Man u a beast for real.... What I like the most about this guy is he plays along with a lot of challenge ass beats.... Uncomfortable type can't get the rythem type jams....👍👍👍
WOW..Great technique and musicality. Maison is a total beast and a definite inspiration of where serious practice can get you. Love the drumnastics and video. WOW!!
Thanks Enoch...Maison asked me to shoot for him, so the zoom and him sending me the tracks made the edit easy...the camera mic was peaking cause Maison hits hard.
I slept thinking it was gonna be your typical shed video. But THIS guy! smh. Amazing feel and use of rudiments. Like his style and the tracks are amazing!
After watching this hella times over the last 7 years, it was right around 14:20 I (and this is just me) realized this dude is all together, not mention his energy, in the likeness of Fred Boswell Jr. minus the dreads and random screaming lmao
Ridiculous playing - immense passion '). Funny about hi-hat shafts - smooth as... Wonder if it's a deliberate (inbuilt obsolescence) ploy by drum hardware manufacturers to sell MORE hi-hat clutches?.... Just thinkin'...
This guy is a BEAST. Powerful and precise. He did some singles in there where I rewound several times and rewatched. Believe me, what I’m about to say is not being negative just for the sake of negativity because this kid is incredible. But the amount of notes! Way way way too many notes. Ungodly amount of notes. It becomes unmusical. I heard very very little music being made in there. This is constructive criticism not hating at all... cause this kid has skills. When will we get away from the awe of chops?!? When will someone realize, we know you can play, so now let’s make music. At the end of the day all of those notes just get you kicked off of a gig and/or ruin a recording. All I’m asking is... when will this trend come to an end? This type of playing Is only for other drummers. Regular people who want to hear music being made would shut this off quickly. When will drummers return to music? But again... what a technician. This kid makes Vinny and Dennis seem slow. I guess you young guys would consider those two guys old timers. But they were the fastest of their time. Amazing how much more speed these young guys have. Only thing is... Vinny is a musician.
You should watch more Maisons videos, he is one of the forward thinking musicians. His musicality is top for me, not just for his power and precision, but his taste and musical fantasy are out of rhis world.
Id call that solo a Hot Mess. Does everybody automatically do solos everytime they play in church? Oh yeah its called gospel chop or unemploymend drummer cause nobody is gonna hire soneone who solos in every song.
Yeah I understand you. However, do you know what a shed is and who mason guidry is? A shed is literally when drummers come together and play together, so they usually do alot of chops as a workout type thing. Also mason is a globally recognised drummer, so he's set and can as many solos as he wants cuz he already knows how to play pocket. But what you said is true for certain kids who only do chops or fills as their main thing when they play
I've been keeping on listening to it for years now, and I'm staying amased !
A less chaotic and yet more technical Mike Mitchell .. But I hate comparisons, this kid is quite unique ! Simply amazing
