ooooohhh you pissed me off when the feed tube slide right out. I've been working on it for 2 days now and it hasn't budged. Watching vid after vid trying to see someone perform this task, finally found you and it went like butter
Thanks, but either my phone changed words again or my brain stopped functioning in high gear. I meant to say that your feed tube came out easily. Mine is still stuck. Got it used and just wanted to grease the underside of the octagon and all those hidden parts you cant get to. Biggest issue is I have two coats of boiled linseed oil on the butt stock and none on the hand gaurd. Well, it had oil soaking into the seams for a day now. Im hoping that will do the trick and today will see victory. One big positive is while searching vids I came across a pros instructional on applying BLO to the stocks. Funny that he uses a technique just like we did at the bodyshop. He hand rubs the Blo into an area and then sands it to create a slurry. That fills all the holes/openings in the wood, making the surface smooth as can be. He finished by hand rubbing the stock. Wish the front wasn't two coats behind but thats mainly because you have to wait at least 24hrs between coats
+John Cashell It should come out, just watch those little screws that go into the block holding the stainless nose on,the threads in the block itself are not very good and could be easily damaged and make sure there are no shaved bits of wood inside the tube when you slide it back in when finished.cheers.
+My Rossi Rifle thanks, it finally came apart yesterday after 4 days of trying to get oil into the seam covering tube/receiver junction. Got it to twist back and forth 1/2" or so and worked that for a while. Finally ran 550 cord through the end cap screw hole and pulled. Abit dicey and I was prepared that it may not be round and would need to be made a circle again. Got lucky and no damage occurred. So coats of blo on the buttstock and one on the handguard. Looks good so far, sanded the dust into the oil and hoping for excellence
I enjoy watching and listening to you as you work on your rifle. You are meticulous. Tom
Thanks for that Tom, glad you like it, cheers.
Forget the tape you get your alignment thru the screw hole at the end of the tube.
Ist der Doof mit dem Strich :-) Das passt nur einmal....
