The image film "The Legacy of the Premonstratensians" English subtitle

At Christmas time 1121, Norbert of Xanten († 1134) founded a new religious community with a small group of "religious dropouts" in Prémontré, France. In 2021, this Premonstratensian order will be celebrating its 900th anniversary which the Magdeburg Museum of Cultural History will mark with a special exhibition entitled "With the Bible and Spade. 900 Years of the Premonstratensian Order". The corresponding locations project "The Legacy of the Premonstratensians", which was concurrently initiated by the Centre for Medieval Exhibitions, aims to draw attention to the numerous aspects of their extensive building activity and the legacy of their religious, economic and cultural work. Starting in Magdeburg, this project presents numerous exciting cultural and historical destinations such as Leitzkau, Jerichow, Havelberg, Quedlinburg, Klosterrode, Brandenburg, Ratzeburg and Rehna. This image film would like to invite you on a journey to these authentic places, where the work of the Premonstratensians can be experienced through surviving buildings and works of art as well as through exhibitions, events and visitor services.
