In the first Tai Lung whooped their ass

In the second movie they were still throwing wings, paws, teeth and claws up until the canno to be fair.

Well the main character is Po so
1st Movie: It’s believable. Shifu didn’t want to teach the Furious 5 all the moves because he feared one of them would become evil and too powerful like Tai Long. So, Tai Long was the only one who mastered those moves and that’s why he won.
2nd Movie: Their best appearance where they actually do something and kick a lot of ass + Tigress took a big hit and survived.
3rd Movie: They were really incompetent, especially Mantis who was the reason they all (but Tigress) got captured by Kai.
4th Movie: Didn’t even show their faces.
The Furious Five were defiantly at their best in the second movie
Well at least its better for them to not show at all that getting their ass kicked for the fourth time and Po says "its kung fu time" then kung fus all over the bad guy and thats it.

The ONLY reason he even turned evil was because oogway was being a hater FOR NO REASON... Bros excuse was "there is evil in his heart" like bro didn't just want to be loved and be helpful... He LITERALLY only wanted to make his father proud... Bro had no evil in him until he was betrayed and then thrown to rot in jail... Even his so called father didn't even bother to ask why he wasn't ready to be dragon warrior... Shifu just excepts it and leaves his SON standing there alone in shame... 1. He only wanted Shifu's affection, and that's why he pushed himself in Kung Fu.
2. The way Shifu taught him is what caused an inner darkness to form.
3. Look at what happens when Shifu did nothing to support Tai Lung despite him being denied.
I have a strong feeling that the furious five are only as effective as the plot demands them to be. Essentially, they feel like complete jokes, the villains make absurdly dumb mistakes despite clearly being competent, and po just gets really lucky.
What do you mean as the plot demands? They don't do almost nothings in the next movies
In the first movie Tai Lung is overcome by Po’s unique style of Kung Fu.
In the second movie Shen is demolish by Po’s realization of inner peace.
In the third movie… yeah, it’s plot stuff lol

In their defence, they're actually one of the most capable warriors in those movies, often more so than Po. All you see is that they "Lost", but you don't consider how much they had to put up with and who they were fighting against.
Tai Lung is literally him. He's THAT guy. He broke out of a prison that had 1000 guards and only him to worry about, at the bottom of a chasm, chained and weighted down and all he needed to kickstart himself was a feather. Dont you find it impressive that they managed to fight him for 5-6 minutes on a collapsing bridge? The only reason Po won is because Bear style Wushu is nearly extinct and Po is.... pretty much one of a direct counter to Lung's
Shen didn't even use Kung Fu, he pretty much cheated by using canons and explosives. You can't Kung Fu that. And they still technically won, or at least didn't die like every other master.
And Kai literally ate Kung Fu masters for breakfast, yet Tigress managed to stand up to him more than once, if only for a bit. And they fought against an army of other masters. That's impressive af.
Also you roastin Oogway for seemingly being a dementia ridden old fart, but he's written like that on purpose. Often not even Shifu knows if Oogway is actually wise or just insane. But you CANNOT call his decision stupid. Because he was right after all. When choosing the Dragon Warrior, he asked the universe to give him the right person. He meant to point at Tigress, but Po got in the way, which he took as a the universe weaving Po's fate into the arena. It didn't matter that he got there by accident. What matters is that he DID. "There are no accidents". But you could still say he chose Po based on his superstition and it happened to work out, right? Well, another quote: "One often meets his destiny on their way to avoid it". That was a theme and has worked out every. single. time. Oogway KNOWS that destiny is a thing and has seen it time and time again. He has no reason not to think this isn't the sign of the Universe's will
Also there's the fact that he was LITERALLY saved by pandas who are Chi benders... And now he sees a Panda landing from the sky at the most convenient moment possible... Yeah I'd choose Po too.
i was always so confused about this. every movie, the furious 5 would get their ass dragged, and despite being trained for decades, they were never the ones to defeat the big bad; it was always Po. even as a kid, it never sat right with me how the furious 5 lost against tai lung but po beat him effortlessly in the final fight. the furious 5 has way more experience than po, and they outnumber tai lung 5 to 1. even to this day, i'm still so puzzled about it💀

But he didn't beat Tai Lung effortlessly. In their first round, Tai Lung gave Po a sound beating like he did everyone else. But by then, under Shifu's new training method for him, Po was able to develop himself into a more unconventional Kung Fu fighter that Tai Lung wasn't prepared for and thus, Po was able to give as much as he got in different ways. That, and the fact that Tai Lung didn't take Po seriously and was hyper-fixated on the scroll alone made him more vulnerable. But Tai Lung still beats Po in the ground and Po is dazed long enough for Tai Lung to grab the scroll. Po still lost the first round.
With the Five, even though they got good hits in, you can tell with the way he reacts to their Kung Fu that he's learned all that from his years as Shifu's student. He's basically saying, "Everything *you* know, *I* know", and not only that, but he knew more that the Five weren't ready for, case in point, his paralysis trump card.

While I understand it’s Po’s story so he has to be successful, but I lowkey hated how the Furious Five were kind of written to be these major masters of Kung Fu only to have all their progress undermined for the sake of plot. I love Po as a character and he goes through a lot of development, but I kind of wish we got to focus on the Five. I know they had 2 specials dedicated to them, but I loved their lore since introduced in the first movie. It may just be me who feels this way idk 😅
I think that the reason why oogway closed his eyes when choosing was because he knew fate would choose whos the dragon warrior and basically just bring him in front of him

I feel like after they failed to beat Kai and realized they couldn't beat God like people with immense fighting skill like Kai or tai lung or cunning smart enemies like shen.i feel like that moment would have inspired the furious 5 to get stronger and stronger and wanting to surpass po so that in the 4th movie they would be able to defeat the next boss together. oh and also why didn't the camileon take oogways kungfu I mean he did knock out tai lung in like 2 seconds and went toe to toe with a literal god

Tbf, they only got their ass kicked by Tai lung and Kai which is pretty understandable given that the same characters kicked Shifu's ass too, for Shen, it wasn't really a direct fight, if anything i think tigress can take him down 1v1 by herself, Shen is not a slouch, he defeated two masters at the same time, but still he didn't have many great fighting shows.

Yep my favorite scene is tai lung breaking out of prison and he is goated because of his back story of how expectations can damage a person lung took the most of it because he was given a title that he didn't ask for nor he wanted give him false dreams that he is great so yeah he has every right to be mad at shifu whether he did his intentionally or not the damage has been done and they only brought out Kung Fu Panda 4 only for the cash grab when they brought him out this movie could have spent their time redeeming him and make him the new dragon warrior that is something happens to shifu Paul would make himself a a spiritual leader who does reflect on everything that happens to him in the first second and third movie and being the friend that he needs I'm getting tai lung slowly gaining the trust back from the villagers and thus he has finally accepted the fact that he is already great you don't need external objects to make you great as Mr Ping said in order to make it special it is you who has to make it special and I like oogway voice lesson as well that instead of being controlling and expecting someone to be like your other character you have to let go of control like yesterday was the past the future is a mystery and today is all about the here and now that's why it is called the present the fourth movie Just does nothing with it if they give chameleon and an identity disorder from multiple characters that she turned into because of the world's self-esteem of not being accepted as herself that no one could accept her as herself to learn kung fu she does this by taking someone else's identity in order to fit in due to her shunned by society and Po will give her this lesson this isn't something that physical fighting angles solve it the amount of maturity that po has that will help chameleon redeem yourself by self reflection and her career should be outside of kung fu she could be a spy for them since she can impersonate other characters or be an actress to help entertain people that's just how I would make her redemption if they give the movie more time to bake and the furious five could have made an appearance instead of not being in a movie like po is connected to them
