When someone says "Haha DJs got no talent. They only push the play button bla bla", show them this. I bet they will start crying after seeing 3 or 4 decks are online at the same time. Chris is the man.
Bro... I make Dj-ing since 1996-97. The real Shit, with Vinyl. Not that modern Auto-Sync-Computer-Bullshit. And i Play Elektro Guitar to. And belive me... Dj-ing is NOTHING compared to Play an Instrument. Dj-ing is maybe not that easy like some People think. But Play an Instrument is a COMPLETTE differend League. If you have a good Teacher/Mentor. You can mix Vinyls after ... maybe 2 weeks. To Play a Guitar you Need Minimum 2 Years. And even than, you are not good. You are just Abele to Play a few Songs.
Karl S. I guess we both agree that using the sync button takes away the fun of mixing. But if you're gonna play a live-set using ableton/multiple decks, the sync button helps a lot as it makes sure that your tracks/samples/STEMs are tight and in time. That way, you can concentrate more on creating great sounds on stage.
+Al Bundy, the technology is here to help the artists out, not because it's easier, lol. if you're a shit DJ on Vinyl you won't be suddenly good with CDJs just because they have more features and are overall more reliable than turntables...
No other DJ has inspired me as much as Chris when it comes to gear and strategy of gigs. Like some others have said here in the comments, this is a video I re-visit from time to time... Great guy!
Added beat creations while playing sets are so amazing. I've learned so much about me and my abilities. There's nothing like sharing your talent with the world. Your audience love it. Keep up the good work.
this is so inspiring! Even I'm doing different music it's just awesome to see someone putting that much efford on creating a unique experience for the audience. I remember seeing the videostream of his Set at Tomorrowland some years ago - so many people left the stage .... they just don't know whats good...
I have to say , this was the most amazing advise that was given ... I really respect you as a dj and a producer .... rock on .... from a humble guy ...
Awesome break down of his set up. I am currently working with Traktor S4, F1 and Maschine and this gave me lots of good ideas on how to not overload myself with the possibilities. Thanks for the video!
I loved when were Chris Liebing spinning technics and proper 'bang-bang' tech sets, the music that he has been presenting last years just goes around me... BUT... HE FCKIN' KNOWS WHAT HE DOES... and that's why I respect him. Respect!
Chris presents his knowledge in a way, which is comprehensible though we belong to the generation of Technics & Vinyl. A very interesting introduction, how a set works today and the overview of the technical components and effects. We were quite surprised that even for Chris it is not possible to replay a special sound, so creating will go on. Thanks for "teaching" and the good vibes!
Chris Liebing always comes across as a top bloke! Great to get an insight into his setup, I was thinking about getting some K2's for 4 deck control! SOLD!
This man rocks! Completely forges his own path. He started when the only option was Vinyl, was amazing with that, & rather than bitching & dismissing the tech, he's embracing it and having fun being uniquely creative & trying new things.Very inspiring, and good of him to show us what's going on!Music is about self expression and FUN,and we all have our own individual ideas of what is fun for us & enjoy our own things. Keep rocking Liebing! :D
It was him and Väth that made me want to learn how to DJ. that was 12 years ago. im not a professional and do it only for my own pleasure. but i love it. and if you are interested into DJing - its never too late, play around and find your own way.
in a way/to some extent, he's not just replacing records but tracks themselves, which is interesting from a commercial standpoint because if taken to a full extent, the selling point would be entirely different. going to hear a person play improv(-isational) electornic music (tribal need is also kindof an example of this, more of a street/on th
Hey mate,I'm a turntable DJ just like u,and I love djing with my 2 turntables and my mixer but when I started producing some stuff with Ableton I found out that even ''live remixing and performing'' is quite funny, because you can make a unique sound and that's great! Maybe you're right, this is not DJing,it's performing, but after several years on vinyls, you start feeling some kind of interest for new devices,it's just evolution. The product is the most important thing, and CL gives a great one :)
Chris,du hast die richtige Einstellung.:-) würde gerne mal mit dir arbeiten!Vielleicht treffen wir uns mal,auf irgend einem Event?Mach weiter so, und bleib wie du bist, alles gute Dj tommcat
I use pretty much the same setup with maschine, but runnning as Standalone. If i'd use it inside of ableton, how would I go in order to output effects to my sends and returns on my mixer? it would be actually really helpful, having a reverb on my mixer, that way i'd have one more effect on my controller. Plus, I really dont like traktor's reverb, id love to use my Lexicon... anybody?
Love this DJ, love this setup; But Why do I see a soundcard Audio 10 (NI) while he says it's RME fireface UC? maybe I'm wrong but I don't get it... If someone can explain...
Considering Chris has been in the techno-scene for such a long time, he was playing with vinyl for a very very very very long time and probably is still able to do so. This set up just takes it to a higher level. Gotta look at it as if it is an addition, not a replacement.
Techno is like jazz. Its all about improvising and making new music out of your existing music collection. Don't say its not that technical. He has one of the top 5 most technical DJ setups out of all of the top DJs in the world.
He's one of the true, last, orginal, f****ing Techno Gods out there
You guys bring the best content for DJ's. Thanks so much! I've learned so much.
When someone says "Haha DJs got no talent. They only push the play button bla bla", show them this.
I bet they will start crying after seeing 3 or 4 decks are online at the same time. Chris is the man.
To be fair, there is DJing, and then there is Chris Liebing.
Bro... I make Dj-ing since 1996-97.

DJing isn't just about mixing two beats together. You don't know what you're talking about. Did you even watch the video?

I watch this way too often haha
Added beat creations while playing sets are so amazing. I've learned so much about me and my abilities. There's nothing like sharing your talent with the world. Your audience love it. Keep up the good work.

I remember seeing the videostream of his Set at Tomorrowland some years ago - so many people left the stage .... they just don't know whats good...
A true humble dj. Good.
Chris Liebing role model.
In business for decades, embraces new technology and exploites it in his own way and still stays Mr. Nice Guy :-)

This has a good bit of insight as to how he goes about using all of the hardware and software while keeping things simple. Props!

Wow, so much has changed since the 90's when I DJ'd.
Alex G wow What style were you playing
Definitely the future of deejaying, remixing the original tracks on the fly !
People, just be nice.
This is a great interview, very technical, with an even greater artist. Focus on that, not on trolling and feeding trolls!
good job thank you for support
CDJ as laptop-stand :D Now we are talking, lovely interview btw - very useful!
i mean ok, he may be good (I dont know him) but you do not put things onto the jogwheels, it slightly damages the ball bearings
Excelente!! Estoy tan de acuerdo en todo! :D
I just adore this guy! What an inspiration. .. I watch this video everytime I record a set n it sucks haha ..
I don't understand anythin of the technical stuff he's talkin about but it's awesome to watch!

Good inspiration about the way how it works.
that is very impressive, Chris Liebing is a Maschine!
So Awesome!
Great walk through!
Great Artist 🖤🚀
Very impressive. He is one of the very very few using digital technologies not just as a replacement for records, but to actually dj differently.
in a way/to some extent, he's not just replacing records but tracks themselves, which is interesting from a commercial standpoint because if taken to a full extent, the selling point would be entirely different. going to hear a person play improv(-isational) electornic music (tribal need is also kindof an example of this, more of a street/on th

It's always good to learn from the pros
seemed like a thoroughly nice bloke to me and shared his way of working with us.
Amazing video
Chris Liebing. German Techno as its best since 20 years.
Holy shit what a cool set up!
