    I am watching this video a year after you posted it. One year can bring a lot of knowledge when growing cactus. The thing I want to mention is the soil. After I purchase a cactus plant, I will give it a few days to dry and then transplant into my own soil mixture. I try to remove the old soil, very carefully. Most plants that I aquire are planted in a peat mixture that I prefer to get rid of asap. When in my own soil, I am better able to gage when to next water my plant. Also, since I live in a colder climate, most everything is planted in a clay pot. I'd rather have them dry too long than be wet. In So. Cal you have to be the judge. Thanks for your videos from the Cactus and Succulent Shows!

      Hi Janis. I totally agree with your opinion on soil. Have to be really careful with cacti not to overwater them.

    Nice collection of cacti. Your Copiapoa are cool, I got a Montana? I think it is anyway, for only $15AUD from an elderly bloke from a private sale recently. It is old, and has a gnarly old base too with some pups on top. He had some big old cacti he had grown for 30 and 40 years. Way cool too see.

    Hi, your Echinopsis at 10:45 is almost certainly a Echidnopsis cereiformis. (Member of the Asclepiadaceae family….). Nice video!
    Regards, Johan….

    Nice collection. Pretty sure the peanut cactus is something like Euphorbia mammillaris, but I don't know my Euphorbias that well. A couple of my friends have been growing Ceropegia stapeliiformis outside for a while. One friend is in Lakewood and the other is near Culver City. A 3rd friend (in Eagle Rock) recently purchased it from the Huntington and I split it for her. Put one division on moss on her avocado tree, and one in mostly pumice in a hanging basket, and can't remember what I did with the 3rd piece. Not putting all your eggs in one basket is the #1 plant rule.

    How do you take care of your golden globe? Light, temp., & watering?

    • @fotosynthelys6763
      @fotosynthelys6763  3 года назад

      Hi! Thanks for your question. Light, temperature and watering all depend on your location. For me, I live in the southwest U.S. so mine is in an eastern sun exposure (nice morning light and strong early afternoon light). I water when the soil is completely dry all the way through (every 2-3 weeks). And temperatures here range from 40 degrees F, to triple digit heat. But overall average 70-80+ degreesF. Hope this helps

    10:43 is a Euphorbia. Looks similar to a submammillaris but it doesn't seem like it. A peanut cactus wouldnt cork like that.

    that obesa is not 100% an obesa its slightly got a polygona in it. hence the pronounced ribs. (both of the round copiapoas kinda look poached imo esp the black areoles(which only come in natural habitat as alges grow inside due to humidity ) )

  • @carlosmaldonado7397

    Your plants need to have the ph checked in the water and a little fertilizer won't hurt
