I did that 63" leaf swap on an 83 RC about 20 years ago. I covered it for Offroad Exchange at the time and the CAD bracket templates and parts numbers for everything you need is still up on their site.
Dr Evil And Unibrow in one episode ! Way to go Rudy ! As a shop foreman I have to ask you to keep the grinder spray from landing on top of your head and Please insist upon eye protection . Rust develops during a trip to the ER and your eyes are never the same after . Love you guy's !
Dirt in gas tank pan... fit in a 5 gal. bucket... 43 lbs. Looks like you two did a great job on the leaf spring install!! Got some mighty nice looking fab work on those mounts!
Hollie, please make sure you are throwing sparks on your hands when using an angle grinder!! That way the grinder goes away from you if it catches or the wheel breaks. Ask me how I know.
Looking great Holly and Rudy! We just converted one of our ramchargers to chevy 63s in the rear also. Gave us about an 8” rear stretch. Used front chevy leaf hangers and shackles in a compression orientation as well.
I’ve been on 63’s (technically 64’s if you are shopping new but we all call them 63’s) since 2006, first set lasted 12 years. Looks like you have the 4-1 packs (four leafs plus overload), save that overload spring because they will settle a bit, you can cut it down to a reasonable length of 7” and reinstall it like a zero rate add a leaf.
We pulled these from a rig that was in Paul from fabrats Yard that was headed off to scrap (literally hours after we pulled them 🤣). And your comment came at the perfect time!! We were debating on whether or not to keep and modify the overload springs! Thanks for the tip 😊🤘🏻
The 63” leafs worked nicely with full floating sliders in the early 90s monster trucks before gas shocks also. Looks great can’t wait to see this truck work.
Im so excited to show you guys the front end. It’s KILLER 😈. If we figured the geometry correctly, it’s gonna be a full-size point-and-shoot obstacle destroying monster 👹
I had two different brands of angle grinder blades from HF blow up on me within 5 minutes this week. I was cutting a piece of angle iron similar in size to the steel you were cutting. Fortunately, I was wearing a face shield.
@MischiefMakerTV love seeing the progression of your fab skills! Im im the structural steel industry. One tip using the wheel of death (cut off wheel) always try and have the sparks shoot at you so when the grinder kicks it will go away instead of towards you.
The thing you need to know about leaf springs is A multi pack of thin leafs like 1/4” by 3” ten left will give a lot more travel and a soft ride Ware as a pack of say five 3/8 by 3 will hold a good load and give a very stiff ride And you can make fancy shackles that have a double fold and drop For long travel
Rudy, it takes about a millisecond for a grinding wheel to explode while being used. In such a case safety goggles are a pretty good friend. Holly, at least you're wearing glasses, but goggles would be much better.
Been hard to get watching as my life gets more complicated. But love seeing how this is going. Giving me ideas, I may not be able to use. But I now have them. 😂
I have two hoods one auto darkening and an old one that I put clear lense in. Just have to remember to switch for welding. Helps keep sparks out of the ears and off my balding head.
YES PLEASE! Did a safety investigation a few years back where a guy had a disc explode and gash his face. Ended up with a few stitches but he had safety glasses on, face shield would’ve been better. Another point, which I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir, but make sure your disc’s rpms match the tool’s. Also, with pneumatic tools, make sure you’re regulating the air to match the tool. Not a big deal with most tools but definitely something to mind with high rpms.
A new word for the workshop must be Safetynessy ,all the gear is available to you ,and more than likely been gifted to you . Going back to using leaf springs, that's interesting .
This is just a kindly comment, not intended as a troll. Hoping to help you in your build. Im jealous that I cannot do that stuff anymore. I used to have loads of fun building projects. You guys need to adjust the wire feed speed to a nice fine sound ... Too much harsh spatter sound means either your too hot to balance the feed with the temp/amp settings or feed is too slow. This is coming from an old man who spent 20+ years welding everything under the sun 🤣 P.S. 6.75 lbs 😊
Looks like you need to hit up Bolts and Nuts like Robby and others have done so you have that hardware on hand (and optional take-along kits for your road adventures). Seems like a good investment if you want to keep racing as well. 👽
Loving the build! Mounting the springs under the frame would of helped with articulation. Leverage… Doubt perches will work in stocks location due to short wheelbase but shackle reversal should help. Check out trail mater design for rear traction bar real nice design.
Twice i have had coworkers blow their hands apart with a grinder. One was a slip and lost thumb. Other was a shatter with no guard or handle. Full palm and digit mangle. I absorbed more than one into my leathers. Guard saves hand. But i did hours a day everyday grinding. So no chances. Every case has a few that just fail and come apart. Less than 1% yeah. But don't trust them for build quality. Even the nice ones blow up. Grinders are the careeer enders.
I believe there trying to get a wider stance so all the hardware, shocks springs, and all the other things don't all have to go in the same area, more options, less drama
Great progress, don't be afraid of the leaf springs, your getting the bases covered with the long springs. On another note: PEOPLE, GO VOTE EVERY DAY, that 1100 vote lead has slid to 615...EVERYDAY PEOPLE! We've gotta see this RC in the Ultimate Adventure!
I didnt catch what you were guys said you were going to do with the front but i hope its leafs up front too. people dont realize how much travel you can get with leaf springs.
I have some friends with amazingly capable vehicles on leafs - best example Is Jeremy Rose and his Scrambler Chubby Chaser. This next episode will be all about the front - we just got it fully mocked up today 😁
Holly, stop shooting the sparks away from you when zip cutting. Your going to get that grinder in the face when it kicks. Always remember it will kick the opposite direction of the sparks.
I'm wondering why the leaf springs were mounted to the side of the chassis rails and not directly under it. The current placement might have wheel mounting issues and will definitely reduce options for wheel width.
Because in the previous videos they are building a set of heavy duty Ford axles that are wider than the stock ones, so have to move your mounting points outward to match your wider axles.
@@johnt.848 Then your spending big bucks of a limited budget to have custom narrower axle shafts made. Wider base stance “footprint” is a good thing in off-roading.
Well, we are ‘building’ this rig into something more than what it was…not simply adding wheels/tires and doing some body/paint work! 🤣🤣 We also plan to do body work - we even have a rendering that we have chosen not to show yet. The Flexus won’t be on the same level as the RADcharger #respectfully 🙏🏻😅
Hey Rudy, I was running a wheel this weekend and it came apart and blasted my safety glasses. Be safe my friend!
I like that!!
Mischief Maker TV Headquarters
Both of you guys blasting each other with sparks & debris, all fun and games until someone loses an eye
Holly, I have to say, love the fact you're always wearing safety glasses. Good job!!
Thanks for keeping me busy at work by buying our bolts at ace. I work for hillman fasteners.

What a great natural team.
Rudy, I’m in awe of your creative skills and talents….. I want to watch your videos for a long time…. Please wear safety gear………

Holly just blastin the guys with sparks the whole video 😂😂😂 keep up the great work guys
I would move that rear bracket forward a few inches and make longer shackles. 45* angle on the shackle will give you the most travel and comfort

Holly...you need to keep the angle grinder de other way around. The sparks needs to fly down and backwards 💪😎👍. You also have more control this way
Great video I’m glad to see you and Rudy working together👍
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
Walter needs to remember Rudy is the master of "half done" .....so some stuff don't need changing 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Interesting for sure !
HEY! Hello Hollie and thumbs UP!
Rudy quit using safety squints and protect your eyes with real protection.
Good for him
I have two hoods one auto darkening and an old one that I put clear lense in. Just have to remember to switch for welding. Helps keep sparks out of the ears and off my balding head.

G'damn... Safety glasses !! (been there done that, no fun at all)
Some nice work you two
shaping up nicely! i like it. carry on. y'all make a good team.
I'm working on some raised planting beds for a friend, I could use that dirt from the skid plate. :)
Everyone needs a Rudy!
Morning Hollie!!
Rudy with the death wheel and safety squint… apple doesn’t fall far
Here's a tip for leaf springs. Unbend the retaining straps and you'll get more flex
Awesome work you two!!!
You guys are crushing the competition in votes. Goooooooo Team
Guess you had 12.35lbs of nice paydirt in the gastank pan.
Nice build, grab life by the horns.
Keep on building.

Curious as to why the springs weren’t mounted directly to the frame? The mounts you guys made do look fantastic! And of course we vote every day!

Most likely trying to match new rear differential spring perch width
WOW Rudy, nice fabbing
Also helps with flex to have them as far apart as possible
Lol, RAM = Rudy's Adventure Machine?
That’s perfect!
Another good video Hollie & Rudy!
That singing clip - burning with Rudy, was impressive Hollie...is their more of your singing on RUclips?
Y’all got my vote (daily)! 😜
Rudy if you're going to grind with your hood on. put it on grind mode and put it down and save your eyes.
I'm still impressed it has the ram hood ornament.
i know! i need one for my 99 ram2500 ..... been searching for one...
Going to vote!!! 😛
Hey guys don’t forget to vote vote every day 👍they have reached 10090 votes and they are in first place 👍 let’s keep it going
I do I do!! 😛
That looks amazing
That looks like you had 20 lbs of dirt hinding in there. Maybe Dodge set it up as ballas to make the rear fell planted.
Leafspring technology is from about 1750s.
The longer the better, makes for a nice cushy ride.
👍
Remote mics would add so much to your great vids.
Rudy, we need some vids on your channel!

8lbs of dirt 👌
Have you guys thought about some team merchandise for your fans? I think that would be cool to have as a fan of both of you.
Great build, suggest using safety glasses when grinding, all it takes is one metal piece in your eye will ruin your day big time
Holly, stop shooting the sparks away from you when zip cutting. Your going to get that grinder in the face when it kicks.
Always remember it will kick the opposite direction of the sparks.
interesting , Thank you
You have gold in that pan... bring it somewhere and see if it has some of that bling.
Y'all are awesome ❤ y'all in Utah!!!
I think you guys should be calling it the RAD Mischief Charger.
If you think that looks huge, you should see chevy 63s on an 82 toyota pickup
What going to do with overloads?😮
Go old school and put 63" rear leaf spring up front and have it full leaf spring around ,other than that its look good
Safety glasses Rudy! Please!
9lbs of dirt on the plate
Throw walters cab on that frame when your done and he will have his truck.
Hey, what kind of tree do leaf springs come from?
You should grow tomatoes in that skid dirt. Added value, yes?
didn't see anyone ask, but what product or process did you use for the finish on the frame. Nice shinny black!
Just an old can of POR-15 we had laying around. Decided to use our time waiting in parts to do a little rust repair and prevention work 😊
16-19 lbs. of dirt!!

Talk to Robby Layton about his nuts and bolts collection he just got.

16lbs of dirt. That NV dirt is extra dense.
Where can i get a bfg camo hat like that?
Why not go to 2 springs instead of 3 for more flex?
Where is the ppe
5#8oz ?
I give u 10000 votes
DOES THE GAS TANK HAVE ANY FUEL IN IT
Oh please don’t get hurt
10904 votes for you all. Looking good thus far.
Holly you’re going to hurt your self with a grinder. Please alway cut with the blade pulling the grinder away from you
Rudy takes after his dad. no PPE
3.5 lbs (1.5 kg) for Holly
👍
12lbs of dirt :)
