Good post, can you make recommendations for good gravel or hybrid bikes to start with that can be upgraded broken out by price range. For example what’s good in the sub 1k range for gravel or hybrid bike?
@@duketran6093best choice to go for the sl6 RIMbrake. Its the best tarmac made. Beside that, you will have way less trouble servicing your own bike and its more convenient too traveling with the bike. If you're not riding in the rain a lot, rimbrakes still are the best pick overall.
I'm not going to comment about what you bought, because- dammit, I'm jealous and I wish I could do that. My question is WHY did you buy what you did?? Why a Specialized over the many bikes that you had access to at Bike House? Why the SL7? WHY the components? Is there a tactical advantage to the ceramics or is it more of a personal preference (sounded like a preference and curiosity, ,but am unsure.)? Does your body type fit this frame best and did you get a good bike fit from a real fitter and that's what was recommended? Is it a dream build? Are you going to try to be more competitive before you hit your 40's and everything goes to crap (I'm 53)? Curious as to the WHY rather than the WHAT. Thanks, nice build video. I need to get a new bike. After 14 years on the same one, it's time.
That you for your comment. I will be doing a review video on the bike after I get a few more miles on. In that with your recommendation I will spend some time on the “why”.
Hey CV, How do you like the new bike? I am in the process of ordering a new bike as well and it will have SRAM AXS e--shifting as well as disc brakes, both new to me as well. Any thoughts or things to be aware of? Again, great video. I enjoy your channel.
Interesting to see you put an Eagle chain on the bike. I am interested to see if that works, I thought for the AXS RD and CR you needed to use a flat top chain.
Steve I thought the same thing. I asked the head tech the day of and he said it shifts fine. Took his word for it and of course it works perfect! I will add it needed one ride to "break in" was just a bit loud when cross chaining until I had about 30miles on it.
Get riding dude! I wanted an Allez Sprint after seeing your videos with it a while ago, finally got ahold of one from Jake S who said he used to ride with Bicycle Haus.
Great set up nice one mate, What is the weight in the end? And yep deff keen on comparing the tarmac and allez Got a 6 sworks disc myself so good to hear your take on those rigs also cheers
Tubeless sealant also works much better at lower pressures. My ENVE AR 4.5s are run at 51 PSI per ENVE’s recommendation based on my weight and tire width.
I keep going lower and lower PSI. Currently also around 50-60 psi. With the extra volume in the tire the lower PSI will actually be more firm than a 23/25 (with tube) at 100 PSI. And faster. Also, IMO Specialized makes poor tubeless tires (turbo cottons are great BTW, just no good tubeless options). If you do swap out I’d recommend GP5K or Victoria Corsa (depending on if you want better longevity or more for racing. In my experience GP5K is the best for mounting with standard track pump)
@@CyclingVirgin I ended up having to buy a bleed kit for the disc brakes saving me having to go into a store allowing me to do my own service I found breaks problematic when you do over 300 k’s a week little issues pop up they are a little bit more maintenance than the old rim brakes glad you love your new bike have plenty of fun 😊👍
I agree. I worked on them for years before owning. It seems like once you get them dialed they are good for a long time but they can be fussy to get them there. Thank you! Be safe!
I have a satin carbon SL4 that a friend cut vinyl for (cricut machine) and used gold auto vinyl about 2yrs ago. Kept thinking by now I'd remove it but cannot come to grips with abandoning the black gold look, love it too much! Nice build RG, thanks for the story (and for ditching the mask every chance you had!!!)
I'm envy how you just pick your frame your groupset just like that. Like damn I'd be thinking 100 times to buy WD40 for my bike HAHAHAHAH . Good stuff bro !!
Forget the Ceramicspeed bearings. Over 75% of bearing drag comes from the seals and grease alone. Whether the balls are ceramic or steel is virtually meaningless, with steel bearings coming on top for friction and longevity. Ceramic bearings in bicycles are not fully ceramic, only the balls are ceramic while the bearing races are hardened steel. This is a problem because the ceramic is harder than steel, and as a result the ceramic balls will wear a groove into the steel race. This will lead to an increase in friction with continued usage, whereas a quality steel bearing will retain the same low friction up until the point of failure. A pair of NTN bearings, which can be bought for ~$50 for 6805 bearings, will vastly outperform and outlive anything from Ceramicspeed. 7 pairs of the highest quality bearings money can buy, or 1 ceramicspeed bottom bracket. Choice seems obvious to me.
@@CyclingVirgin Because it was overall a way better bike, it was light (sworks instead of specialized, rim brake), it had Shimano and not Sram (personnal preference, but those hydro levers are beyond ugly and not comfortable compared to Shimano DI2 levers), and you could not have spend the money on the Allez Sprint (idk why you bought this bike) and then on the SL7 which is as heavy for probably twice the price !
@@CyclingVirgin No but i have tried both back to back and the Sworks SL6 felt way faster/stiffer than the Sworks SL7 ! (both had Dura Ace DI2, the SL6 was rim brakes, the SL7 was 600grams heavier, both bikes tires pumped up to 6.5bars)
So you haven’t owned both bikes and put a good amount of miles on them? (and no taking them on a test ride around a bike shop doesn't count for anything) Because if you have no actual first hand experience with all of the components of these two bicycles no one, no one gives a shit what you think or what you are able to regurgitate from someone else’s review that you watched or read on Reddit. If you want to give your opinions on my channel I’m fine with it but only do so if you yourself have the experience.
@@CyclingVirgin You seem a little mad, you do what you want with your money, i say what i want with my mouth, like or not 🙂 I might have no long term experience on both bikes but you don't seem to have any experience outside of Specialized. Now go ride your SL7 and sell it when the SL8 releases 👌 You just a Specialized fanboy who would buy anything new from them 🙃 Btw if you get trigger this easily maybe you should stop internet 🙂
Beautiful build. Congrats! I love the stealth look of the bike. Excellent choice on components.
Thank you kindly!
So glad to see you back in action !
😊
So glad to have you back in my youtube feed! One of the reasons i paid the extra for a Specialized was your content
Thanks Tom its good to be back in the saddle!
Amico new Videos ????
As much as I love Tucson, you’re not kidding... those roads are challenging in some areas... bike looks 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That black and gold is SWEET!
Bro, if I lived anywhere near that shop I'd be soo broke. Great vid, glad to see you back.
LOL its hard not to walk out of there with out something! Their clothing selection is crazy!
IM SOLD, been trying to find a SCOTT bike for the last 2 months and they have multiple options. Buying a flight to that store for this weekend.
Give the guys a ring and put one on hold!
What SL7 frame colour is that?
Sweet color and builds
hi, can the store ship a bike to Trinidad and Tobago?
Beauty bike build. Very much enjoyed the video. Looking forward to your review of your new bike.
This is an amazing shop. Cool video.
why not s-works? Thought this black and gold paint is abosolutely amazing!
Nice bike. I prefer those bars to the Aero version.
Thank you!

Fantastic Build!
I'm glad you like it, thanks for watching Ryan!
What does it weigh? I’m guessing 7.8 kg
Its a proper gravelbike.
I had the tarmac disc sl 6 it was sluggish an heavy only kept it for 6 months went bk to r brake
If you could choose 1 bike between the SW SL6 Ultra and the SL7 Pro what would you get and why.
Thank you
Duke
I would take the SL7. I couldn’t live without disc brakes now after riding them for so long.
@@CyclingVirgin Thank you, I’ve just been offered for near new ultra frameset. Thanks again

i Need a update on your tire pressure for your weight an size? plus talk about this bike and the new SL8?
Second ride on the SL8 tomorrow morning. You know me I like to fully understand the product before I talk about it.
Hi there, tubeless on roval rapide? Not the new rapides, which is not tubeless ready?
They are not the new Rapides. Just a cl50 👍🏻

Hey CV can you do a video on a few good routes in Tucson. Besides MT Lemmon.
Yeah let me see what I can do, TBH I haven't explored to many of the rides yet but soon! Be sure to follow my Strava and you can see where I'm riding!
How do they have so much stock?! Everywhere I look the SL7's are sold out.
Is that a 2022 sl7 model or it's just customized color bike? Cause I've never seen those color before.. Awesome looking bike🔥

Who’s the song by?
How you get the gold specialized name on that frame. Nice
Wondering the same looks sweet but looks like it may have been overlaid over there he stock white logo.
Tubeless sealant also works much better at lower pressures. My ENVE AR 4.5s are run at 51 PSI per ENVE’s recommendation based on my weight and tire width.

That's a nice shop! And your bike is sweet as.
Now Shimano is wireless only have to run break hoses
Interested to see the weight of both bikes
I will get that in the comparison vid. I don't think the Allez weighs much more if any to be honest.
Great looking bike 👍wish you all the best when it comes to the disc brakes though.
So far they are my favorite part of the new bike 👍🏻

I would go with Kogel over ceramic speed
black n gold, sharp looking!
Thank you!
gold specialized lettering??? howww
Is that a stock frame or you change the color of lettering?
Bicycle Haus has a guy that does custom vinyl. He does such a good job sometimes the edges look cleaner than the factory paint!

Thanks Keith!
Those wheels aren’t tubeless compatible i don’t think
Thanks for the concern my dude but they are tubeless 2bliss Ready. However you must change the rims strips for a tubeless tape.
Really a incredible build and bicycle.
