This game isn't for everyone, and that is a positive. A major problem in large studios is attempting to please too broad of an audience and as a result not creating something meaningful to anyone.
Watching the early videos my main worry is that they've made things a bit too easy. It is encouraging that the master strikes are more difficult to pull off.
Theres also another side of the coin where you make the game too difficult to get into, appealing to a niche audience which will affect them financially. Them streamlining certain elements of the game like the combat and mechanics is great change to bring in more people.
Fextralife, at 5:54 when you complain about the shield bandit you kept attack his kettle helm with a top slash attack, not sure if you played the first game for long but armor actual protects in this game and slashing is not effective at all against armor and will deal 0 dmg unless the armor starts to break, when fighting armored enemy everyone please look at them and identify their weakest points of armor. That bandit head and his left arm are not good choices at all since that shield will auto block all attacks without him even raising the shield and that kettle helm protects the face from slashes, his right arm has a gauntlet but not upper arm protection so aim for his right arm, I also see his legs have some armor but not much so that a safe area to attack, also with an open face helm like a kettle helm thrust can be effective but if its close plated it won't be. But if you are using a sword against armored enemy reminder, you have bashes and clenches that will do chip dmg and drain stamina, and even break armor and with a big shield like that you should try dodging more to his right as if you dodge to the side that doesn't have his big shield it leaves him more open to strikes instead of you just standing Infront and kept blocking and attacking with little effectiveness
It’s actually so crazy how in depth this combat is. The way you explain it is just the tip of the iceberg too. I absolutely loved the realism of the combat in the first game but it was of course infamously janky. With this new polish and more things added to combat like dodges actually being viable, shield bashes, crossbow/gun, better bow aiming i mean this game will definitely have 10/10 combat

Its true the forests are really beautiful. Back in 2020 when Covid pandemic startet and the first lockdown came I was riding through the forest and thought what if I will never ever be able to walk through such nice nature in real life because of covid? The game really helped me to bridge this depressive time a little.
Put 140 hours when it came out but didn’t end up finishing it. Grabbed it in steam couple months ago. Fairly rushed it in 50 hours to ready up for the sequel. This franchise is well worth the money to time invested
Just had to come say THANK YOU for all the help with guides and your wiki. Just came up on a video of another RUclipsr just honestly talking sh*t. What you doing is GREAT. Appreciate the help and resources 🔥
I plan to go through this the same way I did the first game. Play through once as Henry learning all I can about the game, and a second one where I take what I learned and try to become Megahenry.
Game looks really good. I just can't get over the fact that hitting NPCs with a steel sword still looks so boring and dull. Don't go over the top but a little more realistic gore would be good.
Great video! I loved the first game althoigh some parts of it were indeed frustrating. I would like to know what the save system is like in this game, and if inventory management is any easier now.
Maybe aside from the injury the potion used by the old lady in KCD II when Hans asked for help for the wounded Henry in some game preview scenes out there is the Lethean Water which in KCD I resets the perks and skills of Henry.
How do performance levels scale? PC Benchmarks published have shown ultra details. Those have ultra-taxed hardware back in KCD I already. However, just going down to high already had significantly higher framerates -- and the game still looked decent even on low (and had 3-4 times the framerates of the ultra settings)
From what I’ve gathered (which isn’t much to avoid spoilers) he suffers from a gnarly fall. I do hear that he starts a bit further than the first game tho. He can read, riposte, and a few other things thankfully
This was the review I was hoping for! And I’m glad there is still some jankiness, kind of like Skyrim, as long as it doesn’t mess up the game it can be a lot of fun.
It is a bit weird that Henry starts at 0 in KCD2, I get the idea and I liked it in KCD1 but they could give him some initial boost to certain skills based on player choises (idk if that is being done in the “tutorial”/first 2h of the game) Also you mentioning the shielded guy fight. I hated that in KCD at some point you can meet enemies that just simply block all your attacks, and the only way to beat them is to swap to ranged or only counterattack them.
He does... most of his starting stats even after the 'macguffin' event in the prologue are around 5-6 plus he has access to unique perks based on his his experience from the first game right away. For example a strength perk that lowers the requirement of skill checks for strength by 2 points. there is also an agility one that does similar. I gleamed this from mortalatasi's hands on.
He said: 90 FPS performance with 1440p ultra settings, with RTX 3080 Ti Not bad. Not bad at all. And as far as i remember from the original KCD, the big cities with multiple NPCs puts more stress on the CPU. So both GPU and CPU need some muscles to perform, but clearly not the latest technology, which is very pleasing to see.
So the first game is also about Henry starting rock bottom at the start in terms of skills (but eventually becoming proficient at the end). Why then is he back to being useless in the sequel? Wouldn't those skills carry over?
The guy with a shield is probably just the better fighter, you didn't look very well equipped or prepared to face him, and I mean, he's got a big ass shield, it should be hard to hit him unless you've got the proper gear and proper techniques to take him down. Actually I think it's a good thing that you can't just power through every enemy encounter early game, and running away should always be a perfectly valid option until you acquire advanced armor, weapons, skills and combos. That said, maybe this particular encounter was bugged or completely overtuned in the early build you played on.
Pretty sure he is better at everything from the start compared to KCD. It's great because it's lore accurate but also will hopefully mean more people experience how great the games are.
The first one is pretty great too. Give it a shot as you wait for this one Growing Henry from a lowly peasant into a knight is a highly rewarding experience IMO. Lol you can literally teach him how to read as an example

Hold on, so you can't kill the woman in the pond. That is sad. I would love to see Capon's reaction to us being complete psycho at the start of the game.
This game was like Dark Souls for the first time. I tried, died a hundred times, and uninstalled the game. But the effect was already spreading through my mind. Reinstalled to get that "rewarding rush."
It runs great? Well that's a relief. The first game was rough and I had the latest hardware. So basically he has an injury n it drops his skills slightly but he will still be good at what he was in the forest game with the potential of an open skill tree 💁🏽♂️
If it's true, first see what the context is, their might be a historical reason for it before you bring out your pickfork, which you clearly chomping at the bit to do.
only worth playing this deep sale game is with another bow mod to skip melee. part of why real time combat RPGs should have skill combat that is designed to be fun, not leveling numbers go up.

@dcsblessedbees during the streams of the game they explained that he doesn't get reset to zero. The analogy they used is that Henry in the first game was playing in the Sunday league and now his in uefa champions league with people who have a higher skill set than him n the people from the small area his from. So basically he has an injury n it drops his skills slightly but he will still be good at what he was in the forest game with the potential of an open skill tree 💁🏽♂️
Thanks.
I loved the first game and have been obsessed with the second but I really hope the African in sigismunds camp isn't real
I think they are 13 years apart
Thx

Can you save the game at any time at the start?what if you get thru the 1st hour at the start but have to leave the game?
In the first one you can save with a drink in game or when you log out it saves as well. So anytime you have to leave just make sure you log out first.
@ ok cool thanks
