    I just recieved a white pomsky for thanksgiving. He was born on April 22nd 2022. I do not know much about this breed other then they are part pom and part husky. We have a pomchi and a husky along with a cat. Buddy Payne is my Pomsky's name. he has been an exciting puppy since i got him. He has taught my family and i a lot along with the good he has brought to the rest of our furry family. I'm glad i found your program. i learned a lot from you to. Thank you.

      😆 That's why it's important to have a large yard. I miss my beautiful Husky. She loved having the large yard to play in. They grab your heart and won't let go. My beautiful girl was the *don't touch me, don't talk to me, don't look at me and don't even think about me unless I tell you to* kind of chick. But we understood each other and got along very well. She reasoned to get what she wanted. One of her reasonings was that she wanted green beans that I had picked that day. I wouldn't give them to her. She walked away, then came back with a Milk Bone. She dropped it at my feet and looked into my eyes. She got her green beans and I still have that biscuit. She was a rescue when I got her at 5 months old and 15 years old when she died. There will never be another like her.

      Well. My best friend has a new husky, my Dalmatian is 18 months, a strong spotted beast! I have my 83 year old mom living with me, I had to fast track training for her safety as well as mine. He went to puppy boot camp for 2 weeks. Best (but expensive) decision made. He will NOT jump or pull, or body check us. He is 75 lbs and I love him. Still, wish they had mini Dals……they are a handful, 77 lbs of pure muscle but a lean eating machine who loves family, dislikes the Amazon and Infinity guy……

    Interesting cross! There's such a size difference between Pomeranians and Huskies that I wonder how they breed? Do they have to be artificially inseminated? Also, they are pretty but seem kind of skittish, I notice them slinking around alot while you're handling them. Is this true of most Pomskies or does it depend on the particular line?

    • @runningspiritkennels
      @runningspiritkennels  Год назад +12

      Hi! Thanks for your questions. The original pomskies were created through artificial insemination with husky mothers. However this is no longer necessary as pomskies have become a breed in their own right and pomskies now come from pomskies. As far as being skittish, they definitely are not! They are a very playful and affectionate breed, but the ones in the video were just not used to being up on top of the table during the shoot. Even the husky was really subdued when we put him up on the table and eager to get down. We have some other videos that show how playful and friendly they are, feel free to check them out!

      It's taken many years to get where we are. Same as any trade that you want to preserve, you breed 2 dogs with similar trades or size.
      Choosing smaller dogs to mate and mating to smaller dogs. Do that a few generations and you get to our 6.5lb Pomsky Niko 😊

Giving them a good brush during those times and once a week will keep your house almost hair free. Just to look at them all the time, how beautiful and sweet they are makes it worth some extra brushing 😊

  • @maryellenthompson8261
    @maryellenthompson8261 Год назад

    G These are beautiful dogs, but I have a question. How on earth do you breed a husky with a Pomeranian? There is such a size discrepancy. And, how is their health? Do they have a lot of health problems?

    • @runningspiritkennels
      @runningspiritkennels  Год назад +1

      To cross the 2 breeds we started by Artificialy inseminating a female Husky with sperm from a Pomeranian male. Years later we no longer need to do that since we are several generations (4th) down the line. Now we mate Pomsky to Pomsky, both close in size.
      Pomskies are healthy dogs, just like other mix breeds since adding new DNA to the mix will dilute some of the damage done by breeders from pure bred lines.
      We DNA test all our dogs before we breed them to make sure they don't carry any disease and have them examine by a veterinarian, same as EVERY puppy we produce or purchase.

    They're NOT cuddly lap dogs. They're super high energy dogs that rarely settle down. Both Pomeranians and huskies have high prey drives and are not suitable for families with young children. Why they bred two super high energy/prey drive/vocal/breeds together is beyond me. Do your research!!!
