      i made a telescop inn my childhood using glasses lens, paper for tube and some other lens from some broken camera or so for the ocular - we did not have much choice back in ussr so it was not just for fun but also for nessesity

    Eventhough I've known that leaves have a vascular system, but it's still so weird to me how closely it parallels the animal vascular system with blood. Makes cutting a leaf seam abit more violent.

    Nice slides! It's been literal decades since I learned any of the basics, but never once did we get to see images like THAT. Only drawings in the science textbooks - which, I'm not knocking those, science illustrators have one of THE coolest jobs and sometimes a very challenging one. But those pretty and simplified pictures just don't convey the organization and complexity the same way. That said, I do still recall even 30-plus years later, the demonstration of "how xylem works" using food coloring and a stalk of celery. The slides are cooler though!

    When I was in elementary school I bought a microscope that used a mirror to reflect light through my slides. I still have it.
