While modern tales say that Santa Claus lives in these hills with his friendly reindeers, preparing gifts for kids all year around, Finnish tales depict him as something entirely different. In these folklore, Santa is a demonic creature who walks barefoot in the snow, haunts down naughty children, and boils them in a cauldron.

Santa wouldn't live in the North and enslaving elves.
However, in the context of the movie, people mistook the monster that used to capture and eat children for Santa due to the misunderstanding that the monster captured naughty children to punish them.

Clearly the Finnish artwork is depicting Krampus and similar characters and they are NOT a manifestation of "Santa," on the contrary they are companion characters who exist as negative reinforcement for naughty children in the same way Santa is positive reinforcement for good children.
There's neither Krampus nor Santa in the Finnish Christmas culture. The Finnish Joulupukki, or "Yule Goat" is an amalgamation of both, and naturally an English translation would use "Santa".
