  • Finally got around to fixing my misaligned BMX Bike frame. It's been running all skewed but now she's good as new.

    Does anyone know if you can turn a loose ball bearing hub into a sealed bearing hub?

    • @KamaarhKenn
      @KamaarhKenn  Год назад +1

      You can't. They're both designed differently to work with their respective bearings

  • @michaelevans6205
    @michaelevans6205 2 года назад +1

    wow your awesome i really like your videos one thing i noticed in your hub rebuild videos you never replace the bearings in the cassette hub driver? why is that ?

    • @KamaarhKenn
      @KamaarhKenn  2 года назад +1

      Those rarely ever go bad. The only tension that gets on them is when you pedal. For the bearings in the hub housings, those are active all the time whether you're coasting, pedaling or just outright beating the heck out of your bike. They pretty much carry the weight of the bike as well as your own while you're riding thus they tend to wear out pretty fast. Plus they're on either side of the hub with a spacer in between thus doesn't distribute load as efficiently as the bearings in the driver which are like 3 or 4 closely packed together

    why would u spray paint on the driver?

    • @KamaarhKenn
      @KamaarhKenn  Год назад

      It's raw steel. Painting tge outside of the driver gives it a fighting chance against rust

      @@KamaarhKenn wasn't it better to put a layer of thin lubrican over it than paint? the paint will be worn down by the chain either way.

    • @KamaarhKenn
      @KamaarhKenn  Год назад

      And the lubricant will be washed off after like 2 washes. Where I'm from it's always dusty regardless of where you go thus bikes get washed more frequently. Paint holds on much longer and better compared to lubricant.

    Sick work mate, any chance you know where to find axles like this one to buy online, i have a hub that needs new axle but find it impossible to find any on the internet. Cheers.

    • @KamaarhKenn
      @KamaarhKenn  8 месяцев назад +1

      Check on AliExpress. You might get lucky. Or alternatively, get another hub as a donor.

    • @KamaarhKenn

      It's usually difficult to find similar axles. The concept of the hubs is usually the same, but designs differ slightly from company to company.

    can we convert the cassette to LHD?

    • @KamaarhKenn
      @KamaarhKenn  Год назад

      It depends. There's hubs designed such that every pawl has an individual spring. And for a number of hubs with that design, you can interchange the position of the pawls and springs to change the direction of the hub.
      This particular one doesn't have that option though
