Very helpful because most of the times a car will cast a weird shadow since you normally take pictures all around it. I typically use aperture priority so I get a good depth of field and I don't have to do a lot of adjusting when in a car show and the clouds change the lighting.

Thank you and no worries...I know what you mean...the menues are slightly haphazard. With the loss in quality between continuous and single bracketing, I’ve tested in real situation and unless you’re really pushing the limits, it’s hard to tell the difference. The other option is to get something like the camranger or CamFi to bracket for you. Thanks for watching. 👍
I used to really like the British accent. Now, I can't tolerate the Brit's tendency to NOT say 't' For example: in the USA we say 'bedder' in UK English they used to say 'better' now they say 'be-er' lt drives me crazy.
Bloody hell another great video. I have literally been manually taking 2 or more differently exposed photos to blend later.. now I learn about bracketing literal game changer!!! I feel stupid... but Thank you I will follow this to T. I actually so excited to try it out 👍
Until you know the setting is there, it is impossible to learn about it, so no need to feel stupid, you were just doing it the old school way!! Great to hear I could help! Thanks for watching 😁👍
First, another nod to you Mike for the quality of your videos. Per HDR, I will try it but so far have not needed it with the A73. As a test I used the highlight metering mode on a sunset shot with the sun just above the horizon. In camera, everything below was black. In LR I could bring up all the shadow detail without a hint of noise.
Hi Jim, Thanks so much, I put a lot in to these so I really appreciate your kind words. The dynamic range is fantastic in these cameras!! I only needed to bracket every now and then, but only in really extreme conditions...I sometimes find I'll bracket a shot and then I end up not needing the extra exposures as the camera is more than capable of handling it. It is amazing how much you can bring up the shadows! Thanks for watching 😁👍

I had just configured my sony mark iii to video preference though so I watched a whole video that was 40 minutes long before to configure it to profile 10 so thats my specific case. Thanks again
Hi Max, Great to hear you now have some understanding about bracketing. I'm hopefully going to be making an updated video on this subject, so I'll be sure to go into more detail about the settings themselves. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Nice video lesson about bracketing. I used to do a lot of HDR when I had my Canon cameras. But since moving to Sony, I have yet to use HDR. I find the dynamic range of the Sony cameras such as the A6500 and the A7iii, probably because they benefit from a newer generation of sensors, to be quite good.
Thanks Paul!! You’re right on that front! I find myself doing it less and less due to the large dynamic range. Although it’s quite a good “cheat” if you’re not 100% sure if the exposure settings!...I sometimes do this if I’m rushed for time or I’m feeling lazy...then you can pick the best one later!! 😆
very nice video and useful tips, I like a lot your videos because the are clear, short, focused on just 1 thing at a time and pleasant to watch....I think that I can use these settings also on my A7r ii....

With the loss in quality between continuous and single bracketing, I’ve tested in real situation and unless you’re really pushing the limits, it’s hard to tell the difference. The other option is to get something like the camranger or CamFi to bracket for you.
Thanks for watching. 👍
Love ur channel! amazing and clear explanations!
Thanks so much!! 😁👍
Super explanation for bracketing!
Thanks so much Pam! Keep checking back for more tutorials as I’ve got lots more coming this year!! 😁👍
such a beautiful style of diction, thanks Mike.

5 years later, this was useful to me. Thank you!
really useful and you've got a great presentation style, thank you
Thanks so much Ian, Glad you like it!! 😁👍
That british accent! i'm improving my english, and my photography techniques, 2in1. I´m a Sony A7III user.
Waving hands from Argentina!
That's great to hear!! Waving hands back to you from Asia!! 😁👍
I used to really like the British accent. Now, I can't tolerate the Brit's tendency to NOT say 't' For example: in the USA we say 'bedder' in UK English they used to say 'better' now they say 'be-er' lt drives me crazy.
Thanks mate for all your great work! Really appreciated
No worries, and thanks for watching Christian! 😁👍
Awesome video! I didn't know the selftimer function, very useful! Thank you.
No worries, I'm glad it was useful.
Thabks for watching. 😁👍

Thank you for the information. I know this video is from 2019 but it's still extremely useful! Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much Clark! 😁👍
Great and clear video, as usual ! Thank you very much Mike !
And thanks so much for watching, liking and commenting, much appreciated! 😁👍
@@mikesphotography Your very welcome Mike ! :)
Hi Jim,
Thanks so much, I put a lot in to these so I really appreciate your kind words.
If you find yourself in Southern California, look me up and I’ll buy you dinner.
Thanks so much Jim, we’ll definitely be over there sometime in the near future! Maybe a tour of some of the great photography locations in your area as well!? 😁👍
@@mikesphotography Given your interest in astrophotography, you would probably enjoy shooting the Milky Way from the White Mountains off Route 395. On your way you would could stop to photograph at two groves of Bristlecone Pine trees, the oldest living things on earth. And then there is the Alabama Hills outside Lone Pine, where I was shooting two weeks ago. I have posts about both on my website, bassimages.com.
Thank you so much for making that as easy as possible!!!
No worries Luis, thanks for watching. 😁👍
Best video on the internet. thank you
Thanks very much!!
Subbed mate, you got me sold on your professionalism. I've noticed I'm fixing way too much in post on my images shot on a a7r 3 so this will be a life changer
Thanks so much for liking commenting and subbing, much appreciated...and welcome to the club!! Exposure bracketing is a great way to really increase your dynamic range capabilities of the camera!
Thanks for watching 😁👍
Great review/ content ! so well explained and clear .
Thanks very much Genesis! 😁👍
Thank you for teaching me about bracketing. I wish we went more into why you choose which bracketing options a little more. Also I got stuck on how to change the profile mode so it took much longer to watch your video when you could have just showed how to change it. I can't complain though cause it got me around my camera more. I had just configured my sony mark iii to video preference though so I watched a whole video that was 40 minutes long before to configure it to profile 10 so thats my specific case. Thanks again
Hi Max,
Great to hear you now have some understanding about bracketing.
This was excellent
Good connection between two videos
Thanks very much Birtan! 😁👍
very nice video and useful tips, I like a lot your videos because the are clear, short, focused on just 1 thing at a time and pleasant to watch....I think that I can use these settings also on my A7r ii....
Hi Paolo, thanks so much! I try to keep them as short at to the point as possible.
These settings will definitely work for the a7rii...that is my main camera and the a7iii is my backup camera...I love the quality from the a7rii!! 😁👍
Thanks for watching!
