon, she was not only abandoned by her parents and bullied in school, she was also abused by her grandmother. Her father was well know for being very good looking, she was constantly being told that her mother had an affair since the kid turned out to be so ugly which is why the grandmother used to verbally and physically abuse her. In the drama they missed that. The cute grandmother we saw earlier had a whole different backstory. Till then she was not loved by anyone in her life. It was only after the whole learning to take a bath for the first time scene that Soo Ah starts learning to take care of herself and she starts getting accepted by at least her classmates that she hears for the first time that they love her.

I understand what Soo-Ah did was wrong and Mi Rae was bullied too but the glaring difference was that Mi Rae was still loved and supported by her family and actually had friends. Soo Ah was abandoned and basically lived alone in a abused mindset, people only came to her for her looks and she manifested that toxicity as her mindset. She is antagonistic but is not the villain, her character is very well fleshed out.

im actually sobbing I've always had a soft spot for her. Yes she was terrible but she wasnt born a bad person, life made her into a person who made bad choices.
Even if she behaved badly towards Mirae and others, I can’t help but feel empathetic towards her... She became like this because of her environment and circumstances. She became a bad person because she was mistreated. No one really helped her or gave her affection, so when she found a way to receive love, as superficial as it could be, she was ready to do anything. And it’s very sad for her because all she wanted was love and only values her face and appearance because she thinks it’s the only thing she has to get appreciated by others... I like Sooah because she’s different from other evil characters in dramas. She’s very fragile and insecure and it pushed her to behave the way she does now.
Mirae suffered a lot but she's still have family and friend. At least Mirae got someone to share her sadness. When So Ah got no one in her side. She just want someone who truly love her without any terms but instead everyone in her sorrounding only care about looks. That's why she think as long as she's the prettiest she won't get lonely.

Geez after watching this ep. I realized that there are always behind the story. We can't judge people easily because we don't even know their other story. This drama is really worth watching. And btw I loved Jo Woo Ri now because other than she's a good actress she also resemble Irene ㅋㅋㅋ
I don't hate her character at all, this is how your brain deals with trauma, her parents didn't show affection so the only attention she got was only because of beauty, so she has to be likeable, obedient, pretty, cute, humble etc this is the only way she knows and it's not her fault. I didn't finish the series yet but I hope she gets to live with peace on her heart, and she deserves to beloved the right way

Not every people same bad memories make some people like mirae or like sooah she has trauma because everybody obsessed her look and dont treat her right before when she is not pretty makes her like that i dont defend what she is doing but this is understandable
You guys have no idea the sort of emotional abuse Sooah recieved. Pissing me off how some of you maintain zero psychological knowledge and claim that Sooah should not have treated Mirae that way. Abandoned by her parents, she was not taught the basis of respect- instead at the age where the brain absorbs information like a sponge, she learnt that treating others from their appearance was normal due to the excessive bullying and sudden likeability for her. She learnt that to gain the attention and love her mum didn't give her, she needed to look pretty and be the prettiest. Her bestest friend betrayed her after getting plastic surgery and dated the guy she liked, deeming her to hate Mirae, she didn't have the willpower to overcome the negative unfair hatred because she never had any real positivity to begin with. Her obsessive behaviour with men is due to the fact that she silently seeked for acceptance in a negative way because that was the only way she was raised to be used to and be familiar with- negativity. That is proved by the last episode where she tells Kyungseok she never liked him, even for a second. She only started to be genuine with the people around her momentarily (she was leaving) because of an individual who took initiative and gave her the attention she really needed- someone to care for her and to look after her. A true friend she never had. Sooah is definitely my favourite character in terms of development.
This is what Im exactly looking for, generally speaking according to psychology (esp erik erickson's 8 stages of psychosocial development) childhood experiences can greatly affect your adulthood, not just affect but determine what would be your personality or how would you behave in the future. Of course you can shift from negative to positive with efforts but that pretty much explains why. P. S just sharing a knowledge and an opinion as well
I love how you guys stand up for her. I used to think like that too (where bad incidents does not justify bad action) but seriously guys that is the most common outcome in the society. Soon, you will realize how important LOVE and support systems are in life. Those who take their families and friends for granted, surely will regret that later on. For those who have lost their parents or friends, I seriously hope you can find someone (that you can trust) to share your feeling with, share your feelings and most importantly who can guide you or at least make you in a good control whenever bad things happen. 솔직히 저도 이것에대한트라우마가 강하게있어요 중1..안경쓰고앞머리 안내릴때 남자애들에게 은따비슷한거당하고 선생님들도외면했는데ㅣ중2때 안경빼고앞머리 내리니까 세상이 친절해졌어요..... 남자선생님들 다 관심가지고....일진애들이 집적대고 근데 은따당할시절 생각하니까 그때가좋아서 당시에는 그냥좋은게좋은거다 생각했어요 그러다가 고등학교되서살찌니까 다시외면받고 외모로 차별받음 남자,여자할것없이..근데 그때트라우마가머리에박혀서 강박처럼살아가고있녜요 근데 그때경험이 아니라도 요즘 문화가 너무외모지상주의를 부추겨서 제주변친구들도 외모강박증이있더라구요..근데 사람은 외모에 관심이갈수밖에없는존재라서 세상이글러먹은건지 인간은태어나면서부터 그런 존재인건지..헷갈리네요.. 근데 외모로사람을차별하지는않아요..그냥 스스로에게 강박적임

솔직히 저도 그렇고 다른사람들도 외모에 대한 압박감을 조금씩은 가지고 사는 것 같아요, 늦게 일어나면 화장을 못하고 나온 자신의 쌩얼을 보여주기 싫어하거나 빨리 평소대로 화장하려고 하는 그런 모습에서 저는 압박감이 보여지는거 같아요.

This is the difference in how people grow up. Soo ah went through a lot obviously but what makes her different to mirae is that mirae received love and support from her friend and family where as sooa went through all of it alone. This shows how important the people around you are and can influence on someone. Sooa has turned out to be one of the most twisted characters but deep down I hope she grows up and can turn around the way she thinks to a normal decent person.

In the webtoon, Soo Ah was thrown a trash can to and was bullied (The drama showed fewer horrible scenes). Mirae has great parents and a great best friend while Soo Ah has noone truly cares for her but they all only care about her beauty. In fact, Soo Ah didn’t actually harm anybody, she’s just a man-tester. She tried everything on her own, she even got to such a great university without anyone’s encouragement. Without Soo Ah, Mirae wouldn’t have been as strong as Mirae is now. Don’t just look at her flaws look at her whole, that’s the message of the webtoon and the drama.

어린 아이나 노약자, 단순 폭행이 아니고서야 주로 타겟은 여자다. 굳이 멀리 가지 않아도 metoo, 승리사건, n번방, 최근 30대 남자의 연쇄살인사건, 여대생 몰카 등 뿐만이 아니라 여성연예인이나 일반인을 향한 성희롱이 정말 흔히 볼 수 있다.

물론 남자 직캠에서도 아예 볼 수 없는 것은 아니나 그 빈도차이가 아주 크다.

그리고 성별하면 항상 나오는 군대/ 임신 문제.
나는 여자이지만 군대를 여자도 갈 수 있다고 생각하고 군대를 가는 남자에 대한 혜택도 더 많아져야 한다 생각한다. 애초에 생명을 만드는 아름다운 일과 국가를 지키는 일을 비교하는 것 자체가 웃기지만 힘듦의 차이를 비교하자면 말이 안되는 건 아니다.
예전에는 임신이 의무처럼 여겨졌지만 지금은 선택으로 바뀌는 추세이다. 다만 입대는 여전히 의무다.
약 2년의 시간동안 강제적으로 나라를 위해 희생하는 대신 그 만큼의 보상을 주어 만족스러운 군대생활이 되도록 최선을 다해야 한다 생각한다.
그리고 두 일 모두 자랑스러운 일이니 이것 가지고 누가 힘드네 마네 하며 안 싸우면 여한이 없다.
정말 정신이 올바른 여자, 남자가 이 시대의 젊은 멋진 사고를 가진 사람들이 세상을 조금이라도 더 살기 편하도록 인식을 바꾸었으면 좋겠다. 서로가 서로를 그냥 사람으로 대했으면 좋겠다.

It's not that she didn't have anyone beside but she doesn't knows the meaning of love, kindness and affection. She doesn't trusts anyone because she doesn't knows how to judge people. But once she became pretty she had made a mindset that being the most pretty will always keep people beside her, that's the reason she behaved like that. Not that it justifies her action towards mirae or the other people she hurted but she clearly needed someone to rely on who loves her, not for her looks but her innerself. That unnie understood it and helped her. I'm so glad that Soo ah seeked psychiatric treatment in the end.

To anyone who hasn't read the webtoon, she was not only abandoned by her parents and bullied in school, she was also abused by her grandmother. Her father was well know for being very good looking, she was constantly being told that her mother had an affair since the kid turned out to be so ugly which is why the grandmother used to verbally and physically abuse her. In the drama they missed that. The cute grandmother we saw earlier had a whole different backstory. Till then she was not loved by anyone in her life. It was only after the whole learning to take a bath for the first time scene that Soo Ah starts learning to take care of herself and she starts getting accepted by at least her classmates that she hears for the first time that they love her.

I understand what Soo-Ah did was wrong and Mi Rae was bullied too but the glaring difference was that Mi Rae was still loved and supported by her family and actually had friends. Soo Ah was abandoned and basically lived alone in a abused mindset, people only came to her for her looks and she manifested that toxicity as her mindset. She is antagonistic but is not the villain, her character is very well fleshed out.

And it’s very sad for her because all she wanted was love and only values her face and appearance because she thinks it’s the only thing she has to get appreciated by others... I like Sooah because she’s different from other evil characters in dramas. She’s very fragile and insecure and it pushed her to behave the way she does now.

I don't hate her character at all, this is how your brain deals with trauma, her parents didn't show affection so the only attention she got was only because of beauty, so she has to be likeable, obedient, pretty, cute, humble etc this is the only way she knows and it's not her fault. You guys have no idea the sort of emotional abuse Sooah recieved. Pissing me off how some of you maintain zero psychological knowledge and claim that Sooah should not have treated Mirae that way. Abandoned by her parents, she was not taught the basis of respect- instead at the age where the brain absorbs information like a sponge, she learnt that treating others from their appearance was normal due to the excessive bullying and sudden likeability for her. She learnt that to gain the attention and love her mum didn't give her, she needed to look pretty and be the prettiest. Her bestest friend betrayed her after getting plastic surgery and dated the guy she liked, deeming her to hate Mirae, she didn't have the willpower to overcome the negative unfair hatred because she never had any real positivity to begin with. Her obsessive behaviour with men is due to the fact that she silently seeked for acceptance in a negative way because that was the only way she was raised to be used to and be familiar with- negativity. That is proved by the last episode where she tells Kyungseok she never liked him, even for a second. She only started to be genuine with the people around her momentarily (she was leaving) because of an individual who took initiative and gave her the attention she really needed- someone to care for her and to look after her. A true friend she never had. Sooah is definitely my favourite character in terms of development.

This is what Im exactly looking for, generally speaking according to psychology (esp erik erickson's 8 stages of psychosocial development) childhood experiences can greatly affect your adulthood, not just affect but determine what would be your personality or how would you behave in the future. Of course you can shift from negative to positive with efforts but that pretty much explains why.

I love how you guys stand up for her. I used to think like that too (where bad incidents does not justify bad action) but seriously guys that is the most common outcome in the society. Soon, you will realize how important LOVE and support systems are in life. Those who take their families and friends for granted, surely will regret that later on.
For those who have lost their parents or friends, I seriously hope you can find someone (that you can trust) to share your feeling with, share your feelings and most importantly who can guide you or at least make you in a good control whenever bad things happen. Never be alone. Human are born to live with each other .. although yeahh ... we were destined to be born and die alone. Haha. Believe in faith, people!
