I think if you have so much reduction it gets capped at like 80%. You'd see a lot more patience if there was no cap.

Well what people say 80% is effective cap but it still can go above it altho it gets deminished in effectivness
But damage increase and decrese are additive (wich include even the cards damage increasing effects), so example flood has 80% damage increase and it attacks into ennemy with 100% damage reduction, that means there is still 20% of effective damage reduction(it "caps" out only after damage increase and decres was counted)
