I came here after the news. I remember the episode where he died in the show and now it also happened in real life. It hits so different. RIP Bob Newhart, you will be remembered.
My favorite part is not in this video. It's when he had trouble with his pacemaker and Penny says "is there any chance we could plug it into the potato?"
Bob Newhart was an excellent guest star as Professor Proton on The Big Bang Theory. He also finally won a Primetime Emmy Award for his work guest starring, and I’m really glad he did!
I fell on the floor laughing to this episode. As a kid watching Bob Newhart since the 60's, and this being one of my favorite sitcom's now, I could not control myself.
Some of my very favorite episodes of this show. Love you always, Bob Newhart. From your early appearances on Carol Burnett and other shows, to your original 1970s sitcom with the lovely Suzanne Pleshette which so entertained me as a child, to your 80s sitcom with wonderful Mary Frann, and right up to the present day, you've always been a part of my life. I only wish my parents--fellow 1920s babies--had lived as long as you. Thanks for all the quirky laughs and perfect deadpan timing. I'm honestly gutted. I'll miss you. RIP buddy. See ya on the other side.
I love Bob Newhart! I never watched Big Bang Theory so I didn't know he appeared on the show! I think I may be a fan of the show now!!!!! Thanks for sharing this excellent clip!!!!!
Thanks for all the laughs, Bob, and thank you most especially for the Bob Newhart Show, for playing Professor Proton on TBBT, and for performing the “Stop It” sketch on Mad TV. May perpetual light shine upon you.
I love how, no matter egotistical and conceited Sheldon can be around people he thinks are inferior, when he’s in the presence of someone he admires (like Hawking or Prof Proton), he becomes a different person.
Pure genius. Every so often I listen to one of Bob Newhart's "sketches". My favourite has always been the driving instructor sketch and it still has me laughing over 50 years after I first heard it.
Had to come here after hearing about Bob Newhart's passing. R.I.P. Mr. Newhart. Thanks for the memories.
Goodbye, Bob Newhart, thanks for your performance as "Professor Proton".

You've got to love Bob Newhart's dry humor.
I'm surprised he's still around. He was in 3rd grade with Moses.
Oh, absolutely. Love him so, so much in so many of his other shows.

RIP Professor Proton! Bob Newhart was one of a kind. What a funny, funny man. You'll be missed.
The subtle nuances of Bob Newhart -a comic master. "And this is my girlfriend, Penny." "Hel -lo!" Oxygen is back in the lungs!
bastet727 I loved his follow-up of "you're the genius".
I'm certain that "hello" was a reference to his old 70' Bob Newhart Show.
Both shows had different inclinations of "Hello?" and just as hilarious. This "Hel-lo!" was a well-needed adult, vey mature "still alive" greeting.
Healing factor is entered the chat
Amazing 😅absolutely Hilarious guy.😅
