We used to be a great team and club, it is amazing to see how the fortunes of both clubs have developed. We (CCFC) face expulsion from the EFL next month and liquidation :(
@@alanmolyneux5957 Thanks :) Yes that final was a fantastic game and showed the spirit of our club and city. It is insane that a club in a 2nd division survival fight a few years ago won promotion and are now fighting for a playoff place to the championship with no ground, no money and owners that have systematically asset stripped and destroyed the club for over a decade yet we never give up and are still churning out academy players like Callum Wilson and James Maddison. I've always had a soft spot for Liverpool since the Dagleish era and Klopp is moving the club back to domination and it is well deserved. Good luck and who knows? We may still rise from the ashes and one day we might give you another spanking :)
Bhodisatvas I hope we will be playing Liverpool more regularly soon, as it would mean that we're back in the top flight. Also, we seem to do quite well against them, considering the general strength of the two teams. I wonder if any Liverpool supporters have ever thought, when thinking of CCFC, something like "why do we struggle against these midland relegation dodgers?!"
Great days , I was in Havana, Cuba when this game took place , went out to have a few drinks to celebrate the win. What a player Huckerby and we had a decent team.Sisu Out.
While I appreciate Coventry had some good players back then - Liverpool though - what a shambles of a side they were. Not just in this game but this era. They couldn't pass a ball among one another.
2:14 that's me and my brother sitting in the front row above the word 'Liverpool' on the advertising board. What an awful game that was. I was 12 and even being that young knew our defence was pants and all needing selling!
Huckerby on his day slaughtered defenses. He is a true SkyBlue legend.
I was at that game. Coventry battered us and Huckerby was sensational. Poor Kvarme is probably still looking for him now!

I wish Coventry well. The 1987 FA Cup final you won was one of the best in my lifetime.

On a good day, Huckerby was unstoppable!

Every defender feared Huckerby. Could have won by more on that day. PUSB. Great memory.
My word Coventry had a strong side back then - not sure they wll ever get to those days. Huckerby tore Liverpool to shreds.

The beginning of the end for Roy Evans
Coventry have a good record vs Liverpool it seems.
BJØRN TORE KVARME
Worst liverpool defender I've ever seen.

Empty-Field
Terrible performance by lpool
Nazmul Slater agreed: you're a goal down against lpool at Anfield and you end up winning 3-1, either you played well or lpool did not.
