- Flight RG-407 was a US Navy flight that crashed i to the Philippines sea about 70 minutes after take off from Cubi Point in the Philippines en route to Tan Son Nhut Airbase in Vietnam. There were four crew onboard, including Airman James "Jimmy" VanBussum, who recently featured in our video War Hero Father FOUND after 53 years. Incredibly, 40 years after the crash, the US Navy declassified the mission and revealed there were also six special Navy Cryptologists (spooks) on the flight, being transported to the USS Enterprise in the Gulf of Tonkin. We sat down with the author of Unwritten In Stone Chief Petty Officer (Ret) Chris Patti who wrote about this ill fated flight back in 2011 and the reasons why crew and passengers should have their names inscribed onto the Vietnam Wall Memorial. Now after hearing all the correct information we will petition the Department of Defence to have their names included onto the Wall.

Imagine a grieving family for their lost brother, son, uncle who's body that was not retrieved, it was a blessing that he left a son in the Philippines at least it will ease the pain of the family for loosing a son, a brother and an uncle.God Bless Leah and Blair. A National disgrace these men are not included. Vietnam vet here wishing that this will be resolved in your time. Charging for the return of his belonging is beyond the pale! I recently acquired a a headstone for a friend of mine who served 3 tours in Vietnam. He died while living his retirement in Vietnam after 10 years. His cremains are interred in Vietnam but the US government does have s procedure to get a headstone/marker placed in a National cemetery without a body. For that I’m grateful. Good luck with this mission and where can we sign the petition?

I believe there are several large groups of Vietnam veterans who have formed motorcycle clubs or bikers associations who can be reached online/social media - and who can strongly support this cause if you reach out to them.
Also, I'm sure you're aware that Filipinos in collective numbers are a formidable force to reckon with. This is a truly noble cause, so go for it!

Hey Leah & Blair! This is probably my first time commenting on any of your videos! I want to let you know how much your videos always inspire me, but, this video and the one before it, probably even more so. My Grandfather and several of his siblings were in WW2 & even WW1 (I think, but, will need to confirm, that my Grandfather was in your part of the world during his stint in WW2). I also have other ancestors who were in WW1.
These last two videos sent my mind back to all of them. Some of them never returned home, and, we're only now discovering some of the details of what may have happened to them (even though, in some cases, its been about 100 years since).
I can only imagine what it must be like for the family not to have anywhere they can go to remember their uncle & brother & son & father!
In my case, as i said, some of my ancestors never returned home, but, as far as I know, there are several memorials for them in various countries & cities.

Being a former sailor. The navy is notorious with getting the story wrong. They prosecuted the Captain of the USS Indianapolis plus many others.
It's an election year, so it's very important to get the congressman and senators on board to get this done. This gives them credit towards their campaigns. Hand deliver a request for help if you can.

Why is it still such a political war? Give closure for the family that never had the chance to receive their loved ones remains for burial. They gave the ultimate sacrifice and deserve to be on the wall so they can be remembered by all Americans.

They were transporting cryptologists....how can that possibly not be considered relevant to operations. It is incredibly relevant!
The fact the flight was deemed security sensitive makes it obvious it was operational. These families need their lost loved ones recognised for their service and sacrifice to their country. May they rest in peace and be held up in pride by all of us who have the freedoms we enjoy for their sacrifice ❤

My husband is still active duty Air Force we were station at andrews AFB for 8 years during that time we went to Washington DC and saw all the names that served in Vietnam war so much name in the wall and now were station here in North Carolina and would love to visit Washington DC again and hope to see his name on the wall and I think his name should be added in wall how can we sign the petition?
