    I'm back with a heavily requested video about SHEET MUSIC and going electronic/paperless! I shifted over to using an iPad Pro for my sheet music since December 2021 and it's been an awesome experience being able to not only save paper, but also have everything in one place whilst being able to turn pages with my foot - absolute game changer 😳 hope this video helps you if you're deciding to make the change!
    And once again thank you to Soundbrenner for sending me their STOMP pedal to check out - I absolutely love it!

    I guess it would be good to have a backup tablet nearby when performing and a back up pedal. I have a back up guitar as strings can break at any time.

    This actually seems to be what a lot of artist I’ve seen recent start to switch to, I know some of my techs have tablets with full scores whenever we are doing marching clinics instead of the various pages. I think the funniest thing I’ve seen in regards to the surplus of paper for a piece is As One’s score. Two of my friends recently performed it and they taped 4 pages of music to one side of cardboard and the rest of the pages on the backside and halfway through their performance they had to flip around the cardboard 😂 This will definitely make music reading easier.

      Oh yes I did the cardboard flip thing too for pieces like 8 on 3 and 9 on 2 haha, loses its novelty after a while 😅

    Great video on how to go paperless. I wanted to get a new iPad Air 13” for holding my sheet music but the cost is $800. Although I’d like to have this Air for other things as well, it’s still a pretty expensive option. So I looked on Amazon and found a 14” flat monitor that I can plug into my current 10.9” iPad Air. Cost is only $65. It works great with forScore. Yes I now have two things to carry but I can use my 14” monitor at home and take my iPad to lessons. Both fit comfortably on my music stand.

      Ok, ok, ok. No tea no shade. I just had to make the pun. I'll take my leave.
      But before I do that, I will say that electronic sheet music does get a lot of mileage frfr. I personally don't use it myself; I tend to use my ear and my memory (just break it down into "simple" progressions and patterns, practice em so that your muscles remember em just in case _you_ don't, then you're off to the races). But I know folks who got hella mileage off of sheetless sheet music. Lol.
      Mike Malone is an awesome RUclipsr and professional drummer who has his iPad at the ready, since he has so many gigs and so many charts. So I can't knock mans at all frfr.
      Granted, I'm always sheetless, but still.

    Great video! Now for people like me who are ALWAYS worried about battery failure, as mentioned you do not always have the option of being plugged in to a charger…what I do and recommend is using a powerbank connected to your iPad, that way there is no worries at all and no plugging into a wall needed…just a cable between your powerbank and your iPad. The beauty is you can have your Powerbank velcro’d, or 3M stuck or simply placed beside your iPad with no wires in your way or on the ground etc etc…options are endless!

    Thanks to this video, I have made the move to paperless sheet music! My life is much easier because now I conduct my school choir, teach my elementary music classes, and play in my ensemble all from my iPad! Thank you so much for making the transition clear and easy. And for the discount on my Soundbrenner Stomp!

    This is really neat and extremely helpful. I am only at 17 minutes and will wait to see if some questions will yet be answered.. but I had one now.. on the peddle .. If I am recording with a mic and the peddle is pushed I'd get clicking .. I am assuming such... silent Pendle would be neat.

    I've been acquiring more and more sheet music mostly off imslp for a couple years now and have been naturally getting less organized and so I've been leaning towards getting an ipad with pedals for turning sheet music, but I'm curious about people's experience with using it for outdoor gigs (particularly in very warm weather) and risk of it overheating and how quickly.

    I would like to see you demonstrate playing using this page turner pedal. My hesitancy up to this point has been that my marimba (and yours since we both have the Izzy) is 2.5 meters long, and as one is moving up and down the instrument, what if the pedal can't be easily reached? For stationary players, this pedal is great (I have seen it used by players in my Orchestra), but for someone whose feet are constantly on the go, this pedal seems risky or difficult to use.

    Great video full of all the info I need to change to digital (you think you've got a lot of sheet music - I've got some inherited from 100 years ago!). I was going to buy a cheap scanner but you said ForScore has the ability to take a photo and convert to pdf: does that this mean each page is a separate pdf and if so, how do you combine them?

    Can forscore handle repeats, coda’s, etc that jump around to different pages?
    Great video! Thanks

    •  9 месяцев назад +1

      Well, sort of. You can add links and anchors in annotations for that. If you tap a link it will jump to wherever the repeat coda etc is. But you have to add them yourself and I have no idea if it works with the pedal (but probably not)

    • @jglover30
      @jglover30 12 дней назад +1

      It's best to duplicate pages for repeats and codas in forScore so that you only have to scroll right.

    • @rutledgeleland2538
      @rutledgeleland2538 9 месяцев назад

      the only advantage of cellular is that if you have an iPad with lots of sheet music data stored in cloud or need the internet to access your music or notes you would be out of luck without wifi / I often play outdoor weddings where there is none but I guess you could make sure that you have hard downloaded you music for that specific performance and be fine, unless a request you don't have stored arises

    You said if you play violin, a small tablet is fine. Then you said it won't work for percussionists and showed a PAGANINI score. Definitely, it's not suitable for violinists either. All solo repertoire is meant to be played standing up.
