Eye In The Sky
Asia Featuring John Payne
Recollections: A Tribute To British Prog
Cardo Tunes
Such an underrated version of this amazing song. Even the great Alan Parsons co-writer of the original song Eye In The Sky has said so himself.
I can't help but feel a hint of "Only Time WIll Tell" mixed in this song, and to be honest I really loved this rendition of a marvelous song.
I have been an APP fan for almost forty years and this is an extremely true-to-the-form cover. Nice work.
That's the way a cover should be made! Asia, the first great rock band i saw almost 30 years ago!
Seriously moved. Love Alan Parsons, John Payne brings it with his strong fluid pipes ~ APPLAUSE APPLAUSE ~ BRAVO ~ ENCORE Take a another bow!
I refuse to believe this only has 75k views
It's insulting
What a cover - nothing's missing - WOW 😎
Wow, simply genius! Love it much.... Great singer, musician and wonderful person with his heart in the right place. Always!!!!!!!
Fantastic Asia covering Alan Parsons 2 of my favourite bands brilliant version.
That’s not Asia. Sorry.
@@Mr.RodrigoGomez Payne is Asia justa s much as Wetton, hell he was part of the band for way longer.
Love them both, Payne era, Wetton era, ASIA has NO bad song.
John Payne is my uncle!
Laura Payne And a very talented individual he is too !
+Laura Payne Please send him my best regards from Egypt..He is a legend!!!!
+Laura Payne Send him my best from a norwegian that really appreciate his works! :)
I really love Wetton years of Asia, but I also miss Payne days. =) Both are exceptional in my books.
You tell your Uncle I really liked his music with Asia. Who will stop the rain is a personal favorite of mine. Great Singer.
Absolutely Awesome Version John
love both ASIA JP and AP. perfect version
John Payne is an amazing person...beautiful in and out.
Howard Leese, Robin McCauley, and a disguised Doug Aldrich at the table ~ 1:05. Howard looks "thrilled," as usual.. He needs to absorb some of Doug's charisma and emotion and put it BACK into his guitar!
Belle surprise que cette cover ayant découvert l'original à sa sortie.
i think it's the best thing i'ev heard from John Payne. I'm not a fan, but he's made a wonderful job in thid cover... congratulations!
Great version!
I always like this song
That voice ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Esto es musica y de la buena
Excellent!!
Un maestro lo mejor de azia super musicos
Excelente...!
Very nice to hear John Payne again, even if it's a cover song.
IDOLO
Holy F@#K Wow does this remind me of ELO - Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Awsome song it rocks!!!!!!!!
The best tribute album 2014
yaa Great Cover to a Great Song!!
Nice cover. I like this old school sound. Only sad thing about that is that John Payne still insist on Asia name. I don't think it is a big win nowadays when the "original" Asia is producing strange, popy stuff. Omega was nice stuff, Phoenix okay, Arena was interesting and Aura highly underrated so i think it is maybe better to cut out the Asia name and let John Payne to fulfil his own original vision. They don't have to be similar to Asia, i belive that John and guys can do better in their own way under their own name. But that's just my opinion...
You got a point, but I think, with or without the Asia name, John doesn't have enough support; the new album Americana is under development hell and I haven't heard anything from GPS either.
Glad to see that at least they put out this cover album and they still perform live.
Payne should drop the Asia name. Other that that I disagree.
@@spec24 Or called "John Payne Group"
Agreed. Arena should've just stopped after the first 5 tracks. Everything else just seemed unfinished and rushed to fill an album. The first 2:10 minutes of "The Day Before the War" should've been the most metal thing Asia ever did under John Payne. ESPECIALLY the drums! But.....no. It was equalized and a little messy sounding.
Thoughts on Dukes of the Orient?
John Payne has been on more Asia albums than anyone except Downes. He has earned the right!
I love vegas💙 Have been twice so far, last year (Delano) and this year (Mirage & NYNY). El Cortez ftw
ps. this cover goes so hard
Best!!!!
Sounds awesome
Nice vid!
Nice singing John.
You have to come, John Payne, to Czech Republic! This Asia is better than original!
Interesting cover since the concept of the song came from the casino cameras in Monte Carlo when the Alan Parsons Project was recording "The Turn of a Friendly Card" album.
Truly superb. Second only to the 1995 live version from the APP themselves. I actually prefer it to the original.
❤❤
This is not ASIA, but a great effort by John Payne in his strugle for maintaining the band's rep.
Not “Original Asia”, correct?
@@LSUfan that is correct, this is Asia Featuring john payne kind of a tribute band of a replacement singer of asia.
@@Croverall Thanks!!!
John Wetton was the original and UN-surpassed voice of ASIA..
Al Hussein El Abed he was great but so is John Payne.
No AP. No Woolfson. No John Wetton, Palmer, Howe or Downes. But good version of a classic APP.
At least Alan Parsons was in the video. He has a cameo at both about 2:57 and at 3:02 And a thumbs up at 4:00.
a good cover and nothing of more.
Dude. Just be John Payne. Drop the whole Asia thing.
Why the hell is Carrot-Top turning tables insteaaaaad ... i mean cards @1:02 ??? Great cover btw ...
lmao they just made it sound more 80s than it already was
👍👏👏👏👏
I am the *eye in the sky* looking at you-o-o-o-o.., I can read your mind, I am the maker of rules... !**********
(Alan Parsons - episodic appearance)
Nice cover!
вышел ли их новый альбом?
If he got some dreds he could pass for Johnathan Davis of Korn.
This isn't bad.
But want to sing - to the tune of Who Will Stop the Rain -
Who will steal the hat?
Just stop and think about the live cameras in your daily life.
He's no Eric Woolfson, but not a bad cover. Sad that Asia is reduced to doing tribute albums and covers...
he was on family guy
Is that Robin McAuley at the gambling table?
It sure as heck looks like it. What a riot!!
Payne performed with raiding the rock vault a while back. This is the Vegas band with him.
Also Jay Schellen , incredible drummer sitting at the table.
Hmmm, very mixed feelings. It's not a "bad" cover, but it is a cover. The Parsons cameo is funny, the close harmony very good, the lead vocal interesting as most of the times, but this is NOT what I am waiting for. Now, if this efforts results in a treasure vault that helps speed up things for Americana or Amnesia or Adrenaline or whatever the new Asia feat JP album will be called, so be it. So, OK as a teaser, as an aperitivo, but can we now please have the main dish ?
turn of a friendly card
Carrot top had nothing else goin on ?
great cover but I prefer Eric Woolfson's voice.
very vanilla
Does anyone else think that John Payne tries to hold those notes too long?
Marilyn Payne Manson Zombie WTF?
If they need a singer I'll do it
Wonderful arrangement, awful lead vocal.... :-(
Agreed. I like the heavier guitars and such but I don't like the way he sings it.
Time to buy some q-tips
Oh no they didn't...... lol 😂
ASIA? Really?
Why bother doing a cover that's a 3rd rate version of the original?
no more than a cover end of the day make new music not cover a already classic song
Not the best cover.....
I mean, its okay and all, but this is not Asia. What the hell IS this? The guy looks silly. Forced "I'm a cool musician" presentation. Trying waaaay to hard, and, for Asia?? Secondly, the rendition doesn't really hand us anything the original can't offer. It's a bit..... needless? Lol. But, is this Asia?? Oy yoy yoy. Why cant people leave great legacies alone... music and film as well. Go start a new band.
Sounds like a sheep, baaa, baaa, baaa...
Except it doesn't at all.
