  • It's an "AND" rather than "Versus" when it comes to these 2 options.
    Just trying to show you all a bit of how these 2 fantastic handguns are similar and different at the same time. Certainly 2 of the most popular (and successful) platforms for their divisions in practical shooting worldwide.

    Tanfoglio started to make pistols based on the "75" platform in the '80s, but they started to do competition pistols on that platform WAY before CZ did.
    The Stock II is an evolution of the Stock (not of the Stock I, that's a later model), and it was marketed in 2004. The Shadow II was marketed only in 2016.

    I always thought it was funny that the Stock II gets referred as a clone of the Shadow II even though it was released 5 years prior to the Shadow 2 😆

      So it's not really difficult to find out about when the Shadow2 was first released in 2016. You're saying then that the Stock 2 was released in 2011 or so?
      My little research yielded no fruits when it comes to find out precisely when the Stock 2 was first released. I've found something online saying 2018 or so... and I couldn't find reviews or actually anybody really talking too much about the Stock 2 here in US before that.
      The Tanfoglio.it website doesn't seem to have anything about when the model first reached the market - Do you know of any trustworthy source that will show the first release year of the Stock 2 in Europe?

      @@czarmorerlong story short from what I’ve found - Tanfoglio started developing handguns for sport shooting, especially for I.P.S.C. and I.D.P.A. competitions, in their different shooting categories in 1986.
      CZ up to 1992 was government controlled company and started changing from privatization - around year 2006 the’ve began to start developing completely new models, also dedicated for sport shooters and this was beginning of what we have Today. Tanfoglio also was involved in military production and that was also the reason why the was starting from similar platforms. Definitely Tanfoglio was firs in terms of producing guns dedicated to IPSC/IDPA but it’s hard to point who’s copying more from who. ;)

    I've been a Tanfo fan boy for many years. I bought a used small frame Tanfo Stock3 back in 2012 and I've always thought CZ copied that model for their Shadow2 as it's more closely related than the Tanfo Stock2. Although the Stock3 may not be as popular in competition as the Stock2. Good comparison video though!

    Awesome work, it was a pleasure to watch! Would you consider making some kind of maintenance schedule video? Or maybe a comment, which parts after how many rounds are you changing in both of them, how often do you clean them in order to have maximum reliability for competition? Ex (guessing) recoil spring every 5k, something else every Xk. Cheers!

    Great video thanks for all the info! Guessing you shoot that chrome bad girl in CO haha. Kinda want to try the Tanfo, but love the S2 balance and trigger seems like the stock Tanfo trigger is really bad is that your experience as well? Wish we could get the KMR pistols over from Czech Republic maybe they will import them eventually. I think you mentioned you haven't messed around with the Swiss versions from Phoenix what about he Arma Zeka pistols are they any good?

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  2 дня назад +1

      Right, that's my CO gun but I will really use it more in IDPA since it makes the weight - The Shadow goes beyond the 45oz limit in IDPA.
      Your take on the Tanfo's trigger is accurate - It's garbage out of box if compared with a Shadow2. However after the upgrades and work on it, it actually gets as good as a Shadow2 upgraded too.
      I also with we had KMR here! That would be awesome. And I don't have any experience with the other ones you mentioned :(

    I have a stock 2 and was thinking of buying a shadow 2, thanks for explaining everything to me in an impartial manner. I wanted to ask you what type of thumbrest you mounted on the tanfoglio, because I can't find any that fit the "custom" increased safeties and what sear spring?

      Grazie!! The thumb rest is called Nitro Fin (sold by shootersconnection.com)and it doubles as a slide release. You lose the slide lock function when using it though... It works for me as the division I shoot the Tanfo with makes no difference to have or not a slide lock function.

      Thank you for the question! Not stupid at all...
      Those are parts are not interchangeable between the S2 and the Tanfo - At least not as a drop-in. I don't know if one could re-fit them to make it work on the Tanfo, but I know they will not work out of the box.

      Thank you! It's true the Tanfo Stock 2 came out first, but do you think it's fair to say Tanfo adopted the CZ-75 platform and bult their guns on top of it from the 80's on?

    Just a question that I have, I bought a shadow 2 to compete in production optics and y put a holosun 507 comp and I saw that the front sight was to high so I decided to take it of but then I did a research and I didn’t know that the front sight pin of the shadow 2 holds the bushing too… so I put the same pin of the front sight, do you think that I have to place back the front sight or it’s good to go with just the original pin? Just don’t want the bushing fell off when shooting 😅

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  2 месяца назад +1

      Right - The front sight pin is actually what keeps the bushing locked in place as well. So just put the pin back and you will be good to go. If you, otherwise, go shoot it without the pin, it will be just a matter of a few rounds until your bushing flies away from the gun following the bullet :)

    • @erickkim3534
      @erickkim3534 2 месяца назад

      @@czarmorerthanks i appreciate your help! Just an other question in some research there are people saying that the front sight gives more retention with the pin than just the pin, is it true? And with just the pin doesn’t affect the accuracy? Thank your videos really help me🔥🔥

    • @czarmorer
      @czarmorer  2 месяца назад +1

      @@erickkim3534 Yes, it makes sense because with the front sight in place there is more friction with the pin and therefore more retention. However that pin goes in pretty tight even without the sight.
      If you feel like being extra-safe, and you don't tihnk you will use your front sight again for anything else, you can just either file it flat and replace it on the slide, or just buy a front sight delete - The cost is the same as new front sight though, so I would just file it down and buy one if I ever need it again :)
