It's basically "Woah, look at how stupid this is! Why do you losers even bother with us?"
Nick on Planet Ripple I agree. I hugely prefer Griffith. With Roger it's definitely clear he TRIED to portray Sonic accurately, but in the end, he just made Sonic sound like an oblivious smartass. He absolutely nails Sonic's energy, but I feel like with Roger, Sonic's attitude is just very non-caring. With Griffith, Sonic hit a perfect equilibrium with attitude, humility, kindness, and kept him at a sense of humor, but still made him serious enough when it counted. Now like Rad said, in the Sonic Boom cartoon, Roger was perfect for that iteration of Sonic, because the cartoon's writing and atmosphere was made mostly to be humorous. That sense of attitude for Sonic in the main series however, just doesn't fit, it seems, off. Especially in serious moments in Forces, or Generations.
Drummond and Griffith are both not that good at voicing Sonic. Every single time I hear them I always hear a tryhard, raspy 90's voice instead of something that sounds natural, like Smith's voice. I think we can all agree though that the worst Sonic voice will always be Double D's singing voice for Sonic in Sonic Underground
I've got to say, it was a true classic. The PS4 version had the most content, the Xbox version had the best graphics, and Nintendo's version came packed in with a second, smaller black screen for double the fun. Hard choice for the best version
uncle hank Tell me about it. My phone might overheat if they keep getting better, if we're flipping the same burger here. If you catch my drift. If...other things.
15:20 Well, I'll have you know that Knuckles in Adventure 1 was actually voiced by two different people because of that "Oh no" line. When the E3 trailer for Sonic Adventure was shown, Knuckles had an entirely different voice actor, which, for reasons unknown to m.e., had been almost entirely replaced by the one credited in the final release. The infamous "Oh no" line was actually said by that E3 demo VA. ruclips.net/video/7FPEtz-rC5s/видео.html Around 1:56 into this video ^ you'll hear the "Oh no" clip in its originally intended context, the first cutscene where Chaos breaks the Master Emerald and makes Angel Island fall again.
Sean Wilson Actually, it wasn't two different people. It was the same voice actor, he was just directed to sound different for the final product than he did for the E3 Demo.
This is how I would rank each of my favorite voices for each character Sonic- Ryan Drummond Tails- Colleen Villard Knuckles- Scott Drier Amy- Either Jennifer Doulliard or current Cindy Robinson Eggman- Of course Mike Pollock (Deem Bristow was really fantastic too.He was the best at making him villainous) Shadow- David Humphrey Rouge- Karen Strassmen Blaze- Both VA's sound the same, so either one does it for me Cream- Michelle Ruff Omega- John St John Espio- David Wills Vector- Carter Cathcart or Keith Silverstein Charmy - Colleen (Same as Tails)
So Charmy DOES have fans other than myself. I actually prefer Amy Birnbaum for him; he's one of the few Sonic characters for whom a purely human-sounding voice DOESN'T work, and Amy hits that sweet spot.
28:34 Well, considering Quentin Flynn voices Raiden from the Metal Hear Games, and in his own game (Metal Gear Rising) he's a cyborg ninja mercenary; I'd say that makes a lot of sense.
They probably did dirty to the Babylon Rogues because SEGA seem to care very little about them. Aside from the Riders series, Jet was a playable knight in Black Knight and then he (and Wave eventually) got some position in the Mario and Sonic games. No attempt has been made to integrate them to the main narrative. Even as someone who doesn't like them much (much, much prefer the Chaotix), I can agree they've not had the best treatment in general or in regards to voices. Especially Storm, poor Storm. PS If forgetting Vector means not having that fucking joke everyone loved to make 12 years ago, I can forgive this transgression.
I started out with Sonic via the anime and "Shadow the Hedgehog". So, to me, the 4Kids voice actors ARE the characters. Still, nice to see I'm not the only one who can't stand what they've done with at least half of the characters' voices. I'm sorry, Roger Craig Smith, but you cannot pull a Sonic.
@@theminecraft2516 I find Knuckles and Amy's new voices to be fine too. They sound largely the same, Knuckles just sounds a bit whinier and Amy sounds somewhat more mature. Also they Kept Mike Pollik as Eggman so of course he hasn't changed
I actually laughed out loud when I heard Espio speak in Generations. I was so used to the rough, gravelly voice from Heroes that Troy's smooth, milky voice caught me off guard.
Reminder that Roger does the voiceover for for "Say Yes To The Dress." Also I'm fairly certain Big had a different VA for Lego Dimensions and considering that was his first major appearance in any Sonic media in ages, I'm surprised you glossed over it.
“Say Yes To The Dress” is not a line from a Sonic game. In fact, it has nothing to do with Sonic at all. It’s a reality TV show where a bunch of girls basically pick out wedding dresses. I bring it up because Roger Craig Smith, the current voice of Sonic, happens to do the voiceovers for the show. I just thought it was an interesting bit of information people would find funny or interesting, but then idiots like you show up and ruin everyone else’s fun.
Yes, because I have a life and don’t constantly spend my time on RUclips, which judging by your last comment, sounds like something you probably do. You were the one who decided to incite this argument when I not once confronted or argued with you. Only after you continued to disrespect and insult me did I call you out on your bullshit. Please get off RUclips and do something productive for once.
i really wish they just got griffith back for the games and go back to the style of unleashed (cut back on the power of friendship bullshit pls), but leave roger for the sonic boom tv show where he's at his best (let's be honest, their voices aren't _that_ much different when they're doing sonic) i do like ryan drummond, don't get me wrong, but he was more fitting for the dreamcast-era sonic, not the modern-era one
If there's one thing from the Sonic fandom I can recomend to anyone, it would be Sonic and Tails R, created by EmiJones. It not only has great writing, but Emi got several fan favorite voice actors to reprise their roles! Examples being Ryan Drummond as Sonic, Lisa Ortiz as Amy, and Jason Griffin as Shadow! The only only exception being Tails, who's voiced by Emi herself. Some people call it pure fan service, most call it a love letter to Sonic fans everywhere
14:47 Its small jokes like that, quick unexpected ones without dragging them out, that make me love your work RadicalSoda. ^_^ Also, David Humphrey was indeed perfect. One thing that I missed was Shadow's cocky confidence that Griffith lacked. Kirk Thorton brought it back, but as much as I love that voice actor, I feel he hasn't figured out how to voice Shadow just right yet. But as you said Forces he's getting closer.
I believe your favourite Sonic truly depends on what games you grew up with for obvious reasons. I love Griffith in Black Knight and Unleashed. He says too much corny shit in 06 but he's always been the cocky "I'm sonic!" who loves fun but gets serious about his friends and his duties as a hero. I grew up on Heroes at young and then the games past it SO Griffith IS Sonic to me but I understand why others think Ryan and why even younger people think Roger (People who played Colours as kids, I've seen those a lot that love Roger.) In the end, they all embody different aspects of Sonic. I love Jason's more dramatic side despite the usually dumb sonic plots. I'm a person who actually enjoys the 06 plot, despite glaring plotholes that are there just because. Secret Rings and his Darkspine anger, the way him and Caliburn gel so well together creating a great dynamic that develops from "...You oversized letter opener!" And "Knave The Hedgehog" to "My trusty sword" (OR him quoting Caliburn in the finale.) and "Sir Sonic, Knight of the Wind.". Hell, even "NOW I'LL SHOW YOU!" and "You're too slow!" are great imo. Long ass 2 AM Griffith rant over.
Just to think the last impactful line Griffith had as Sonic was insight on living life to the fullest in the time we have. And then Crush 40 further elaborating on that, when that was the last time they made an appearance. Sonic Black Knight is a special game.
I personally feel that Jason Griffith was the ideal modern Sonic. Mostly because Griffith’s voice matched the more mature Sonic we got during those games. It felt like Sonic had grown throughout his adventures. He wasn’t the impatient kid he was in classic depictions, and he had relaxed after the adventure era. He was still confident and a jokester(example A: Him taunting Eggman throughout Unleashed), but he was also capable of being mature and reassuring, especially during Unleashed and the story book games. Griffith made him feel like the hero he is, without being obnoxious like more recent games. I also think Griffith was the ideal Shadow, capable of capturing his edginess without being annoying about it. Still, he was more than capable of being more antagonistic, especially in Sonic X.

Drummond (Even through I prefer his Sonic voice) = Griffith >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Smith.
Nick on Planet Ripple hwhoaooo-!
Nick on Planet Ripple I don't know. I like Roger's Sonic better than Jason's Sonic.
Suprisingly, Movie Sonic is the closest we’ve ever gotten to Ryan Drummond’s sonic. It’s the best voice we’ve had in a while
I wish Jet was the main character in the Secret rings,
It would’ve fit nicely giving his Arabian background.
Imagine using the magic carpet as an Extreme Gear.
"Turned Off Tv" one of my favorite games!
Just staring into the darkness, OOOoOohh
You like Sonic 06?
I've got to say, it was a true classic. The PS4 version had the most content, the Xbox version had the best graphics, and Nintendo's version came packed in with a second, smaller black screen for double the fun. Hard choice for the best version
Any updates about the PC version? The suspense is killing me!

OH MY GOOOOOD THAT WONDERFUL THUMBNAIL
I think Ryan Drummond is the only voice actor that perfectly captures Sonic's character.
Travis Willingham is also a sweetheart in real life.
15:20
Well, I'll have you know that Knuckles in Adventure 1 was actually voiced by two different people because of that "Oh no" line.
When the E3 trailer for Sonic Adventure was shown, Knuckles had an entirely different voice actor, which, for reasons unknown to m.e., had been almost entirely replaced by the one credited in the final release. The infamous "Oh no" line was actually said by that E3 demo VA.
ruclips.net/video/7FPEtz-rC5s/видео.html
Around 1:56 into this video ^ you'll hear the "Oh no" clip in its originally intended context, the first cutscene where Chaos breaks the Master Emerald and makes Angel Island fall again.
That’s.... actually really interesting! I never knew that!
mindblown
Sean Wilson
Actually, it wasn't two different people. It was the same voice actor, he was just directed to sound different for the final product than he did for the E3 Demo.
This is how I would rank each of my favorite voices for each character
Sonic- Ryan Drummond
Tails- Colleen Villard
Knuckles- Scott Drier
Amy- Either Jennifer Doulliard or current Cindy Robinson
Eggman- Of course Mike Pollock (Deem Bristow was really fantastic too.He was the best at making him villainous)
Shadow- David Humphrey
Rouge- Karen Strassmen
Blaze- Both VA's sound the same, so either one does it for me
Cream- Michelle Ruff
Omega- John St John
Espio- David Wills
Vector- Carter Cathcart or Keith Silverstein
Charmy - Colleen (Same as Tails)
So Charmy DOES have fans other than myself. I actually prefer Amy Birnbaum for him; he's one of the few Sonic characters for whom a purely human-sounding voice DOESN'T work, and Amy hits that sweet spot.
Robotnik- Long John Baldry.
Good taste.

*I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED THAT*
I started out with Sonic via the anime and "Shadow the Hedgehog". So, to me, the 4Kids voice actors ARE the characters. Still, nice to see I'm not the only one who can't stand what they've done with at least half of the characters' voices. I'm sorry, Roger Craig Smith, but you cannot pull a Sonic.
The only good current ones are Tails and Eggman
@@theminecraft2516 I find Knuckles and Amy's new voices to be fine too. They sound largely the same, Knuckles just sounds a bit whinier and Amy sounds somewhat more mature. Also they Kept Mike Pollik as Eggman so of course he hasn't changed
@@chrismanning2888 Maybe Amy sounds a bit too mature considering she is twelve and the new voice makes her sound like she’s 40
I actually laughed out loud when I heard Espio speak in Generations. I was so used to the rough, gravelly voice from Heroes that Troy's smooth, milky voice caught me off guard.
Reminder that Roger does the voiceover for for "Say Yes To The Dress."
Also I'm fairly certain Big had a different VA for Lego Dimensions and considering that was his first major appearance in any Sonic media in ages, I'm surprised you glossed over it.
Me and ten people, apparently.
What are you even talking about? I didn’t say any lines whatsoever.
God you must be fun at parties. /s
This is why cast consistency IS IMPORTANT
14:32 my EXACT same reaction when I found out that out
That is quite the artwork, there. Seriously, I’m impressed
i really wish they just got griffith back for the games and go back to the style of unleashed (cut back on the power of friendship bullshit pls), but leave roger for the sonic boom tv show where he's at his best (let's be honest, their voices aren't _that_ much different when they're doing sonic)
i do like ryan drummond, don't get me wrong, but he was more fitting for the dreamcast-era sonic, not the modern-era one
But if Jason Griffith was in Colours he'd have to do the line "*BaLdY nOsEhAiR*"
The Adventure voice cast will always and forever be the best voice cast for the Sonic franchise. Especially Ryan Drummond as the voice of Sonic.
Scott Dreier as Knuckles David Humphrey as Shadow as well!

14:47
Its small jokes like that, quick unexpected ones without dragging them out, that make me love your work RadicalSoda. ^_^
Also, David Humphrey was indeed perfect. One thing that I missed was Shadow's cocky confidence that Griffith lacked. Kirk Thorton brought it back, but as much as I love that voice actor, I feel he hasn't figured out how to voice Shadow just right yet. But as you said Forces he's getting closer.
Now that Roger and the bad writers are gone...
I'm actually really happy and optimistic.

omg the face you made when stealing the cash is meme-worthy XD
I believe your favourite Sonic truly depends on what games you grew up with for obvious reasons. I love Griffith in Black Knight and Unleashed. He says too much corny shit in 06 but he's always been the cocky "I'm sonic!" who loves fun but gets serious about his friends and his duties as a hero. I grew up on Heroes at young and then the games past it SO Griffith IS Sonic to me but I understand why others think Ryan and why even younger people think Roger (People who played Colours as kids, I've seen those a lot that love Roger.)
In the end, they all embody different aspects of Sonic.
19:34
Amy: Maybe you should try breaking that...
Shadow: *breaks it*
Amy: You shouldn't break things like that...
Shadow: this can be...
Wat????
23:37 Maybe Omega got obsolete... Hard to imagine, huh XD
I just miss Heroes' Omega
Fan fact: Omega in forces is voiced by Broly from DBZ and modern Bubsy.
Broly? Well then, now I wanna hear Omega say "I will bathe in your blood!"
I think that was his only role in Sonic sadly. Vic _has_ been sadly through a lot and it's best we leave it at that.
I actually really miss Griffith
Same he should be voicing modern sonic still
Nah. Bring back Drummond boi
R.I.P Werehog.. *NAH, JUST KIDDIN!' HAPPY ALMOST 10TH ANNIVERSARY, SONIC UNLEASHED!*
Just to think the last impactful line Griffith had as Sonic was insight on living life to the fullest in the time we have. And then Crush 40 further elaborating on that, when that was the last time they made an appearance. Sonic Black Knight is a special game.
Well, fuck. Now I'm sad.
I preffer Jason Griffith over Roger Craig Smith
doesn't everyone
No ^
Some guy told me Roger is the best and jason was never good.
I guess we all have different tastes
Nintendotank at least he did's say "BALDY NOSEHAIR"
Jason's voice is exactly what I think when I see Sonic, but Ryan's is dam close.
Lol isn’t Kyle Hebert the voice actor for Adult Gohan? He voiced Big?!
He also voiced the narrator
Daniel Otisi Hes also the narrator of DBZ and Kakyoin in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
He also voiced Kiba from Naruto.
No, he's DUKE FUCKIN' NUKEM!
He's also Ryu in Street Fighter and Smash 4.
On this episode of RadicalSoda:RadicalSoda advertises a place to get groomed
