I gave Danny Gatton the 1953 Fender Telecaster featured on this video. In March of 1972, Guitar Player featured my interview of Roy Buchanan. It was his first appearance in the magazine. In September of 1973, GP featured my interview of Frank Beecher of Bill Haley and the Comets. In 1972, Ellwood Brown introduced me to Danny. We’re still longtime friends. I was friends with Roy and Danny and involved in their lives, right up and until their tragic deaths. In hiring Danny for record sessions, I ended up giving him my 1953 Tele. While it had a lot of wear, it was totally stock and played beautifully. Given how difficult it was for me to find and how effortlessly it played, selling it was never a consideration. Giving it to Danny was the right thing to do. He deserved it.

I still think Down by the River by Roy B is the superior version.

Awesome, thank you! If you don’t mind I’ll put some lead over this and I’ll add a link to you in my video description 👍. Great work.
