Today's video highlights an important document you SHOULD get from your country before travelling to the UK, especially if you want to WORK AND STUDY.
This document is also needed for some programmes. If one of the conditions attached to your offer of admission is to complete a DBS check, you need this document from your country before you can complete the DBS check in the UK and meet that condition.

You can get from any police head quarters.I got mine my from portharcout some years back.

This is very insightful… some employers also need this good conduct cert from any other country (apart from your home country) you’ve lived in for up to 12months. For the Nigerian cert, all you need is the right connect, they can send the form online to you, you print it, fill it and send back to them and they’ll send you the certificate. That’s how I got mine.

You go to the police headquarters in your state of residence, you pay a certain fees, the police there takes your biometrics and send them to Alagbon, ikoyi. Is cheaper if there many applicants that need it at the same time as you do but if it just you, is expensive. I think is only valid for 3 months.

Yes, the DBS check will be fine over there. The essential document you have to bring from your country is the police clearance certificate explained in the video.

I'm really not sure of any specific organisation. Personally, I got mine from UCH under the medical social services department. You can check with them, though my undergraduate study was in social Work. Bit you can volunteer in any NGO as far as you make impact in people's lives positively especially the poor, marginalised and vulnerable group of people.

Hello from Turkey, thanks for information. I got a conditional offer from a UK based University, the Youth Work department which includes 400 hour of placement in which i have to have a DBS (enhanced) certificate to enroll the program. But as far as i know, I can take a Police Record from my country and ve translated it by a professional, but, i still have to take dbs check when i come to the UK to enroll the University and start the placements. So, how the process is working? How long can i take the certificate? Thanks a lot....
Hi Favour, my question is can a soft copy of this suffice as the officer that did it for me is asking for more money before giving me the hard copy. Can a soft copy suffice?
Is the certificate necessary for only those going for social work? Or for every International student, whether social or management bcos I've never of these.
It's compulsory for those coming in for social Work. But for some jobs, you'll require it and advisable you get it before coming.
Can't I get the certificate from force headquarters Abuja?
Is it possible to come back to Nigeria when the student visa is still on?
Of course, during holidays (non-term time). But if there is an urgent need to travel during term time, just make sure you inform your department and get a letter from them (if possible). This was what I I when I needed to travel last year...

I think you can get it at the police headquarters. I got mine the same day I went there.
Hi Dear, I learned this certificate expires in 3 months, if I come in August and do it now it would have expired by the time I am in the UK, will it be ok if i am already in the UK?
Just make sure it does ot expire before uou come to the UK. Do it like one or two months before you leave. The import thing is that it should stoll be valid before the date you arrive in the UK

Yes, it think it can be called that. But on it its written "certificate of good conduct". Its basically to state if one has previous criminal convictions..
I have gotten a police clearance certificate from the same address you just mentioned. So I think certificate of good conduct is also equivalent to Police clearance Certificate that is issued back home in Nigeria. I feel its just a change in nomenclature. But if I may ask,what was the tittle written on the certificate you got from CID headquarter in Alagbon,Lagos? Was it certificate of good conduct or Police Clearance certificate that was written on it?

You need to get the certificate at most three months before travelling out.
