This is the most patriotic song ever. Not only for us Finns. Sibelius composed this when Finland was a part of Russian empire, but longing for independence. And of course, every Independence Day the movie "Unknown Soldier" is played on TV, and this song is a part of that. Makes us adult men cry....And almost every man in Finland has served in the defence forces, and the video reflects that...

It is definitely emotional song. I've seen couple of foreigners reactions to this vid. Saw this video first time time today. And foreigners emotional reaction starts to flow, when they sing "Synnyinmaa". Which mean "father's land" or "mother's land". But literally means "country´, you were born in". Ofc for me that is emotional, but I see foreigners have same reactions, at very same moment, is magical.

"Sä että karkoitit orjuuden" "that you banished slavery". "Fun fact", Finland suffered more of slavery than Africa, if you count population.

    Google translate, few words fixed:
O Finland, look, Your day is coming
The threat of the night banished is already gone
And in the brightness of the morning skylark calls
As if the top of heaven itself was ringing
The powers of the night, the light of the morning is already winning
My day is coming, O land of my birth
Oh get up, Finland, get up high
    Get forged by great memories
Oh stand up, Finland, you showed the world
    That you banished slavery
And that you didn't bend under the oppression
The morning has begun, land of birth
